@Sword Dancer 2 is better. More varied,better dynamics. and the game for sure is better. 1 is a great foundation. I think even 3 is overall better then 1. By the time 3 released 1 was kinda outdated.

But also had this "newgrounds" kinda "put together" kinda look. That standard flashgames/effects looks. Some levels looked good and some almost mastersystem level detail. I wasn't much impressed. Especially not in like 2010 or something. didn't like the remixed music also. Streets of rage 1 has killer music,2 has better music. 3 was also good but also a bit more boring experimental. Many even prefer 3 over 1. The bombergames one is there because the source material was already good. 4 absolutely crushes the "inofficial" streets of rage remake. 4 is kinda what you want from a modern beat em up. When people are able to own it on mania. You just have a good modern game. 1,2,3 where some of the most impressive games of their time. 2 is more fondly rememberd then 2. 1 looks more like shinobi the 1st one. S.o.r 2 looked like a neogeo game at that time. more towards shinobi 3. A limit pusher. The remake is a limit pusher for what system???. Exactely...none. All old 3 streets of rage games aged good for those who grew up on them and 4 easely. Just easely trumps the remake. No doubt about it. The remake is not rememberd and forgotten. More so a novelty at best. Retro love from retro lovers. But build upon what was already there.

But like sonic mania doesn't have the overal pilish of fanservice. To me 4 has fanservice, great styl, great graphics and something new. It's not easy to make a streets of rage game that excels to the legendary streets of rage 2. The thing that was really impressive with the old streets of rages esspecially part 2 was tghat the soundtrack sounded like straight out of a club. It had style and charisma. Those old soundtracks are way more impressive considering the old tech behind it. The new one didn't dissapoint the salightest in the music departhment. I'm not even trying 4 on mania or mania +. but hard gives me a good challenge. I really really appreciate how they handled part 4.
I love how in the 3DS Version they make a reference to Blaze's underwear in the credits, whenever she jumps, Skate jumps with her to hide the shot. I didn't understand it in the past until finding out it was a funny little censor. The credits in the 3DS version is a really funny watch, you can tell the people who worked on it really loved the series
I love the 3DS version! M2 developed SEGA's 3D Classics, and you can find several translated interviews SEGA did with them archived online. They are all incredibly fascinating. M2 really did everything possible to make them look, sound, and play exactly as people remembered. For the Genesis titles they even put sound options to replicate the differences between the model 1 and model 2 Genesis/Mega Drive!

We noticed it in the PAL version and paused it to make sure. I was 12. I never understand US censorship... all they care about is nudity but ultra violence is absolutely fine. UK games censored any unnecessary gore in many titles

@@2012JvN Interesting, a few friends of mine one whos lived there his whole life and another who moved there years ago both told me GTA is banned there maybe its a certain game in the franchise? This was actually the case with Germany where MK4 was banned there among other MKs. I remember reading that MK9 was banned In Japan when it came out but I know laws can change too. Like Australia for years mk in general was banned namely mk9 and if you got caught importing it was 100,000 fine but til they got their own ESRB system shortly after 2011. But yeah with Japan surprised that MK 11 is but not MK X the fatalities in that game are arguably as bad if not worse than MK 11s.
There is a rare case of a game being censored for America but not here in Aus. For some reason the sex in Indigo prophecy was censored or removed completely in America but was left unchanged for Aus.
My friend and I would play this game over and over and over again for about 3-4yrs multiple times a day and never seemed to get bored, the level designs were all different, the bosses were unique, it was just a very fun game nothing more to say but great memories

You all have access to the same game versions. It just depends what region megadrive you are playing on. The game changes depending what megadrive you are playing it on. I know this is because I have a asian megadrive. But I have a PAL version cartridge of this game. When I play it. The title screen says Bare Knuckle 2. The text at the beginning of the intro telling the story is japanese. But when I play it on my friends PAL megadrive, The title completely changes to Streets Of Rage 2 and yes even the text at the beginning telling the story changes to English. Sounds impossible but I am not making it up. This is the honest truth. I modded my own asian megadrive to have a switch and now I can change to either languages at anytime. Even when the game is running. So the text changes from Japanese to english as it scrolls up and vice versa.

My PAL version also has the uncensored Blaze flying kick (which actually is worse since the hitbox is higher up) Maybe they fixed it in newer re-releases

the 3DS versions are definitely the best because of the 3D and you can choose the region if im not mistaken. It's too bad they never did SOR3 though.
I'm glad there are romhacks that restore the Japanese uncensored cuts and content to the american game.

Only MK11 is banned in Japan. No GTA title is banned in Japan as far as I know.
