Moon Knight Episode 3 takes us to Egypt, where Marc Spector / Steven is hunting for Ammit’s tomb with Layla. As we dive into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Egyptian lore, we see how it connects to Kang, Black Panther, the X-Men, and-of all people-Baron Zemo. The show also references locations from the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, nodding to future MCU team ups between these heroes. We give a full breakdown of the episode, explain the Ennead, and what happened to Ammit and Khonshu all those thousands of years ago.

Edited by Harriet Lengel-Enright and Randolf Nombrado
The episode begins with Layla getting her new fake passport, which helps us get to know the character, and deepens the mystery surrounding Marc’s DID.
We’ve covered this in past videos, but in the comics steam grant is an alternate personality of Marc Spector, who suffers from dissociative identity disorder, DUD for short or more commonly called multiple personality disorder.
She says "new apartment 20 minutes from old place". In this video last week, we guessed that Marc created the Stephen identity because-subconsciously-he needed someone who was an expert in Egyptology. And we pointed out that he transferred his love of Layla to Stephen-they even have the same favorite poem.
Now we see that Steven has also chosen an apartment close to where Marc lived. People who suffer with DID have the ability to transfer skills or even feelings to their identities without them being aware of each other. I think that’s what we’re seeing here.
Marc lived with Layla in London, it's the place that reminds him the most of her. So the apet of himself that still loves her-Steven-turns out to be English.
The candy that she’s eating looks a lot like Turkish delight…something tells me she would get on well with Zemo.
A neat detail that I noticed in this office: the photo lights were teased in the credits, here. I think it’s significant that Layla is beginning the episode by forging a new identity for herself, just as Marc’s DID created new personalities for him.
Turns out Layla likes to reacquire artifacts, like a modern day Indiana Jones, she says "already stolen". Which calls to mind Killmonger’s brilliant opening form black panther.
The Passport woman mentions Layla’s dad. Now she seems to be based on another character, Marlene, from the comics-who is Marc Spector’s girlfriend. Her father was an archaeologist who was executed by a mercenary leader named Raul Bushman-and one of the mercenaries working for him was Marc Spector. Last episode teased that Marc was responsible for an archaeologists' death. And I’ll bet you this is the secret harrow talks about later in the episode [you don't want to tell her].
The woman references her father saying [think of his little scarab]. Which is interesting. I’m wondering if there’s a secret origin here, where Layla’s dad actually discovered the scarab, and Konshu ordered Marc to kill her father, to obtain the scarab for him. Just a thought.
This is a fake passport., so it’s likely that the date is fake too. Things were probably very confusing during the blip, so it's easier to say a fake was issued during that time.
The first shot after the Marvel logo is of real sand, unlike the fake out shit at the start of episode 2. Earlier I mentioned that layla is like Indiana Jones-and there are actually a lot of similarities to this story and raiders of the lost ark.
We have the adventurer who leaves 2 lives, whose romantic interest is a woman from his past, and the adventurer knew her father. This man had an artifact that led to a secret burial place, and the villains get ahold of the artifact and get to the area first. Except in raiders, the heroes get to the real dig site before the villains. [clip, they’re digging in the wrong place]
Except, in raiders the villains were Nazis, and here they seem like exteremely nice people.
Cut to Marc chasing down some of Ammit’s followers on a rooftop chase. Instead Of hitting this kid, he slaps him [clip]. This shows us that Marc has a soft spot for the kid, and later it’ll store even more when he kills himself. Again, Indian Jones.
Marc hesitates when he sees Steven's reflection in the blade [clip]. Marc’s big problem in this episode is that he keeps fighting near reflective services.

343RD COMMENT I'M EARLY ASFLIP AGAIN 👊❤️. MOON KNIGHT IS BEST MCU SHOW OUTSIDE OF DAREDEVIL 👊. Jake Lockley is the taxi driver that's DOPE. Konshu's a Jaded elder god but not a villain especially since he cares about human life and Justice just on a different realm of perspective then we do. I wonder if Steven would be a repressed personality that Marc has made to cope with losing Layla that's why Steven has so many similarities with her interest and knowledge. I really enjoyed this 3rd episode of Moon Knight it was great seeing the dynamic between Steve and Marc as personalities but they both can agree to disagree while Steve is still horrified by Marc's violent actions in seeing that Justice is done. Steve clearly sees through the Amitt Egyptian cult BS 💯 😂. The first, second and third episodes of Moon Knight were great as I expected and I can't wait until DR STRANGE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS AND THOR LOVE AND THUNDER IS GOING TO BE EPIC ⛈️⚡ 😎. I've always wanted to see a horror mental illness martial arts movie or show about how Konshu turns Marc Spector into BADASS MOON KNIGHT I knew this would be DOPE 😎👊. It's cool to see Oscar Isaac getting a second chance to shine in a Disney film because he was wasted in The Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars but he pulls off the British accent so well I can't distinguish it from his real voice and he really KILLED IT WITH THAT MULTIPLE PERSONALITY THING. Seeing Dr Strange teaching Wanda to control her Scarlet Witch magical abilities and facing cosmic Multiversal level threats is awesome 😎. This has nothing to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

It annoys the hell out of me they changed the archetypes from the comics... Marc Spector was the amoral mercenary who had no problems with killing, Steven Grant was a suave billionaire that funded their escapades, Jake Lochley is a seedy low level criminal type character, that is plugged into the criminal underworld and used to gather intel, Mr. Knight is used by Steven (like in the show) BUT, the big difference, is the point of Mr. Knight, is to allow Steven to remain in some degree of control, AND also allow him to communicate with his personalities and utilize all of their skills/knowledge as one persona.

They're creating an internally consistent world, and they're doing it well. I'm here for it. Don't hold on so tight; you'll have more fun. These characters are mythic and historically, mythic characters are portrayed radically differently from year to year.

After watching this episode made me realize that it wasn't Marc who killed those guys in Germany because he was only in control until he jumped off the window and knocked himself out which leaves Steven in control. All of those fighting sequences where it got skipped were actually Jake and I believe we'll get to see those when he reveals himself in the future episodes (Or not).
You can see that in episode 1, Steven only loses control when he was hopelessly about to get himself killed until someone took over at the last minute. When he wakes up again, they were brutally murdered and Steven was left with blood all over his hands in a similar way like Marc woke up to in episode 3.
I initially thought that it was Marc who killed them, but since even he was disgusted by the way those guys were killed made me realize that it wasn't him who killed those guys in Germany. I just remembered that the reason why Steven was even in control in the first place in Germany was because Marc was unconscious at the time, and if he was awake, he would've tried his best to knock his enemies out (rooftop knife fight) or even if it was in a gunfight, he'll still try to disarm them and get into close range so he could beat them up with his fists without killing them. Jake on the other hand, shows no mercy and just ruthlessly murders them without holding back.
It also doesn't makes sense why Marc would just hand over to Steven as soon as those guys were killed while still being chased by them and holding the scarab in the middle of the most important mission. Plus, I don't think Steven was even trying to take control of the body to begin with
If Marc was awake, we would've heard him asking Steven to hand the body over to him but he didn't and we know that even Marc himself couldn't just take control of the body whenever he wants to and so does Steven, but Jake absolutely can and he only takes over to save them when they're completely about to get killed. Once the enemies are dead, he passes them back, and forth but he never cares to stay in control.

"Nope, I was just hanging out in the desert, just ignore the fact that I'm carrying Ammit's cane thing that is clearly pulsating with magic"

The flashing eyes could be a subtle reference to Stargate, where the Goa'uld impersonated the Egyptian (and other) gods, and switching between Host and Goa'uld was symbolized by their eyes flashing gold.
Mr Night doesn't just get stabbed by 5 spears, the imagery is explicitly very similar to the Five of Wands Tarot Card. The meaning of the Five of Wands is "Challenges, Obstacles, Fights, Disagreements, Resistance, and Conflict"
Ammit's name historically may have ties back to the Hebrew word Em-ett, meaning truth, which ties back to Mark's origins as a jew.
Related to that, the name Layla may be derived from the hebrew word Lie-lah, meaning night, which may be relevant given Konshu's threats to take her as his next host and the fact that he's tied so closely to Night.
In the ending credits it's interesting that they show several OTHER Egyptian deities apparently locked in stone, front and center is a Jackal headed god, possibly Anubis.

I think in this series Jake might actually be the original. When you think about it, why would Mark make Steven to be an expert on Egypt just to refuse to let him do anything? I think Jake is the original, but all he really knows how to do well is fight so he created Mark as a more capable and personable persona and Steven as the intelligent expert. But when both falter it's up to Jake to come out and clean up their messes which neither are conscious for. For example in this episode we saw both Mark and Steven argue during the street fight only for both to blackout and blame each other for the bodies. And again during the fight with the guards I think Jake might have been in control because Mark was taking too long to jump into the fight, Mark doesn't take over again until Leila was being attacked and he takes off the mask for a moment, up until then he wasn't talking. Thinking back to the first episode when Steven was being attacked in the street and again in the cupcake van I think it might have been Jake taking over even though we were lead to believe it was Mark. I hope when they finally do reveal Jake they tell us which past moments were him.

Since Jake works by gathering intel in the streets, giving him the suit as a detective is perfect. It may have same character design like Noir Spider-man in the Spiderverse but white. @@jojo-nr5ir no it meant Marc is. You both are wrong. You both missed the part where it was Marc who got shot in the back of the head. Because he was the original. And why Kanshu brought him back and where the alters began using Marc’s body. Without Steven / jake Marc is back to being dead. Marc is the original

The scene where the avatars' eyes glowed and their repected gods spoke through them reminded me of the Goa'uld from Stargate SG- 1. Which also dabbled in ancient mythology such as Egyptian.

More like the Tok'ra who shared the body with their host and were more symbiotic in nature. The Goa'uld completely dominated their hosts and literally enslaved their minds.

@@MrLee-cy1pw That would be a better comparison, but the reason I referenced the Goa'uld was because Osiris, Isis, and Hathor were in fact Goa'ulds in the series.

The presenter’s use of the “Family Matters” intro is also a sly nod to the influence of Robert Kirk-man in geek culture. The use of the black on black cubs cap was influenced by the Nas scene in the first act of Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed”
    Fun video!
