Just been in the garden playing with mine .the 5 point shape lends its self to a 3 points grounded at 90 degree and the other 2 points held up by poles .this gives you 2 planes of wind protection (other than the small gap created by the cut away edges .) Add a centre support pole for head height and you should get 2 people either side of the pole .
Top tip use blue tack on the end of your pole (gold one or treking .) And it will grip the fly sheet underneath very well and stop it puncturing

Ahhh yeah, I get what you mean. I’ll have another play and give that a try. Blue tack! That’s a really smart shout to be fair too. Cheers for that

Thanks for the video. I've got one on the way to use with a Phoxx 1 v2 for some extra space to cook and sit. Will let you know how I get on!

Oh yeah, that’s similar to my Vango. It works really well as an extension to your door and vestibule area

I might do the same actually as my favourite tent is also a trekking pole tent. Thank you for the sub. Check out my back catalogue, some fun adventures there

@@MineExplorerUK just needed a wee adjustment, probably didn’t need the poles at 130, recon 115 would be ideal.

Now try it in the wind with rain blowing in lol , it’s all personal choice Rob and what works best 👍 I’m not up to speed with the oex tarp sizes or setups 🤷‍♂️ if the wind is blowing ones side it’s a case of dropping the pole to protect from wind.

Aye that’s the thing that’s put me off using it. It’s a funny shaped tarp. Not brilliant for avoiding the wind

Got a couple of DD tarps. A small single person one and a large 3x3 I use when out with more than one person. Definitely the third and fourth look the best set ups👍 Been toying doing a bivy camp but still not got a bivy bag. I've got two mats and there are both wide rectangular ones. Been trying to find a bivy bag that will fit one in but most seem to be made more for the mummy size ones. Any ideas where I could get a larger one ? Been looking at the Alpkit Hukka XL.

Largest I’ve seen is a 3 x 3 in go outdoors. Think it’s a 3 x 3 in decathlon too. Meant to try a set up with one pole at an end and set it up sloping down towards a footend. I’m going to Keswick on Saturday before a camp with the intent of doing a wee of gear shopping so I’ll keep an eye out in alpkit and Cotswold
