Yup, so when the big banks are going bankrupt they can legally take your savings accounts. 60% over 100,000 and 40% under 100,000. The “buy in” sounds so non threatening doesn’t it. This is law in Canada.

Give them control of our hard earned money means they can control every aspect of our lives. We need money to survive and they have our info. We need to protests banks.
Could the Liberal government, Stats Canada, credit bureau's not be sued by Canadians that have had their accounts retrieved by Stats Canada ??
Does anybody realize that for most Canadians, the banks do not need your social security number? Once they have it, they have it. But you don't have to give it to them unless you're gaining taxable interest.

One does not need a bank account. All it does it make the bankers richer through fractional reserve banking; the money that's yours but you'll never see. And despite this we're still charged outrageous fees and get hardly any interest. If you absolutely must have a bank account don't provide a SIN number when opening the account; it is NOT required, even though they'll certainly ask for it.

You know what? I'm actually ok with the gov't getting full access to my banking info...provided that we, the Canadian people, get FULL access to justin's banking info. And I mean FULL. Every single cent, time, date, destination and reason. Give me that and I will happily open my banking info to pretty much anyone.

Gold is too valuable, it is not highly tradeable like cash is. Silver may work though..
I trust stats can with keeping my information private but I'm concerned about the transfer and several other issues.
Having said that you won't find out much about me from looking at my bank account. I sometimes pay for things with cash but usually with my credit card. Very little goes through my bank account except my mortgage and the corner store that doesn't take credit cards.
If they wanted to know if I made enough money each month to cover my bills they should have asked me. You can't see my bills in my bank account either.
There nothing wrong with what stats can is doing if the data is stripped properly. Question is whether they do it properly. The added problem here is we have a bunch of politicians talking about data when they have no clue about the technicals, just adding to the paranoia for their own agenda.

@@Nikia2165 true, especially if they use the same people who made the Phoenix Payroll system hahaha. This is not a privacy issue. It's a competency issue. All the privacy can be protected if the system is designed right. It's not that difficult at all.
@@albertongoogle I've worked with meta data for a long time. The primaryleak problem is the bags of protein hanging around the source, not so much the hash protected silicon chip, although even that can be reverse engineered. Can you trust the protein interface... history says not if the $$$takes are high enough. And this fills that bill..
There is no benefit to society for them to have peoples bank accounts. Any 12 year old, with the access they have already, could get the supposed info they want, "whether a white woman shops at a bakery" without having access to our accounts.
