***** yeah Trisfial Glades was soooo beautiful, it was truly an amazing experience, I know it might sound crazy, but possibly one of the best in my life.
So this was just really cool to see. I never got to see what a lot of the zones or even Stormwind or Orgrimmar looked like before the Cataclysm, since I started playing in early Cataclysm. Especially seeing "the park" i've been hearing about and the less spiky version of Orgrimmar. Really, really cool. Since I haven't had the experience of the older zones I still feel that the newer ones are pretty immersive, but since I don't have the previous experience I wouldn't have a true opinion either way. Great video, thanks for doing the side by side comparison, enjoyed it a lot.
He captured only a glimmer of the brevity of the zones. While I'm not going to rant about one or the other, I can tell you that besides the cosmetic differences the content differences are staggering in their scope. But then I've been playing since vanilla (since the game came out)
Divinemartyr Some content differences were for the better tho. For example that now you can be a healer with any class. Giving you more creativity and freedom. In vanilla you couldnt even enter a raid if you were Pally/Druid healer. 95% of the groups wanted only priest healers. Now everyone has been whining about LFD and how it ruined the dungeon experience. Im pretty sure that you'd spend ALOT of time getting to max level in WoD without LFD. No xp bonusses at the end. Its just one big mess most of the time. The most memoriable being Malkorok. Jesus, i wiped alot on Malkorok in LFR. Even explained everything to the group for 10-15 minutes and we still wiped. It wasnt even the damage because it was good but people just didnt bother to get the pools. Yes alot has changed. WHy? Because Blizzard also wants to aim towards their adult age group. You might be like ''what...'' now but let me explain. Adults (Especially fathers) have far less time on their hands then kids/teens. The time it took in Vanilla to get to 60 was just insane if you could play for a max of 1-2 hours a day. Teens on the other hand have 10 hours a day without homework. Everyone always keeps saying that WoW became more child friendly and that its too easy being the reason why more childs joined the game. Thats partially not true. Children would understand and learn the game far faster than adults. Cant say anything if you're not in a relationship and still live with your parents. Then you have all the time in the world. But those people are who mostly play the raids with you. its not some cool ass dude with a wife and kids. Its mostly 15 year olds and adults without a relationship living with their parents. There are some outstanders but that is how the community is. In every game. SO from my perspective, Blizzard tried to get more people with less time on their hands into the game by adding LFD and LFR.
Samantha Owens The old world was cool and all but honestly, from the things that were shown and talked about in the video, the new world is 100 times better. There are some bad points like the Park, the stone areas in front of the warrior/hunter buildings in Stormwind, Loch Modan actually having a Loch at one point, etc, but by-enlarge the new world is better. He mentioned near the end how you could die if you pulled more than one mob and he's right. Every single fight you would get into was tooth and nail and it is just the most freakishly exhausting thing you could imagine. I do wish there was an area in each zone similar to what we have in WoD where the difficulty is jacked way up, not to max level, just for the sake of giving people who want to group up or have looms some more challenging content to level through, but overall new WoW is much better than Old WoW.
I played Vanilla at a very Young Age, I had no idea what was going on, or what I was doing. I started to get more involved in the game during Wrath of the Lich King and understood it better (I had quit Vanilla due to my parents). For me, I enjoyed leveling in Wrath - WoD, but that probably was due to the fact I didn't know what I was doing in Vanilla and had a brief moment spend into it.
Doronsmovies I am exactly the same. Played when I was really young during BC but had no clue what I was doing. That's all changed thankfully :P I just wish I knew what I was doing earlier, I feel I missed some real memorable content.
I had a warlock on my brother's account, didn't use his demon, wore greys, and whites, and I auto-attacked things... I knew lore pretty well though from playing Warcraft 3 atleast? xD
+Skoll Shorties I played wow before the first expansion and stop right before the patch came out where you could fight death wing in cataclysm....im thinking about getting back into it with all the new content now.
Oh lol well i think all the expansions had their pros and cons, there are things i liked about vanilla and there are things i like about now. When i was playing vanilla i was alot younger and could give it all the time it needed. Life changes and although i look at back then fondly, No i don't think it was "better" overall then future expansions.
I have not played wow since 2012 but they really ruined the undead zones. They really used to be scary with all the rain and fog, the atmosphere was amazing, now it looks like green goo shit, sort of like a parody. And i really dont understand why would they take weather effects away, i think it has something to do with allowing players fly in Azeroth?
WHERE IS MY FUCKING RAIN ?????? Oh god, all those terrains with weather effects actually looked good! Why did they not implemented those on future expansions??
Because they were afraid, back then, that with the Cataclysm revamp, nobody's PCs were going to be able to handle it. :( Now a days, I don't understand why the don't it it now. Everyone could run it fine!
+nisx2012 I would disagree. I stopped playing WOD before I got my flight license(or whatever it is called in WOD) and still it felt pretty small. Same for Legion(judging by videos). Just take a look at what they did to the Barrens. Great zone once, but they had to split it in two.. just goes to show what their view of world and zone size is.
for a lazy peon you put a lot of work in this vid and it shows! it is great:) absolutely love it! sometimes I'd like to have the ability to go back to old content (as well as old version of dungeons; DM & SM *sob*). I never noticed the change in the weathersystem. vanilla has a stronger emphasis on the RPG part (before wow mmorpg's were ridiciously punishing and way harder than they are today and blizz orientation were those mmorpg's of old) whereas the revamped content in cata emphasizes the mmo part and everything they learned since vanilla! I fondly remember those mobs and quests that have been really hard in vanilla but you should not forget that you sometimes had no quests at all (I am looking at you Hinterlands and Silithus- srsly why is Silithus in the game?) or you are just too low at the moment for certain parts of the zone (the glory of old STV; without a mount and on foot it was a massive zone spanning 13-15 levels)
anyone remember the plague that hit the game turning players and npcs into zombies? that must have been just around the release of Naxx, I wish Blizzard would do more fun events like that
The snow effect is why i loved the dwarf start place. Wish they added back weather effects i loved the snowy feel. Ty for the trip of nostalgia. -norway.
Yea, Idk, maybe it's because I'm a wrath baby but I definitely prefer the new zones over the old ones. The old ones simply look like the game if I were to turn off view distance to the lowest settings and remove all the new and enhanced graphical settings and lighting effects. Not really sure why Vanilla people tend to speak only for themselves when they say the zones "used" to feel very grand in scale and more immersive etc. When I first joined WoW, despite it being late Wrath, I felt the same exact way. Each zone felt grand in scale, scary, immersive, dangerous, and I wondered what dangers laid in wait out there in the open world. Personally I believe when it comes to the look and feel of the world, the game has only progressed. Story wise, maybe some of the older zones were better, wouldn't really know. But I definitely love the lighting effects and graphical settings of the world today over the old one.
YES, bring back immersive weather!! Also on a sidenote, I would like to have a phasing added-in for Loch Modan where after completing a certain rank of the questing in the area (or after you complete Wetlands) you go back to find the Dwarves set at work rebuilding the Stonewrought Dam: nothing major just a small section of wall and scaffolding to show a sense of progress with the zone. If Stormwinds towers can be fixed and not on fire, than surely we'd see a degree of progress on the dest damn dam in the whole game.
I agree, back in the early days, the world felt a lot more dangerous, I really had the sense of being safe whenever I was in a major city. Exploring and travelling with caution was one of the things I enjoyed a lot. You really had to be careful, I remember back in TBC, I had to travel to booty bay on my lev30 Night Elf hunter, man, that was a challenge, the monkeys had such a huge aggro-range on them because they were so much higher level than I was, they came running towards me from miles away! Nowadays, you just jump on your mount and run through everything without even the slightest risk of ending up dead. For new players now, there's only the rush to get to max level to see the game. Back in vanilla/TBC, even Wotlk, most of the game revolved more around levelling up your character and exploring all the different regions. Nowadays you just queue up for dungeons and before you know it you are maxlev and queuing up for LFR ready to become an LFR-hero.
I'm sorry but I was there for Vanilla and even now watching this video I must honestly say that up to now the entirety of the superficially changed zones are completely improved upon. Stormwind honestly felt like a cluttered mess, and while it's not perfect now, I must say it's an improvement. adding in better coloration, heck stormwind is the perfect example of just about everything improved upon. worst thing I guess is that the nice park district is gone, but honestly again, all a major improvement. But the weather effects I do sorely miss. they gave all of the environments character.
Blizzard kind of made you feel irrelevant in the beginning and even up until the very end once you got the best gear, which took forever. In the newer games you are the center of attention and you get through things very easily. That's the difference; one makes you feel part of a greater world where you are a small part while the other makes you feel like the center of if. The latter I feel makes people lose interest.
This video hit home for me. I just loved the side by side comparison. I've played for 10 years, and the difference of the game then to now... I was 12 when I started the game. It really has changed and so have I. You visited most the zones I was stuck in because I was too immature of a player. Thank you for the video, it brought back great memories.
Ugh! Great video Lazy! It brought me back to when I first fell in love with WoW raiding MC as a warrior tank. The zones have changed quite dramatically in some cases. Footage like this makes the allure of private servers hard to resist for a veteran player like myself. Keep the great footage coming man! Perhaps a video of which legendary weapons can still be obtained might be worthwhile.
dont be. the game then had lots of unfair gameplay and some specs for class's were just plain not usable. grinding took far to long and pvp was just so time consuming like you have to not go to school or have a job to get high in pvp. questing was harder to do but if u want that same difficulty just play the zones with only white or gray armor then you should be fine.
Even if the graphics never got the update it's crazy how well they (the graphics) have aged. It's still really awesome to have new models and having the old world revamped,
The game had more of a "gritty" appearance in it's heyday. Textures had less detail and there was less flora. The differences in the weather effects are also very apparent. Despite this, the earlier versions of the game managed to provide more immersion and scale despite all of the content and graphical updates that were later added. People said the game looked "cartoony" back in the day, but it looks much more that way now... Who knows, but maybe I'm biased because I started played when the game came out. I quit when Mists of Pandaria was released.
Naah. I liked old Orgrimmar, but looking at it now, the textures really are ugly. Maybe reusing the old style with new, improved textures, but it wouldn't make much sense from a lore point of view.
for someone who didn't get to see much of vanilla, I really appreciated this video. makes me miss the old days. I was started just before BC came out and I remember coming back in Cata and was devastated by the places I loved, destroyed. good vid. keep it up!
Wow, great job man! I have been playing this game for almost 13 years (counting the beta) and I think you did a great job of showing all the changes. Many of them are over looked. I started playing as Alliance so I was totally shocked to see what Orgrimmar looked like!
As a new World of Warcraft player, when I see stuff like this I wish I had started playing sooner to see if it's really as nice as everyone say it was xD Back then WoW was extremely expensive in my country and I could not afford it.
Just imagine wow as it is now just without fun raid encounters, lfr, queues, viable classes, dailies, flying and alot of things that make wow so fluid. Now what does it offer, grinding nightmare, you see back in vanilla there were only enough quests to get you up to lvl 50, so from 50 you had to grind xp and after every kill you had to eat and drink, the only way to get gold was by grinding , how could you be allowed into raids? When you had grinded the same dungeons for months and you finally had gear for the appropriate resistance the raid required. Dont listen to those vanilla fanboys their judgement is clouded by the nostalgia (same goes for tbc/wotlk babies)
+MysteriousUNO i know. but i do miss all the community and questing groups and shit. The gameplay is much better now, but i wish people would be more social. maybe im playing on the wrong type of server (pvp). that and i wish theyd bring back those weathers. they look cool and would look even better on current content. also wish theyd update fucking blood elf starting area.
+MysteriousUNO Indeed it was a grind. But it never ONCE felt like one because of everything that was happening around you. It was truly an immersive world and precisely because top-tier content required that immense grind made it so much sweeter once reached. Its a choice you do it or you dont but you still enjoy the game. I never got to experience top tier content in vanilla but I had amazing moments and lots of fun. Now you have access to everything and everything is easymode. What made WoW is in a way gone unfortunately.
Man I used to play in vanilla but I had no idea how different everything looked these days....obviously the world changed in cataclysm but the small changes in buildings and floors is so subtle and vanilla was so long ago that you just forget how everything looked.
so basically in terms of detail current is better, scale arguably vanilla is better since no flying mounts, vanilla atmosphere is better and I think lightning in current is better so 50/50?
seriously the weather effects were awesome. and honestly, the only zone i really wish they had not changed was thousand needles but its cool how it looks now too
The Teldrassil music is such a nostalgia trip for me. I love the zone still, but playing through the zone for the first time is truly an experience, especially in an age when none of us lowbies really knew what to expect from the game. Getting on the boat to Menethil Harbor and realizing that there was another continent was mind blowing.
Oh my god, this video made me SO nostalgic for old Orgrimmar! I had mostly forgotten what Brill and Tarren Mill looked like, but I still have memories of old Org and this just made my heart hurt for those days.
Some vanilla zones were better than warlords, some warlords better than vanilla. However I will say that if we had those weather effects back in the game (toggle on and off of course) it would make zones look so much better. It's weird and a bit dumb to be in a zone where it never rains, or a snowy zone and never see any snow falling.
Eh, I played it shortly after release and it was really good when it came out, but it's much better now. The questing and leveling experience is so much more enjoyable, and the end game raids have more to do with managing the bosses mechanics than trying to get 40 people to pay attention for a 30 minute long fight.
They took all the ambience out of the zones. Especially darkshire, menethill, dun morogh, tirisfall glades. Darkshire used to be spooky to level in (especially on pvp servers) and tirisfall glades looked like somewhere that would harbor the dead. Now the game just looks sterile and bright.
wow this is really interesting to see. Thank you for making this :) It's been such a long time since i've seen old org and brill etc. It's really weird that you see it barely rain/ snow in some zones. I loved the snow effect in front of ironforge. It gives so much more immersion in the game. I also loves the rain effects in goldshire etc. maybe they should bring that back(if its not already in the game) this was really fun to look at and compare, and I really want to see more of it :)
We need the weather affects!! How dark it got at night and how the sun would really rise and set. Now it gets kinda dark and maybe it rains or snows. But when it really snowed or really rained it was amazing how it added to being apart of the world but still not having to get wet or cold lol
Thank you for this video! Oh gosh, the nostalgia hit me hard /wipes tears/! Like what you've expressed, the zones definitely felt a lot more massive and dangerous, and I recall finally entering dark shore after grinding levels on an hpriest (yes in vanilla, my friends are evil for pushing that role to me), and immediately being struck by how beautiful yet foreboding it is! I'll never not be sore about it being destroyed in Cata, so thank you for giving me a chance to feel even a flicker of said awe again in this video c:
And here you are again. I see you on EVERY damn WoW video. Do you have a life or are you just sitting behind your PC and hating on WoW? If you don't like it, don't watch it and don't play it. Oh sorry, i forgot you are the one who says WoW sucks but still plays it.
I miss the weather effects. I've written articles about the night time we used to have. Night used to be really dark, and the NPCs would carry lamps at night, and the cities would be lit up by lamplight. That was so much more immersive. Buzzard got rid of it because they think that more people will play more often if it's daytime all of the time. But playing at night was something I really liked. I have a lot of gripes over some of the changes they've made over the years, but bringing back nighttime would make me happy. They should also put in difficulty settings for people who want more of a challenge while leveling.
***** It's why Peon isn't going to, as it could get his account shut down. People already report his name because of his channel (And a GM did try to change his name.) If he promoted it, well then they'd send this to blizzard and that would not be good. By keeping it unknown and really using it for just footage, he's using a loop hole. ... Or would you rather something happen?
This was an incredible video! Such nostalgia! I'm a late vanilla baby and this just made me long for the old days. I've always had this feeling that the world felt bigger back then, but could never figure out why. But this video proved it. Holy cow the weather? Why'd they change that? Also I totally remember the game being way harder back then. Like I have memories of a Black Fathom Depths taking forever and feeling epic when it was finished. Great video! How'd you get on a vanilla server? That'd be great fun... I'd like to do that sometime. I started my wore WoW life as a warrior turned hunter... But became a pally in BC. While I have a lot of alts (who doesn't?), my main will always be my Ret Pally. It'd be awesome to try pally in vanilla since I never had the chance to do that.
They need to bring back the weather effects. Complete immersion for anyone. Now i remember how vanilla made me feel like a survivor rather than a hero. Love live too tho, just need more weather effects
I got WoW after Cata, but I used to play a bunch of trials before that (because I really wanted to play WoW) and I loved leveling night elves. Me and my friend sometimes played trials together, and I have vivid memories of us running around in Auberdine together. It was horrible to level my actual main once I got the game and have to walk in the wreckage of Auberdine, because I had really loved the place.
One thing I remember Arathi highlands for is that massive rain storm when I first entered it! That was so amazing ! Hope that those weather effects return at some point.
I've been playing since Wrath, I really, really miss the old zones. Seeing old Orgimmar and Stormwind made me sad. But I'm those people that get hooked on nostalgia. I have some really good memories tied in to playing those old zones. Also, I would love to see the intense weather effects again. Every once in while I when I play Arathi Basin, there is some heavy rain. I'm so happy to see that when that happens.
Kudos to you! Warrior was the hardest to level in Vanilla. Most classes could kill a mob 2/3 levels above, or 2-3 mobs at a time. Warriors struggled with this and, with the heavy cost of repairing gear, struggled to buy the lvl 40 mount. I loved private realms, but found that the majority of people were american so couldn't raid due to the time difference.
I honestly would love the Old, exploring feeling back onto WoW. Since the Revamp of the Cataclysm WoW has been a place where even noobs would know every quest, place. Anything. When i began playing End TBC i explored every zone, cave, place, just to explore Nowadays you will be lvl 100 with 3 days play time, in vanilla/tbc it was a such more dangerous place, it took some to level in months, some maybe even a year! But all on all: A really good video, brought back some of my TBC days although this was vanilla, it didnt change the zones in TBC. I especially loved the back ground music, fits the Adventure-ey style of Vanilla Keep em goin buddy' -Dexa
i honestly miss vanilla so much back then it was so fun 2 actually level your character without any of these speed buffs and everything i would go back to vanilla at any time, Love ur videos man keep of the work :D
Something really cool in Vanilla was the rain and weather efects that somehow it isn't the same now days. It was a very atmospheric enviroment, and its sound... very relaxing
That was an awesome video dude, it really made me remember all the fun times I had in early WoW. Back when was a little noob in a big strange and unexplored world :D
I really miss the old weather effects, they were so cool! especially the Iron Forge snow effect.. and I really miss the old Orgrimmar..
i do really miss all the effects for weather and time of day, night was really dark, rain made it hard to see, snow felt like a blizzard. if they brought this back it would make the game much better in my opinion.
Why did they take it out?
Connster212 i honestly dont know myself
+cory “Dark Fire” Lockman framerate issues i think
well, u could always deactivate the effects.
I miss nights actually being dark. The cool weather effects in most zones. The moon scrolling across the sky if you were outside during the night time. And mostly the sense of scale in the world. That you were essentially one foot soldier in the world of Warcraft 3.

If you enjoyed this video tonight I'm uploading a vanilla world pvp battle with about 200+ players on each side.
Cant wait :D
Is it from Nostalrius private server`? Where there are 5-6k players online at all times?
There are that many players on private servers? Wow, didn't know that.
what is the name of the server you play on vanila?
Yeah, en.nostalrius.org/ Check it out and sign up! 6596 people online atm :)
The Zones are in general better, I just really miss Thousand Needles, Old Tirisfal and Silverpine Forest. And of course the Weather Effects!
And Darkshore
never forget old orgrimar I was really hoping they would change it back after mop
The only thing I never liked about the revamp was the split in the 2 zones for instanbce, the barrens and stranglethorn vale, also those weather effects in vanilla was pretty awesome :)

yeah Trisfial Glades was soooo beautiful, it was truly an amazing experience, I know it might sound crazy, but possibly one of the best in my life.

I always had my heartstone in Brill. Orgrimmar? Shattrath? Dalaran? Nah, fuck that! I'll go back to Brill.

Almost exactly the same for me. I started playing wow at wotlk, seriously as well and I played earlier but was also at a young age. :D
I knew lore pretty well though from playing Warcraft 3 atleast? xD
***** same
+Skoll Shorties I played wow before the first expansion and stop right before the patch came out where you could fight death wing in cataclysm....im thinking about getting back into it with all the new content now.
4:04 Blizzard needs to put the Blizzard back into Blizzard.
true
Times change
I do miss the snow in Iron Forge and Dun Morogh.
Why did they get rid of the snow particles in ironforge?
+MYTHOLOGY Az sad ;(
Sad thing, is that HAS been in the game since vanilla. It was weather effects and you could turn it on and off.
Nice pants.
lol
Mooclucking indeed that pants looks gorgeous
Mm goes well with the boots and chest too, the shirt finishes it perfectly
Nice boat
The weather effects should come back
Inb4 "Vanilla was so much better"
I've enjoyed the journey so far, can't wait to see what the future will hold!
what?
Oh lol well i think all the expansions had their pros and cons, there are things i liked about vanilla and there are things i like about now. When i was playing vanilla i was alot younger and could give it all the time it needed. Life changes and although i look at back then fondly, No i don't think it was "better" overall then future expansions.
Big Matty Were vanilla do you wow much revamps better zones?
Wow Jedi we probably wont get high elves since we already have them as blood elves.
Big Matty inb4 Inb4 "Vanilla was so much better", man let people have their opinions without judging them...
+snyderkurva exactly, i dont mind humour in the game, but this is too much, it looks goofy, not like undead place.
I miss the old WoW. iv recently decided to try it out again since 2011-2012 and its changed so much
lol, i like the part at the cross roads where it went from all of those people to only one in the next seen XD
WHERE IS MY FUCKING RAIN ?????? Oh god, all those terrains with weather effects actually looked good! Why did they not implemented those on future expansions??
Times change (people with Chinese pc's)
Because they were afraid, back then, that with the Cataclysm revamp, nobody's PCs were going to be able to handle it. :( Now a days, I don't understand why the don't it it now. Everyone could run it fine!
They should add it as a graphics option
Everything just feels so freaking small in wod...
+Toini01 Thats because you have a flying mount now.
+nisx2012 I would disagree. I stopped playing WOD before I got my flight license(or whatever it is called in WOD) and still it felt pretty small. Same for Legion(judging by videos). Just take a look at what they did to the Barrens. Great zone once, but they had to split it in two.. just goes to show what their view of world and zone size is.
how could they fuck up something so good?
fuck up? most of the Vanilla stuff was messy. most of the is a improvement on looks.
Maybe it's the nostalgia kicking in.. you know how it is!
for a lazy peon you put a lot of work in this vid and it shows! it is great:) absolutely love it! sometimes I'd like to have the ability to go back to old content (as well as old version of dungeons; DM & SM *sob*).
I know, mob grinding was a big thing in Vanilla, the game wasn't perfect but I do love the difficulty :)
I might be a noob but a Quest chain (via phazing) in for example the old western plaguelands or so would be huge
Melvin god no don't even joke it wasn't even finished and the released it
anyone remember the plague that hit the game turning players and npcs into zombies? that must have been just around the release of Naxx, I wish Blizzard would do more fun events like that
+shadow6543 I wish I was in it sounds fun nobody does that stuff now
The snow effect is why i loved the dwarf start place. Wish they added back weather effects i loved the snowy feel. Ty for the trip of nostalgia. -norway.
Both Orgrimar and Stormwind were cozzier in Vanilla :/
WHAT DID YOU DO TO MENETHIL HARBOR?!?!?! ;_; (used to be one of my favorite places pre-Cata)
Jonathan Dahlberg I loved that too! One of the best places to attack with a Horde gang =D Lots of ships coming and going.
its funny when you look at the vanilla zones how many more playeres there are compared to warlords of draenor
Exactly.
everyone in WoD are probably in the new zones :)
+allen curtis What you want to say is : "Everyone in WoD is surely in their garrison. Except the case when they're raiding , which is once a week.
+Adrian Z That isn't problem of the expansion. That is problem of the playera
Mr.MatheusDP Then that means that players that play on private servers are way better than those that currently play on retail.
This video made me realize how much I love WoW. The music, the scenarios. Thank you :)
Weather effects looks great, we should still have those.
***** Ateish is the one item I was motivated to get as I'm resurrecting my mage when I start playing WOD again lol. Ugh such is life!
Just recently started WoW.. So terribly disappointed I missed the Vanilla experience..
dont be. the game then had lots of unfair gameplay and some specs for class's were just plain not usable. grinding took far to long and pvp was just so time consuming like you have to not go to school or have a job to get high in pvp. questing was harder to do but if u want that same difficulty just play the zones with only white or gray armor then you should be fine.
>>>elysium-project.org/play
I think old wow feels more like you're actually in the world
+JS8222 currently 0 ppl online :,(
***** The best place to host private servers currently is Russia
I'm so overwhelmed by the soundtrack. Lots of great memories come up again.Back then the music greatly contributed to the wow experience
Liek if u miss old Orgrimmmar.
+Leafyisbeefy they messed up the plague lands with that stupid green stuff
Naah. I liked old Orgrimmar, but looking at it now, the textures really are ugly. Maybe reusing the old style with new, improved textures, but it wouldn't make much sense from a lore point of view.
Idk im playing wotlk and i never saw new map and stuff and i like new orgrimmar more
for someone who didn't get to see much of vanilla, I really appreciated this video. makes me miss the old days. I was started just before BC came out and I remember coming back in Cata and was devastated by the places I loved, destroyed. good vid. keep it up!
I want those weather effects back!
Wow, great job man! I have been playing this game for almost 13 years (counting the beta) and I think you did a great job of showing all the changes. Many of them are over looked. I started playing as Alliance so I was totally shocked to see what Orgrimmar looked like!
As a new World of Warcraft player, when I see stuff like this I wish I had started playing sooner to see if it's really as nice as everyone say it was xD
Back then WoW was extremely expensive in my country and I could not afford it.
This made me really emotional, I haven't seen the old landscapes in so long. It made me especially realize how much I miss the weather effects.
So it no longer rains?
Man I used to play in vanilla but I had no idea how different everything looked these days....obviously the world changed in cataclysm but the small changes in buildings and floors is so subtle and vanilla was so long ago that you just forget how everything looked.
so basically in terms of detail current is better, scale arguably vanilla is better since no flying mounts, vanilla atmosphere is better and I think lightning in current is better so 50/50?
seriously the weather effects were awesome. and honestly, the only zone i really wish they had not changed was thousand needles but its cool how it looks now too
Old Orgrimmar!! Urgh I miss it!
I know it was Cata that changed it then Warlords change everything else with new graphics. Which looks bla bla bla.
God damn, blizzard please. Forget the toasters, bring back weather effects.
Oh my god, this video made me SO nostalgic for old Orgrimmar! I had mostly forgotten what Brill and Tarren Mill looked like, but I still have memories of old Org and this just made my heart hurt for those days.
Dun Morogh and Ironforge need their weather effects back asap
This was great. Nice to see all the old stuff.
I wish I played World of Warcraft when it first released... would of been cool to have that nostalgic memory.
Omg a 4 poligon rock.. oh wait, that's a vanilla's npc
We need the weather affects!! How dark it got at night and how the sun would really rise and set. Now it gets kinda dark and maybe it rains or snows. But when it really snowed or really rained it was amazing how it added to being apart of the world but still not having to get wet or cold lol
Vanilla kicks the shit out of WoD
Thank you for this video! Oh gosh, the nostalgia hit me hard /wipes tears/! Like what you've expressed, the zones definitely felt a lot more massive and dangerous, and I recall finally entering dark shore after grinding levels on an hpriest (yes in vanilla, my friends are evil for pushing that role to me), and immediately being struck by how beautiful yet foreboding it is! I'll never not be sore about it being destroyed in Cata, so thank you for giving me a chance to feel even a flicker of said awe again in this video c:
99% of wow players nowadays never played back in the times when the game was actually really good and not for low IQ casuals, gg
then the game would be perfect for you now, if it is low iq casuals.
And here you are again. I see you on EVERY damn WoW video. Do you have a life or are you just sitting behind your PC and hating on WoW? If you don't like it, don't watch it and don't play it. Oh sorry, i forgot you are the one who says WoW sucks but still plays it.
Don't feed the troll
vvvortic But vvortic, you need to focus so your teammates can hold you back less. You deserve challenjour.
i feel u man:) my best gaming years was during vanilla
I miss the weather effects. I've written articles about the night time we used to have. Night used to be really dark, and the NPCs would carry lamps at night, and the cities would be lit up by lamplight. That was so much more immersive. Buzzard got rid of it because they think that more people will play more often if it's daytime all of the time. But playing at night was something I really liked. I have a lot of gripes over some of the changes they've made over the years, but bringing back nighttime would make me happy. They should also put in difficulty settings for people who want more of a challenge while leveling.
ok but why the fuck can't i have that weather shit back that was sick
only being 18 I also started in bc and I almost forgot how the old zones looked this is amazing just to see them again
Whats the music? Btw nice vid!
World of warcraft soundtrack, check the credits :)
Yeah ik, just wondering the exact music
TheLazyPeon P server link, and a how to to connect to it PLOX?
Oh man... this video brought feels from old times. Thanks Peon
TheLazyPeon. Please link me to the Vanilla server! I would love to play it again!
please answer!
Promoting private servers is against the tos.
en.nostalrius.org/
***** It's why Peon isn't going to, as it could get his account shut down. People already report his name because of his channel (And a GM did try to change his name.) If he promoted it, well then they'd send this to blizzard and that would not be good. By keeping it unknown and really using it for just footage, he's using a loop hole.
... Or would you rather something happen?
***** that was uncalled for.Im sorry that im different.
When I see pictures of the entrance to Ironforge it takes me back to vanilla when everybody were out there dueling. Good times..
Did you guys actualy notice something? Like Vannila WoW zones are full of people but WoD is completly empty.
Everyone is on orgrimmar / stormwind :S
Orlando Figueroa Mayorga Is that like another word for Garrison? :P
The nostalgia I got from the shot with Vanilla ogrimmar... Had to pause for a minute and just admire!
Vanilla BRILL town was SO much fuckin better back in the days...fuck those new greenish lights spammed everywhere and shining glitterish effects....
It'd be awesome to try pally in vanilla since I never had the chance to do that.
lawl. I've heard pally was pretty rough back then. But still would be fun to mess with it.
Is it Nostalrius you're playing on? :)
TheLazyPeon i walked right past you in nostalrius just thinking you were another fan...
They need to bring back the weather effects. Complete immersion for anyone. Now i remember how vanilla made me feel like a survivor rather than a hero. Love live too tho, just need more weather effects
I like the new Thousand Needles better......................
Said NO ONE EVER!
Also the weather effects were just amazing. Oh! And I remember having to fight a spirit bear to get my bear form... That was so much fun.
ORGRIMMAR LOOKED SO MUCH BETTER BACK THEN
One thing I remember Arathi highlands for is that massive rain storm when I first entered it! That was so amazing ! Hope that those weather effects return at some point.
old Org ;_; ohh right in the feelz D:
theos42985 gotta an ugly city? BAM! horde touch
I never realized how much I wanted weather effects back, until now. :C
Nostalgia'd right in the feels.
Cataclysm destroyed the whole world of Warcraft
呃台語卡拉 ㄊㄨㄘㄊ ̇ㄟ wasn't that the point and story of this update.. lol
Vanilla or Wod Mulgore is still coziest place blizzard ever made
+St.Cetot yes! after all these yers... still best
Danger dolan? Is that you
I hope Blizzard sees this and realizes that the weather in vanilla wow was pretty awesome.
Did this make any other pre-cata babies very sad?
I honestly would love the Old, exploring feeling back onto WoW.
Since the Revamp of the Cataclysm WoW has been a place where even noobs would know every quest, place. Anything.
When i began playing End TBC i explored every zone, cave, place, just to explore
Nowadays you will be lvl 100 with 3 days play time, in vanilla/tbc it was a such more dangerous place, it took some to level in months, some maybe even a year!
But all on all: A really good video, brought back some of my TBC days although this was vanilla, it didnt change the zones in TBC.
I especially loved the back ground music, fits the Adventure-ey style of Vanilla
Keep em goin buddy'
-Dexa
RIP NOST
Great video idea! Please Mr.Peon keep them coming
they fucked up orgrimmar so bad.
I loved the weather effects they made the world look so intense with the heavy rain and massive blizzards
WoD is x20 times better, no argument about that.
Definitely bring back the intense weather...good to see the comparison..
i honestly miss vanilla so much back then it was so fun 2 actually level your character without any of these speed buffs and everything i would go back to vanilla at any time, Love ur videos man keep of the work :D
This made me cry :,( I have so many memories of these places and now they are gone. I started crying at the darkshore part
