Dixie I really appreciate your kind spirit about grief. I’ve been dealing or sometimes not dealing with the loss of my oldest daughter who tragically took her life last year. Your upbeat and sweet disposition reminds me of her in the good times. Which makes me smile. One day after I retire I think either the full or section of the PCT is in my future. Thank you for what you do.

“Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go” ~ Jamie Anderson

I had to go back and watch the intro a second time. Very cool. After watching a lot of these thru-hiking videos, I gotta say, yours are still the best. You're a combination of excellent nature videographer, moral philosopher, and down-to-earth everywoman. Still setting the standard!

Hey Dixie, I work as a camp counselor during the summer and we frequently take our kids on hikes and backpacking trips, and yesterday we hiked a small section of the AT! We were just past Bear mountain in Rockland county NY, and It felt really amazing to walk in the footsteps of all the amazing people who have taken on the AT. Our campers were amazed by how long the trail was and we even met some through hikers (or is it thru hikers idk) and share cookies with them. Their names were Biscuits and Gravy, and they were great people who were fantastic with the kids and told some great stories! it’s hikers like them and you and your vids who inspire me to maybe take on a challenge like the AT someday, thanks for being awesome!

Dixie; no body has ever inspired more people than you that hiking is cool. Just so you know this. I've watched hiking videos since 2006 on YT, but your voice and attitude has been my joy of how hiking is for you. Good or bad times on trail. You seem to do the best at bringing joy to every situation. Thank you for that= Truly it's a blessing.

Thanks for another wonderful video, Dixie! It was so cute how happy Fancy was to see you. I shared your video with Kris Fowler’s mom, (Sally). It helps her to know that people haven’t given up searching for Kris. I hadn’t heard that quote about grief, and I posted that on The Kris Fowler website awhile back. It IS the perfect description of grief.

I had not really thought too much about the trees that were cut and moved along the Foothills Trail which was our first backpacking trip a few weeks ago. But after watching a video of a gentleman who had hiked the same trail just a few months earlier I was soooooo thankful for those who maintain the trail! Because the trail was hard enough without all those road blocks! I can not imagine trying to get my Mom and kids through the mess that was there before the clean up.

That cliche about Washington being rainy all the time only applies to the western part of the state... east of the cascades is much drier. I live in Spokane. We've had a beautiful summer this year. I must say Dixie, you are great with your videos, but your mom has truly inspired me to get out and get back into hiking. I might even section hike on the PCT one day, and the Washington part is lovely, even with the wet!

"Grief is love with nowplace to go" Profound Dixie! Thanks for impacting my life. I know from my own experience that we are created in God's image and we are designed to be relational. For me, My relationship with Christ is most important and he was the master of relationships. My thoughts were that that lost love we call grief, He asks us to give it to Him!
Once again, Thanks for impacting my life. Doing a kayak camping adventure this weekend but back on trail when it cools off down in SC.
