    GREAT REVIEW! I'm highly considering getting the PM7000N. I only stream music and with an optical in I can hook it up to my tv as well. Not into home theatre so 2.1 is all that I need. Also considering the NR1200 by Marantz, but the PM7000N looks like soo much more amp section than the NR1200. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thank you!

    Less expensive Alternatives if you are trying to stay under budget or your listening is not as critical: Denon avr650h receiver $400, Denon CEOL RCD-N10 $500 has a build in cd player, Marantz m-cr612 has build in cd player $700

      Great video, thanks for taking the time to do it. I have a serious question below but the rest of this is just a complete by the by comment. In the Denon CEOL, and they do spell it in capitals, I don't think the CEOL bit is an abbreviation. I don't know how the company officially pronounce it, but ceol is the Irish Gaelic word for music, pronounced like the English word coal, but as if it had a y after the hard c - kyoal or something. Like I said - by the by.

    Hello Francisco, I'm a beginner at this better quality component thing, I've recently purchased a Marantz CD6006 player (my wife just wanted a new boombox,this was a better alternative 😊) So now I want to build a system as I get the $$ together. I just learned about this integrated 7000 Marantz model through your video and it looks like the thing that will do it all for my tastes.I was looking at the B&W 607 s bookshelf speakers for this ,what's your thought on that? You would laugh because I'm presenting playing the Marantz CD 6006 through the aux input on a Bose Wave radio from 1995 I'm sure I'll be in for a treat with an integrated amp and speakers.Thanks again for the tutorial on the HEOS app I'm sure I'll be using that with this.
    Take care!

      I am a B&W man. One of the few speaker brands that has NEVER disappointed me. If you can find a shop that carries the B&W 600 line... go listen to the 607s2 and the larger brother 606s2. I know specs say they both go down to the same 52Hz... but the larger 606 has more UMPF in the 50-100Hz. UNLESS you have room for a sub in which case look for a musical sub. BUT... there are lots of good speakers from 300-1000 pair. I do recommend... listen to them... if you can not listen first... make sure you can return them for minimal penalty (like shipping only).

    Thanks for an excellent review and particularly how you use HEOS. My reluctance to buy all-in-one is that the free internet radio service is dependent upon the company continuing to subscribe.
    The other streaming services will all need firmware updates to work in a few years. The amplifier will still be functional, but the resale value will be limited by how the network player has been updated.

    Thanks for the excellent review - some really practical advice there. I'm really close to buying one of these but no reviews of the sound when playing vinyl through the phono input...I'm a vinyl guy with a Rega P1 + Rega preamp, so wondering whether the amp is so good enough through the phono input to not require the preamp - I obviously lose an input option if I do require the preamp because the phono input can't be used for other sources..

    Hi Francisco. Thanks for sharing your experience. I was looking around for HEOS videos and wondering, if you can scroll through song (some your mp3) and jump to particular time in your song, e.g. 2:15. This is not possible with Yamaha Musiccast.

    I am pretty sure the answer to this is a yes, but I hope you can answer it definitively.
    I currently have a Marantz CR610, a few years old. It is wired to a LAN, and my music files are all on a PC which is also wired to the LAN. Presumably I can still use the same arrangement? I use JRiver Music Center as a database and server software, and it can send the music straight through to the Marantz. Or they have an iPad app which can be used as a remote for the Marantz and it kicks off the process.
    I can't imagine that Marantz would have made such a great and easy system unworkable on a newer product?
    Phillip

    • @franciscoortiz6980
      @franciscoortiz6980  3 года назад

      First the Marantz CR610 was a great little amp came out 7+ years ago with features that are still good today. Short answer is YES the LAN port still supports NAS. But I will tell say... you may want to consider placing your music on a large USB memory stick and skip the need for setting up your NAS. I placed a 1Terabit memory stick with all my MP3s in folders that behave like "play lists".

    An addition to my previous comment. I’m not sure why you RUclipsrs just don’t get the set up manual and illustrate step by step the set up in the manual. You go all over the place that still leaves those who are tech shy scratching their heads. It’s not rock science. Illustrate the manual and you are gold.

    • @franciscoortiz6980
      @franciscoortiz6980  2 года назад

      well... this amp does not come with paper manual. You have to go online and download digital copy of manual. Now many people watch these videos because they want to know if a product "can do this or that" so they watch videos like this to see what something is like to live with it. Many manuals do not really show you what living with something is like.

    I’m curious what radio app/service is shown on the amp display at the end of this video? I see 3 lines of text. But what I usually I see on my 7000N with TuneIn radio is 2 lines and play icon in the third line. BTW, I have the same setup with Monitor Audio Silver 100 Black Oak :)

      Amp displays what is given from streaming. Depends more on the radio station. Tunein and iheart radio both show data. Even via bluetooth you may also see data, from youtube for example.

    Great review! I just bought a pair of Mission ZX 2 bookshelf speakers. I have filtered my amp options down to 7000N and Audiolab 6000A. Unfortunately i don't have the luxury to demo and compare them where I live. The Marantz might have a fuller and more richer sound but the 6000A has also earned quite a reputation. Do you have any suggestions? So damn confused

    • @franciscoortiz6980
      @franciscoortiz6980  2 года назад +1

      Well... depends... What speakers do you want to use? The 6000a does NOT have bass / treble knobs... so how your speakers sound... you will have to live with. The Marantz has ability to raise bass if you want or lower treble if your speakers are too bright. The Marantz also has Sub out with control... (I myself have added a small sub) to swim in full range sound. Me personally the sound of same streaming radio station on Marantz sounded better than same radio station on audiolab... not even close (KCRW Eclectic 24 on iHeart radio). But I will admit... the cd player connected to 6000a had a little cleaner sound (less warm) likely due to is very flat response.

    I already own a Marantz NR1200 receiver and like the sound. I am looking to purchase another device for another location and am considering the PM7000N because of the convenience since I will only use it for streaming. I am considering pairing it with the Wharfedale Lintons but my concern is that since both those speakers and the Marantz are quite warm in tonality (which is what I like), would it be “too much of a good thing”? If it would I am considering a Sonus Faber Lumina 2 or 3 or Sonetto 2. I would appreciate your thoughts on either of those pairings. Thank you.

      Hello Sorry for delayed response. Wharf Lintons and Sonus Faber Luminas are great speakers for the price. As far as what your ears like... be honest with yourself... nothing wrong with that. Example I have 52 year old ears, try to take care of my hearing... but they are still starting to lose some upper freq. So TO ME my B&W 606s2 sound detailed and rich.... but 18yr old said my room sounded bright. BUUUUUT... this amp does have treble/bass knobs... so if too much or too little of something... you can trim it a bit.

    Thank you very much for your great review.
    I owned a NAD 320BEE (+ChromeCast Audio & Spotify) and Concept 20 Q acoustic speakers and I would like to update my System.
    I am really hesitating between :
    > Marantz 8006 (More Power, but much more ?)
    > Marantz PM7000N (Better quality streaming from Chromecast audio ? But less power than 8006 but a lot ? sound may be better on Spotify because of internal DAC compare to 8006)
    > For speakers, it would be only bookshelf (no more room at home)…Focal 906, BW 606S2 or wharfedale EVO 4.2
    For the Amplifiers, I really need your (and all HiFiman who want to help me :P) point of
    view, advices and the amplifiers that you would pick up if you need to choose.

      Well it is up to you the direction you want to move in. The NAD 320Bee and the Marantz 8006 are both very good amplifiers but they are Analog only, but you will still need a streamer or DAC. If you want a ONE box solution amplifier+streamer that can also chrome cast (via hdmi dongle) then you may want to consider a home theater receiver. If you watch all of my video... I mention alternatives.

      Hello honestly I was kind of disappointed with a monitor silver 100s. While they had lots of bass the mid-range and upper frequency tapers off. In my opinion there is are a lot of better speakers for $900 pair. I have been very happy with the quad s2, B&W 606s2 and tekton prime bookshelfs.

      The powernode 2i is an interesting product that some of the circuitry is borrowed from the NAD streamer amp. I personally needed 3 digital inputs, powernode only has 1. I know the powernode is a digital amp box only weighing 8Lb so i question the robustness. But hey... give it a try... return it if it does not please you.

      The Marantz was a good amp too, but sound wise it was a bit too much top.

      I'm pretty sure it supports it directly from Spotify app, with the functionality called 'Spotify Connect'. It is documented in the PM7000N manual.

    • @franciscoortiz6980
      @franciscoortiz6980  3 года назад

      Short answer... Now I am using B&W 606s2. LONG ANSWER: So I filmed this video after about 6mos of living with marantz pm7000n. I had the Monitor silver 100s for about 3mos. Honestly the monitor 100s roll off the upper mids and high frequencies and are missing a little bit of detail up there, could NOT return them because I bought them from ebay. Then in early October 2020... B&W came out with NEW 606 series 2. I actually went to the store hoping to buy the Series 1 for nice discount (about $200/pr savings). I was able to hear both, and fell in love with the Series 2; they have just a little more clarity in the upper mids and the bass tightened...very nice.

      Hello Pardon delay, I have not heard the Naim 5si. I did hear the Rega Elex when I went to audition some Golden ear Aeon 3 speakers. I took my B&W606 with me to compare. Now I was not really able to make a comparison since Marantz is one piece and Rega + Bluesound node is two pieces. BUT the clarity is better with the Marantz and midrange was more detailed. I honestly believe it was also that they were using RCA cables since Rega elex has no digital inputs. Since you already own a Bluesound Node 2i... I would recommend a product that has both analog and Digital inputs and you can try both see what you like more. Perhaps Marantz pm6006 (around $500), Yamaha A-S801, Arcam Sa10 or what I seriously considered Vincent Audio SV500 (1000 tube solid state hybrid with digital inputs)
