I know the feeling about wanting another Taylor. I'll have to try it before I buy it. I've tried an American Dream, but had been spoiled by my 614ce, BE 717e and GS Mini. Great demo and good sounding guitar. Thanks

    • @texhaines9957

@@tgf5652 I liked the 317 but got the 717e for a rounder bass. I already owned a GSmini, a 614ce, and Martin D28. I played the AD17 but the edge of the fret board seemed rough or sharp to me catching the side of my hand. Maybe it was just that guitar. Maybe not. I'd need to try out the GT before I could give you a fair comparison. Tied up with family things right now. The shorter scale is intriguing. My GS Mini is probably headed for a grandchild.

I now have the 8 series, $3900. Filed down bridge, light strings, and still sounds so rich.
ALL TAYLORS are so nice. This is MY OPINION NOW, My friend has a $4000 Martin, and , to me, Taylor blows it away.
I could never see the lure for Martin, I have a cheap Yamaha that sounds better that his Martin. I have , over the years, played many Martins, could never afford them, but then, Taylor. WOW.

Hey guys! I have a Taylor 517, but it does something weird my other guitars don't:
After you play a chord and then dampen all strings with your left hand, the resonance of the wood keeps sounding for like 10 or 20 seconds...
When I do the same on my Emerald or Takamine guitars, they are silent almost immediately, just a very short trail.

So I put on a mask and drove to my local music shop (not Alamo Music) to try the Taylor GT urban ash. Yes, it is very comfortable to play. Sounds good. That being said, at this price point, I questioned the quality at least on the one I was playing, to say that urban ash sounds like mahogany is a stretch. I do like the using readily available wood.

Great video! Is this guitar meant to rival Martin’s Dreadnought Junior? With the nut width between 1 3/4” & 1 11/16”, did they really find a sweet spot or do you still prefer a 1 3/4” nut width?
(I currently own a Martin DJR and just ordered a Martin 000c Junior 10e but previously owned a Taylor GS Mini Koa and Taylor T5z Pro. Been hoping Taylor would release something like the Dreadnought Junior)

The Martin dreadnaught jr. is all solid wood ,sapele b & sides and really sounds great. It resonants better than the GS mini I have..Its slightly bigger than the Gs. It's nut width is 1_3\4 inch., 24 inch scale length . This GT is going up against the Junior, but the price point isn't even close. If looking at a Taylor, go straight to a 312, better value, better resonance, better tone, for a little more $ or get a Jr. for less.

As ridiculous as I find the $1600 value, if Taylor put a slotted headstock on a GT I'd probably buy a few in different woods. But as it stands now, I was amazed when I went to the Taylor website and saw the GT valued over $1k.

When will guitars be built entirely out of synthetic materials, and when will design, say body layout, discover body shapes and construction details that are wow and REALLY new? Gradual change will never surprise us. Not really. Watch the Taylor in this video. Beautiful. Great playing it. But be honest, this is just the next guitar. And after this model, they will come with something similar, and make you believe that one is a thousand times better than what you see here. Anybody yawning? Right, that is the trouble here. Please have the computer design experts and the luthiers meet, I want to see new materials and revolutionary designs. Not just one of their guitars in carbon epoxy. The next generation guitars will astound us. This GT is okay. Not wow! Watch modern aviation, watch the automotive industry, watch drones, watch how our world is changing. And here comes the next conservative design guitar, though I must admit the bracing is daring. But you got my point? Why not go three steps further? Composite materials, applied math dictating NEW body shapes, where the BEEEEEEEEP are the alternative fret layouts? Please please please do a hundred things in a new way. The world is not waiting for this GT. Do you understand? You need the new generation of engineers and the top 10 of the latest luthiers. Or you will sell to old millionairs only. Is that cool? No, it is boring. Predictable at best. Do you get the point? Why would you produce that guitar in 2023?

Another bass light, homogenised, anemic Taylor offering. I love my GO but it’s one of the only Taylor’s that has any bass. Hated the GS Mini I had; it was the “shouty teenager” of the guitar world. I want so much to love Taylor’s but they are just characterless, IMO. Nothing to hate but nothing to love either, just bland.

I sure wish you could play some type of Melody rather than a bunch of random garbage chords. It would be so nice so it wouldn’t be so painful to watch these reviews. But that aside. Who would spend that much money on this guitar. I mean really. Maybe if I wait long enough I can get one used or on sale. The price they’re asking is insane

I’m not hearing enough bass. I don’t like tons of bass but Taylors have always sounded too treble-ey to me.
