    Nobody really talks about the logic behind Ketsui, or survival. It’s basically all high level scoring play or a 1cc with no commentary. Much needed, and will give me a push to pick it up more seriously soon!

    This is a very detailed guide! Thanks for sharing Mark. It was entertaining as well. I think part of the fun of STG’s is working out your own route, but when you get stuck, seeing a different approach via replays, or guides like this is super useful.

    Cave's shot patterns are unparalleled. The patterns are simply beautiful and fun to route and dodge.

    My first bullet hell was the Ketsui Death Label on DSi. I was blown away... Even if that game is only boss rush, it is perfect and always will take a special place in my heart. :)

    I’m not that great at arcade as I mostly play deathtiny and super easy but the biggest tip I can give is that in ketsui all bullets are aimed directly at you so flying around wildly will just make a mess . If you stay in one place at the side of the screen all the enemies will fire a stream of bullets towards you and you can tap dodge across the screen and avoid a lot of it just dodging a few bullets on the way. You also need to realise that your hit box is quite small and you can dodge through some pretty dense patterns if you minimise your movement as much as you can and the bullets will pass over the majority of your ship. The hit box is near the rear behind the cockpit.

    18:42 Good survival advice. I started shmups with Touhou and I'm only decent so I mostly play survival. Watching superplays or people like Jaimers or Icon is great but I can't replicate some of the things they can do. Like this, I'm not as cool as Moglar so I'm not going for that.

    This is really cool to watch because I got my blind 1cc of the game about a month ago, and while most of our strategies are the same there are some interesting differences. 39:12 is a good example as I try and manage that whole section in a single stream by following the wall from the top left to the bottom right, but this has its own risks and isn't perfect either. Another is on the 3rd stage mid-boss, where I like to stall a little to kill the last ship so I don't have to worry about his attacks. Definitely going to steal some elevator and boss strats though, so thanks for making this.

      Nah I don’t need nobody or want anybody to pay my bills. I work full-time and still practice my shoot ‘em ups. You just have to have a more precise way to practice. You actually don’t need a whole bunch of time you just need to know how to practice. I have one credit cleared Quite a few games last year and I’m Far from a super player

    As someone who is pretty new to the shmup genre and especially Cave games what is it about Ketsui that makes it so special that people generally consider it to be one of if not Caves best shooter?

    • @onetime1337
      @onetime1337 2 месяца назад

      every pattern is doable without bombs or good luck,so the game feels very fair,also has very good visual clarity compared to some purpleshitgarbageeverythingispurplegoodluck. it is also extremely modular when it comes to the scoring system,you can very easily drop or put in a single scoring strat for a section which lasts for one enemy kill or few seconds unlike in other CAVE games with long intricate chaining systems. the empty locking glitch also allows the ceiling of the game to be incredibly high.
      this allows it to be a great choice for both advanced players or world record players. also for new players going for just 1ccs,the games difficulty is not erratic,and is pretty smooth upward curve.

    By the way on the second boss on the ball pattern you can time it by the descent of the blue balls and just full send it to the other side like magic, don't ask me how things got to the point where i tried that, should have checked this video first lol. Doable on both emulator and m2 port.
    Will practice the way shown here since it's less caveman like.
