I checked it out, subscribed and have Pirelli Superbike tires (I just cannot do "tyres") queued as first up. Reminded me of my 70s tire sole sandals though I probably didn't get the same mileage out of those.

I bought a pair of Florsheim Cordovans in 1967. Two years later I took them into the new cobbler in town for a good cleaning and polishing and to have toe and heal cleats installed. He did good, competent work, at a fair price so I kept returning.
Last year at 78 years old I decided to retire and took my old, well worn, but well cared for Cordovans in for one last clean and shine.
My cobbler had sold his business and this was his last day at the shop. As he took down his "First Dollar Earned"frame from the wall he filled out the pick up tag with my info, put the dollar bill in the new owners hand, tied the laces together, tucked the tag in the toe and we walked out the door arm in arm.

Steve. Again, Thank You. Your patience in teaching your audience about proper shoe care and repair is much appreciated. Oddly, this restoration took me back about 45 years and I felt some true nostalgia. Again, Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I learn something new every time I watch; forgive the rude remarks about essential tremors - some people will never understand good manners. Your graciousness is a lesson in itself.

    • @zefdin101

The funny part is the man is totally up front and he gives his prices, right at the beginning of his videos and people complain about it. News Alert...no one is making you send your shoes to him? The person who owns these shell Cordovan shoes clearly thought the price was fair. People are really thick-headed.

  • @Viper1392000

I don't think the people complaining about the price understand that you have to pay for your time, experience and attention to detail, if you want a job done right to a certain standard you have to pay for it. Keep up the great work.

Steve, some people just don't get it: $865 divided by 25 years = $34.60 for a pair of Florsheims a year!! You're not charging enough! Love your loyalty to your craft; perfection at its highest.

    • @nathandkreosote9917

I love bedo and his work, but it really don't think whoever is using these shoes plans on wearing them for 25 years straight. It seems like these might be family shoes, maybe his father wore them and they are only really going to be worn on special occasion. I'd spend as much money on something I want to remember and keep in good shape, but not so much the stuff I plan on really using and beating up.

12 hours of work and then 800 Dollars, that's really not much indeed actually, . People sometimes forget what someone's time is worth. Very nice job, I'm not a guy for super duper detail everywhere, I usually don't like the extra metal bits on the front. But this one is actually nice, not too much. :)

Lookin' spiffy there Steve! I know people are always shocked by how much a quality shoe repair/restore/Betovated job costs, but a quality job means those shoes can last at least another 10-15 years (and that works out to less than $75 a year, and you'd pay that if you were getting cheap shoes every year). Great work as always Steve and I still want to stop by and see you when I'm on the east coast some day!

$865 might sound steep but given the amount of stuff that needed to be done, it was worth the money. You're paying for the expertise of the cobbler, not just parts and labor. Old school shoe cobblers are rare these days and if taken care of, those shoes will easily last 20 years or more. Bravo Zulu, Steve.
