Fixing Youview Humax box (nearly ready booting problem)

I had the problem of my Humax Youview box not booting up, it had power and displayed the loading screen but never got to the point I could actually watch to etc. I took the hard drive out and gave it it's own power source and connected the data cable back into he motherboard and it worked first time.
I couldn't really believe it to be honest, gave it a try and it worked! Let me know if this worked for you too!

I've had no end of problems with these Humax youview boxes. I'm currently on my second box, which I recently replaced the hard drive on. Worked for a month or so, now it's playing up. I'm definitely going to try this solution.

mrmactknife let me know if it works! It eventually broke in a different way...
I just bought a replacement from Amazon and paid for a 4 year warranty.

I bet your wife loves that! Is it not a failing capacitor on the power supply board? Any bulging ends?

Mike Onfreeserve video is old now.. I couldn’t see anything at the time but most likely was the problem in some way. Just a quick fix..
