Glad you enjoyed this one Sebastian, it’s a personal favorite of mine. Many more to come both here and via Patreon.com/Swiftlessons. Be well and enjoy your practice!
Awesome post. So easy to follow and your version sounds great. So many odd versions online, it is nice to learn one I can play along with the original song. You have a gift. Cheers
Really nice version especially for solo guitar. I listen to the Midnight Cowboy version and theres a lot going on, at least two guitars and of course an entire string arrangement so I think this version is better than the others I see on youtube that are in the original key.
Don't listen to the critics who can't seem to grasp that not every song has to (or can, in a solo arrangement) reproduce the original exactly. This is a nice version that a relative novice can learn and play for his/her own enjoyment and that of others. What else is music about? Thanks for a great lesson.
Hey Matthew, thanks so much for the thoughtful and encouraging message. So glad you enjoyed this lesson and understand what my intentions were. Be well and enjoy your practice.-Rob
I don't know why this appeared when I went into RUclips but I'm glad it did. I spent hours yesterday learning this song from a different video that used chords I'd never heard of and tied my fingers in knots trying to play. I got it in the end but this is much easier and sounds more like Harry Nilson's version. Love your voice btw
Gotta say you're one of the best out there at this. I've learnt many of your songs over the years including all from inside llewyn Davis soundtrack. You're precise, excellent breakdowns to your inspiring covers, it's about time I thanked you for your help (from a fellow rob)
Beautiful work with voice to match. Superb finger picking with chords to match being played with the feeling it deserves. I love that song in the movie. You have further enhanced the song with your style of playing.😮
thanks so much...for taking me back to 12 yrs old in 70"s when I played this song.I sand it over hundred times, but never knew who the voice was. I just saw him on a video. There really has to be a gene pool we all share cuz" he looks like my son-in-law, Kalidas Tyler Hansen.
Thank you so much!❤ I just started playing this song again after. 55 years later! I think it is very relaxing. I used to play it in drop d on the twelve string. It is especially Meaningful to me because my brother was good friends with dustin hoffman in high school in los angeles. Fifteen years before this movie was made!!!! So I am studying up about all his movies . . . Especially Tootsie! He was so brilliant in all his different parts!!!🤠🤠🤠
Thank you guy, Harry Nilsson is my favorite singer from the 1960's. Two movies had this song as a background music or theme song, "Forrest Gump", "Midnight cowboy" and Growing pains the tv show from the 80's. Thank you, you make it lookk easy.
Nice video and good singing you really brought a Beautiful and haunting song to life! I hope others will be inspired to learn to play this instead of arpeggios and cut and paste beats from DAWs, nothing beats an acoustic guitar! Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
+ɱσσɳ ㄥ丨ㄥㄚ Thanks, glad to have you as a student here. Many more lessons are in the works, and be sure to check out my patreon page where I post tabs, chord sheets and exclusive lessons. Most of it requires a dollar donation, but I'm posting freebies there as well. Enjoy your progress. -Rob
Thank you! I really appreciate all you guys who take the time to post these lessons when I need a quick tutorial. Nice job keeping it simple, quick, and understandable!
I love your voice! So magnetic and charming! Thank you for showing the finger progression! I am adding this song to my repertoire. Nilsson's other song 'Without You' is my favorite too. Thanks again for sharing your talents!
When I was a Little child I often woke up at the sound of this beautiful song playng at the radio my mother listened in the kitchen. It really made me feel so much serenity I still recall nowadays and make me feel so good.
Fine performance at the first and thanks a lot for an excellent tutorial. I don't think the F chord is in the original, but I enjoy your variation because it gives it a really big, full sound. Plus, the change from C 7 / G comes fairly naturally and you still had the D minor in the chorus.
Woah. 😳 That’s so much farther than I expect I’ll ever get. Beautiful. I’ll have to just keep with my cheat way of playing it. Nowhere near as good, but what I can do.
gorgeous sounds! I love this song and I'm so excited to start learning it..you make it sound soo simple and easy. Thanks for the link to the tabs and chords.
The verse does not go to A major. The change is to an F# minor7 and then some... . i am still doing chord analysis but will get back shortly. But you do sound good!!!
So the verse chords are (I will write them in C since you have the kay-po): C, Cmaj7/G ...meaning G in the bass (2X) then C7. C6/G.. (2X) then Dmin7, G7/D 2X I hope that makes sense and not trying to insult you just want to give the correct chords. Again, you sound great!!!
+Buddy Martin Thanks for watching Buddy. I've always liked playing this song, and have wanted to come up with a cover version for a while. It's really the style of picking that catches my ear.
I have watched a lot of RUclips videos and looked at guitar tabs regarding the Nilsson version of the song Everybody's Talkin'. The song is in the Key of E. I have seen videos that is in the open position and with the capo in the 2nd and 4th frets. I haven't seen a video that has a capo on the 7th fret. Try putting a capo on the 7th fret. The chords are A, A maj7, A7, A6, F# minor 7 (I think this is the name of the chord) 2nd finger on 5th string 9th fret and 3rd finger on 9th fret, and E7 (fret just the 5th and 3rd strings). You Travis pick the A (is the 5th string), D, G and B strings and don't play the low and high E strings. In the picking pattern, pinch the 5th and 3rd strings to start the pattern. The transition from A7 to A6 is a bit awkward as the C# in the A6 is on the third string 6th fret which is a fret above the capo. Play the C# with your 3rd finger on the C# 4th string 11th fret and pinch with the open 5th string.
real nice work here... thanks for the info - I'll start with the chords and just strum then maybe get to the finger style once comfortable (looks like I got much work cut out for me)
Great lesson, I used your lesson to do a cover on RUclips. I changed a couple of things. Catch your lessons all the time. Great channel , and thank you, 🔥🔥👍
Everybody's talking at me I don't hear a word they're saying Only the echoes of my mind People stopping, staring I can't see their faces Only the shadows of their eyes I'm going where the sun keeps shining Through the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Banking off of the northeast winds Sailing on a summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone I'm going where the sun keeps shining Through the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Banking off of the northeast winds Sailing on a summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone Everybody's talking at me Can't hear a word they're saying Only the echoes of my mind I won't let you leave my love behind No, I won't let you leave I won't let you leave my love behind
I hope folks understand that Harry Nilsson did not write this song. It was written and originally recorded by the late Fred Neil. The song was later recorded again by Nilsson for the movie, Urban Cowboy.
Beautiful voice you have. One of my favorite songs in world. Thanks for the chords and such.
This is the first tutorial I have seen that actually captures the magic of this song!
Dude, you seriously played the shit out of that song at the beginning nice job dude. Awesome tutorial
You are the best guitar teacher on RUclips. Short, precise straight. I love it. ❤

thanks Rob!! It's most kind of you. I'm from Argentina. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you for this lesson! It’s the first lesson I come across that doesn’t show this complicated fingerstyle, just simple with the thumb, great!
You played it so great every time i hear that i remember jolly boy outing from only fools and horses. Great memories.
So good......thank you for sharing.
This is how you make a tutorial! ! Play the song first !! Well done matey.
I love midnight cowboy. I love this song.

This is gonna be the first (more-than-three-chords) song i learn to play on guitar hahahah. a bit hard but you make it look easy! Thanks a lot!
Terrific tutorial--thanks
When I was a Little child I often woke up at the sound of this beautiful song playng at the radio my mother listened in the kitchen. It really made me feel so much serenity I still recall nowadays and make me feel so good.
I like your interpretation
not quite so busy as the original
A nice laid-back feel
pulling my thumb over to play the d string of the C7 when i dont have a capo is fun...
fantastic tutorial, cheers bro
Great video! Thank you!
You got the best explaining I ever did see brother...go you
Thanks! Finally going to get this under my hands!

I think it's a Dm instead of the F. But I'm not very good to regognize chords ...
Woah. 😳 That’s so much farther than I expect I’ll ever get. Beautiful. I’ll have to just keep with my cheat way of playing it. Nowhere near as good, but what I can do.
Bravo!
Your lesson is excellent. I'm pretty close to nailing the guitar playing but now I need to synch up with my vocal.
Brilliat stuff and great teaching - thanks for the upload mate.

I agree, great lesson - as usual. And you're a very good singer also...
+Teeum5 Thanks so much, this one was super hard to sing due to the complicated picking, but I'm getting better with it. Thanks for checking it out!

Nice playing and nice voice
The fact that he demonstrates how the singing interlocks with the playing makes this tutorial really useful.
Beautiful! Great tutorial!
thanks and you have a good voice
Great playing and great voice!
Great work
Everybody's talking at me
I don't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind
People stopping, staring
I can't see their faces
Only the shadows of their eyes
I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Through the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Banking off of the northeast winds
Sailing on a summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone
I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Through the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Banking off of the northeast winds
Sailing on a summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone
Everybody's talking at me
Can't hear a word they're saying
Only the echoes of my mind
I won't let you leave my love behind
No, I won't let you leave
I won't let you leave my love behind
Love it mate,much appreciated😊👍🎸
Great job, man! Thank you!
Please do a tutorial of Vincent by Don McLean, such a beautiful song
I hope folks understand that Harry Nilsson did not write this song. It was written and originally recorded by the late Fred Neil. The song was later recorded again by Nilsson for the movie, Urban Cowboy.
Merci ! From France !
nice voice
great job
Thanks Roberto!
Wooow damn.
You have fantastic voice!
Bravo!
sounds great; however just one correction; i would use Dm instead of F chord;
Am I the only one that plays C7 to C6 in the verses of this song ?
thank you very much man
it's great!!!!
did you put on a vocal effect at the beginning, sounded amazing along side the playing
Great voice dude.
Great lesson i love your videos
+Petar Karoglan Thanks, glad you're digging my work thus far. Just getting started, so keep checking back!
