Bloodborne no hunter's dream run guide and walkthrough. Taking you step by step through a very difficult challenge run where you cannot enter the hunter's dream until after defeating Mergo's wetnurse. Which entails that you cannot die, cannot level up, cannot upgrade your weapon (+0 weapon for the entire playthrough), cannot use gems, cannot use runes, cannot use shops, cannot fast travel, cannot get rid of insight, cannot acquire a gun and cannot farm for items.

FAQ:
Can't you get the Evelyn, Reiterpalasch, cannon or the Rifle Spear?
No you cannot get the evelyn or the reiterpalasch. First of all, no starting origin meets the stat requirements. Secondly, you cannot leave cainhurst once you enter it. The hunter's mark puts you back before the gate. And thirdly, getting to cainhurst would be an incredible hassle in the first place and wouldn't even be worth it even if you could use the evelyn or reiterpalasch. The cannon requires requires 30 strength so obviously not usable. Even the rifle spear is one point above the starting stats the noble scion and milquetoast origins. So the only possible "gun" you could use in this run is the flamesprayer (practically useless). So no, in this kind of run you'll be doing it without a gun.
What was your starting origin
Military Veteran
How many attempts did this take
TOO many. And apart from the fact that doing a run like this is very difficult, both my routing as well as some of my strats were really bad. (like, my beastblood pellet pickups in the forbidden woods for example or the lack of blue elixers, or a safer second pickup for poison knives, not knowing how to prevent the clone summoning phase in the wetnurse fight and much more. Apart from my follow up video "No hunter's dream made easy", I may very well re-do this glitchless version of the run, but it probably will simply be a livestream instead a prerecorded guide.
"Why didn't your weapon break"
Weapons are quite durable and take a long time to break. If you only fight bosses you should be fine. Moreover, given my routing, I had the tonitrus as a backup weapon as well.
"What happens if a kidnapper kills you? Does it send you to the hunter's dream or to the prison in Yahar Guhl"

Update: almost 2 years after uploading I had to use the youtube editor to remove the music I added the sped up footage during the One Reborn fight at 58:47 hence the awkward silence during those sections and when I say "bloodvials" getting cut off. Doesn't affect the video much, but I thought I should mention it
Also at 1:10:58 I made a little mistake in the commentary here. There is a small sentence missing. What I of course meant to say was: Only one boss left to go. There's nothing left to pick up, with the possible exception of Iosefka's bloodvial.
The way it is now I make it sound like Iosefka's bloodvial is a possible boss XD

So this is what Gehrman and the other Hunters did in canon-
I don't blame most of them for going mad
Wait, I understand why dying and returning to the dream wouldn't be in canon, as that's just a gameplay mechanic and would actually cause them to awaken, right? But in canon does the hunter still visit the dream via the lampposts? Cuz that's kind of plot essential.
@@jacobclark6002 Ofc return to the dream upon dying is also part of the lore and not just gameplay mechanic. The guy just saying that the Old Hunters really only have one life, and many doesn't have access to Hunter's Dream to revive them upon dying, instead they're sent to Hunter's Nightmare for the ones that going mad/blood drunk. As for Gehrman case, he has contract with Moon Presence to access Hunter's Dream, but before that point he's just like any other mortal hunters.
They had access to the workshop tho.
They had access to upgrades, blood gems, and stat upgrades
@@jacobclark6002 The Old Hunter's (or likely most of them, at least) didn't have access to the Hunter's Dream. It originated when Gherman made contact with the Moon Prescence. The Dream is actually a Nightmare connected to the Moon Prescence, like how the Hunter's Nightmare is connected to The Orphan of Kos, and The Nightmare of Mensis/Frontier is connected to Mergo (though all of those labeled are all part of one area, stacked on top of each other, presumably the Dream is also physically connected to the other Nightmares as well). In any case when a hunter is connected to the Dream and Moon Prescence, like the player character, then canonically they are effectively immortal, and do respawn at the lanterns and are able to visit the Dream. The Dream keeps them alive in order to continue hunting for the Moon Prescence. The Dream is referenced by both Djura and Eileen, and Eileen's dialogue makes it fairly clear that the Dream does make a hunter immortal until they "wake up" from it (via Gherman killing them within the Dream).
This is what would happen if it was just a normal dude who had to save Yharnam, no upgraded muscles or strong tools allowed
Blood echoes are what make hunters go mad, they represent the desire for blood slowly growing while you hunt. The doll is supposed to remove them and make you stronger with them. 2 birds, 1 stone. In theory, this run should end with the character succumbing to blood drunkenness and being sent to the Hunter's Nightmare. But I'm not sure how losing your echoes with the Hunter's Mark and teleporting with it is supposed to work in-universe, so whatever.
@@StephanuSneed that's a nice bit of lore. Also I think the hunters mark works by making the hunter forget the hunt and therefore lose blood echoes. The teleportation part might have something to do with the messengers but I'm not sure.
@@mcdonutboy9817 the Mark make the hunter wake "down" to the Hunter's Dream and cause the hunter to forget blood echoes? Basically what happend to most of your dream when you wake up only in reversed. That's how I interpered this.

Brings back so many memories. My first fromsoft game i considered giving up but was too interested in the world so my plan was just level up until i could move forward
omg gg dude i was close to go insane on my bl4 run ^^ cant imagine to do it without levling my weapon o_O
i like to think this is what it would be like if the character wasnt being controlled by the player, they are too scared of death so they try the hardest to not die, then at the end they try interacting with one of those lanterns and find out they could use help from god himself
Local man ends never ending nightmare looking for his pistol.
You're the best and almost completely unknown. I've subscribed just now. Your future is bright.
Thank you and welcome to the channel :)
This is by far one of the most insane runs I’ve seen or heard of. Kudos to you buddy
You’re an absolute legend for this run I just picked bloodborne back up because of this run! Great job
I like to think Gherman set the workshop on fire as if to mean it is not necessary for the hunter to complete their journey, that you are the best, and if any are to beat it without upgrades than so can we
@35:31 "Why are you running?!?!"
What an amazing playthrough!
Yeah because I ran away I failed to prevent the snakes from being summoned, but I lucked out fortunately.
*Wait correct that. It's hard to tell actually. I simply had bad RNG that he summoned the snakes despite me sticking close to him. But once they were up I obviously had to move away.
I don't know, it's actually kinda hard to tell
@@PressContinue My apologies! I was saying that in reference to the Shadow of Yharnam. The meme "Why are you running" was the first thing I thought when seeing it flee from you
@@crownlesssking2812 Ah ok. I wasn't evem familiar with that meme so I didn't recognize it.
In further reference to the Shadow of Yharnam fight:

"You spin me right round, baby / Right round like a record, baby / Right round round round"
God damn this was a legendary run. You are an absolute badass. This deserves WAY more views than it has 😁
