She's my childhood
I love her so much
@@cranburrey she's an icon because she has always been authentic as hell, I love mother monster.
Yep same here, people are so terrible sometimes 😂
These interviewers wanted her to feel uncomfortable with questions talking about sex, but were surprised how open she was about it and THEY got uncomfortable with it. Get ‘em, Queen.
I related a lot to that hahaha that's literally me talking to a lot of people and receiving prejudice and social exclusion on return. Maybe that explains why I ended up being friends with so many members of LGBT+ community
They probably wanted her to feel uncomfortable to maybe cause some drama and attract attention to their shows 💀
Backfired😂
It's like watching a comedian get heckled and handling it so well especially when people make you just go 🙃?
The fact that you guys still support her after she went to a slave auction that also had people like doing black face is disgusting
I remember in middle school when she first became big, everyone was incredibly sexist, transphobic, and just plain inappropriate to her all the time. She was having none of it ever and she's an absolute legend for it. Unapologetic all the way
How can you be transphobic to a cis woman is?
I’m in middle school and they still are help 😭😭😭😭
huh shes not trans though
@@123Ha9LoIN people thought she was because she often wore clothing associated with drag queens (big lashes, colorful hair and makeup, extravagant dresses, nasal voice)
@@123Ha9LoIN I was in high school. Most of my classmates loved her, but our dads would go on and on about her secret penis and how she's a man and that's disgusting. There was a cultural backlash of people trying to make her seem trans and therefore justify their irrational disgust for her.
That's why her saying "so what if I am?" was so huge.
just imagine SERIOUSLY asking a male artist "are you secretly a woman?" it's crazy women tolerated this kind of bullshit for decades, men can be lucky we dont go on the street burning cars
Depends on the artist though. Bands like one direction of nsync also got stupid questions while a female artist like Joan baz or Joni Mitchell wouldn’t. What’s the difference? One makes sappy music that isn’t meant to be consumed too seriously and the others make serious music. When a woman makes serious music like say a Nicoh or a Patti Smith interviews will have a different dynamic and like of questioning.
Michael Jackson was asked this question many times. He was "accused" of homosexuality (mind you, in a time where being gay was halfway a crime), then when he said "Well I'm not gay but so what if I was?" and donated a ton of money to support for AIDS patients he was accused of bestiality and secretly being a woman. And we all know what he was finally accused of in the end. The "male equivalent" isn't a hypothetical
@@hansmemling2311 Yeah, but what defines who makes "serious music" vs. "sappy music"? Who decides that? These groups you mentioned, 1D, Nsync, and other similar groups aren't taken seriously because their fanbases are generally majority teenage girls. Joan Baz and Joni Mitchel don't. So again it just comes down to misogyny - even when male artists aren't being taken seriously, it is because of misogyny and patriarchy, because men, and as an extension, society, don't deem that artist's work "good enough", "important enough", - so the statement still stands - men are lucky women don't go on the street burning cars.
@@shubbadubba the distinction between sappy and serious music is very easy to make. There are so many women making amazing serious music and everyone takes them serious. To name some names I didn't yet: Haim, Warpaint and Austra. Read the comments under their videos and read their interviews and the types of questions they get. You'll see it's worlds apart from any pop music. You sound salty that you don't have more depth in your taste than what is heard on the radio and instead of just accepting that your taste is being laughed at by certain groups you overthink and decide it's the Patriarchy. It isn't. Cher is taken pretty seriously, Celine Dion as well. Both make sappy music but it's serious enough to not be ridiculed too much. It just depends on how close they are to sappy or to serious on a sappy to serious spectrum. It has nothing to do with gender.
@@hansmemling2311 It has everything to do with gender. None of those artists you mentioned have predominant teenage girl fanbases. It's a known thing that pretty much every interest teenage girls enjoy end up being ridiculed or not being seen as "serious". Even artists like Taylor Swift aren't seen as "serious enough" despite arguably being so (and I say that as someone who isn't even a Swifty). It is patriarchy, and unfortunately you not recognizing that doesn't make it not so, or else a lot of things in this world would be much less fucked up.

Why the "actually"? Why not just say "she's so funny"? When you say "actually" while giving a compliment it makes it backhanded, and it implies that you're surprised to find her funny.
The way the reporters would ask her questions they would never ask men.
Edit: These comments just proved my point. People sexualize Gaga. Gaga does not sexualize herself or add sexual connotation to her art. It's society putting these things on her unnecessarily. Gaga is an icon and nothing can stop her.

She supported LGBTQ+ causes from her start in 2008, and she as a bisexual woman is LGBTQ+ herself.
She spoke at the human rights campaign events, spoke out about don't ask don't tell and brought discharged gay soldiers to award shows with her. She always is fighting for us.

I find it so interesting how she evolved from employing sunglasses as an intimation tactic, to using an unnervingly casual attitude while wearing extreme couture, to now where she can wear a white suit and high-bun and everyone's necks break when she enters the room. I'm as proud as I possibly can be of her in the position I've watched her grow from.
She slays with such confidence as well “no I won’t elaborate I just told you”
I feel like people forget that at the time being so unapologetically pro-LGBT was very much not a popular thing and was even a risk, and as an LGBTQ person who was figuring myself out in high school at the same time that she was getting big, it really meant a lot to have someone like her.

@@Iron_StigmataMany LGBT+ celebs never fight for our rights tho... Gaga fought very openly in a million ways for hers and others rights since the 2000's. Nearly all celebs seems like LGBT rights activist now but back then it was rarer and often more demure. 💕
Its like one of the few people in the world who we, as a community, dont ever have to worry about
Lady Gaga let people think she was trans for attention. Many many times and even claimed she was born a man. And then she came out as NOT TRANS. And then people thought she might be lesbian or at least bisexual and she let that happen for MORE attention. Then came out as straight. What lady Gaga is, is a fuckin Genius marketing strategizer. Whether she cares about the community or not she only used it in the beginning to launch her career. She wanted nothing more than to be famous and rich growing up and she def knew she would be even when people doubted her because she knew she would figure out who to manipulate and what community to appropriate for attention.
@@Foxxx2017 Lies and trials of intents.
When did she "came out as straight"? She said on RDR she wasn't gay ( which is logical since she's also into dudes and was always singing about it ) but that doesn't makes her straight. And she didn't "let people think she was lesbian or bi" she made her second hit, Poker face, about being bi and repeated it on WWHL 4 years later and never changed her word on that.
Also for once a famous woman wasn't acting defensive or bothered by trans rumors which was refreshing af but of course some folks will say she did it for attention as you throw negative assumptions in doubt when you dislike someone... You make it sounds like if the claim she was born a man wasn't obvious trolling to people hating on the idea but rather serious statement like c'mon lol... There's a reason if folks laught it off seing she was clearly joking with the "huge donkey Dick" comment said in an over-serious way. 😂
Also for a marketing genius she sure had some flop eras and moments messing up her image so if you want to talk about marketing queens in music let's discuss Adele, Beyoncé, Celine Dion, Taylor Swift etc cause those are the ones following a PR plan to gain and preserve success. Not blaming them since it's smart, just saying Gaga's not really fitting the marketing genius always pulling the strings description you made.
