    I love the Luciano tarp configuration. So does the cat, loves Luciano too. I love seeing the cat. Dave said those stakes may not work for hard ground, but actually those stakes work really well (better than titanium and many other types of stakes I have used in the hard packed, rock-laden, sandy-gravely ground we have here. I have tried so many different types of stakes, trying to find some that work decently.These stakes go in to the full length and I haven't bent one yet, I've bent many other stakes though. These are my favorites. So much so that I bought a bunch more similar (from another vendor since SRO doesn't sell them separately).

    Excellent video Dave! Really like the Luciano configuration. I've been wanting one of those tarps for some time now. Guess I'll just have to break down and pull the trigger on one.(Update: I just noticed that SRO is running a special on this tarp and the Pathfinder Hammock as a combo for US$69.99. Yeah, I jumped on one of those combo specials and ordered it. Two birds, one stone.) Thanks for the video Dave, and for sharing your thoughts, ideas and experience with us.

    I feel that the pre-made ridge line should be used for emergencies and if time is not an issue you should carry an extra piece of cordage with no knots so you can tie them on site so you get practice tying the needed knots. Tying knots is a skill you could have trouble with when you need it most.

    That triangle shelter with a 12x12 would be very comfortable in rough weather. The 8x8 looks a little cramped but dry and warm. I'm in Florida so it's almost always warm but the weather gets bad without warning. Thank you 👍 I'll be setting up that triangle tent this weekend.

      Take some paracord where ever u go. When u have a few mins of spare time, practice some knots. That’s what I do and it helps a lot to remember and absorb

    • @motrock93b
      @motrock93b Год назад +3

      I hear you! That's why I started carrying a 5 foot piece of paracord in my pocket to randomly practice a few essential knots. it's worked well, and I also now always have a way to hang my backpack/camelbak/jacket or whatever just by looping the cord around any tree/object and using any little toggle (stick) or other object (pocket knife, pencil, ?) as the "hook" by using a marlinspike loop. It takes up almost zero space in my pocket and has proven very useful. No more wet/muddy camelbak.
