Hi, I am Filipino, but adopted and grew up in Wisconsin. Here, I got and get confused for being Mexican/Pakistani/Indian. Some people come up to me talking in Spanish and I don't speak it well. One time some lady randomly came up to me speaking either Urdu or Hindi. I was amused. Also, I don't speak a lot of Tagalog - many people here either didn't teach their kids or didn't want to. And yes, I work in a hospital. There are a bunch of Filipinos in our hospital. The infamous, where are you from? is the best mantra - when I say Philippines, people get all happy and I think it's because they think they are getting fed. lol
