Your morning scene was gorgeous, and you finished with a spectacular evening scene. I very much enjoyed watching the coordinated efforts to get that across. Except for this final glitch it seems fairly well managed.
Thank you. I think that the whole business has been well managed, particularly when you consider that the challenges presented could not have been anticipated. Thanks for your support and encouragement
Removing this temporary bridge twice before winter as planned is an expensive and labour rich task. Let's hope a permanent solution for marine and vehicular traffic is in place by the end of next year. Cheers 🇨🇦
James - I hear you. The cascade of challenges started by 'the incident' of March 30th seems endless. I fear that no easy answers are going to be forthcoming and that there will be pain and inconvenience for many for some time to come.. It gives me no joy to follow and document the saga
Should of sucked it up and go right away to building a replacement. Not too long ago we only had the Causeway and no third crossing. There will be no bridge when the replacement will be built. Waste of time and money
For all of the armchair quarterbacks out there, the Acrow bridge is an off the shelf bridge and not the same length as the causeway opening. New bearing seats and endwalls had to be designed and built. The west end wall is completed after the launch because the bridge is lowered into place on an angle. The installers ran out of daylight for completion as the night before they had worked until 11:30pm finishing the counterweights and setting up the crane. Be patient
Thank you for that very important input. I have been explaining to those who listen about the need to accommodate the fixed length of the temporary bridge. I admire and respect the work greatly. Ideal weather conditions have been very helpful to the crew. I'm always open to sharing insights - but they're rarely provided until after the event. Failing to explain what is intended sets the conditions for conspiracy theories and misinformation, which I have to correct almost daily.

I’m not in a position to say when the bridge will be open to traffic. The signs are promising that an earlier statement suggesting September 30th is quite likely to prove correct. Yes, really surprising sometimes how blue the water appears. We do enjoy something special here.

@@gillesbesner6102 thanks - I had drawn attention to it immediately after it went live. It would benefit greatly from the production company generating real captions. The 'Lost Al Fastial Bridge' is not good enough when describing an historic edifice.
Michael - simply because time was of the essence. There is considerable pressure to restore a passage for vehicular traffic and pedestrians. Work to construct a permanent replacement for the old bridge will take some time and interrupt all traffic, by land and water, at some stage
I'm at a loss. Why would they move the bridge in when the west end forms aren't even done yet? Why weren't the four east end frames that were sticking out removed before the bridge was moved? Very shoddy performance I'd say.
I think that, unless you're an engineer, or involved in the work, criticizing it is misguided without all the facts. I do appreciate you viewing the update though.
