The subject of immortality couldn't be explained in a shorter time any better. You have condensed the truth so perfectly. Thank you so much for what you are doing as a team.
I agree with this after listening to the whole bible over 50 times through a few years, and many other details. There is so much believed by faith yet ignorance.
When I was an atheists and was asking for proof of God, I always got "you just got to have faith". I didn't think faith is about believing something without evidence, then I finally found some people who agreed showed me where the Bible tells us "prove all things" and gave me evidence for God. One problem with Christians is that they believe a lot of things that the Bible doesn't even say, because they were told those things and believed "by faith" instead of searching the scriptures to see if those things were true. Most haven't even read the Bible.
This sounds like Jehovah Witnesses. They maintain that nonbelievers just cease to exist. So my question is what do you say about nonbelievers? Eternal torment in Hell or just nonexistance?
Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Based on That Statement, THEN THIS QUESTION IS FOREVER ANSWERED. "Do Angel's Die?" And If [Since] The Answer Is NO, Then Satan and The Fallen Angels, CANNOT be burned to extinction in the Lake of fire, which is the second removal from the Presence of God. Every Human being will be resurrected, Some to ETERNAL LIFE and Some to ETERNAL DAMNATION.
Let me try to answer your question. Qn. What do you say about nonbelievers, Eternal torment in hell or just non-existence? In God's perfect plan, He desires ALL men to be saved. He wants ALL(total sum) to come to repentance. (2Pt 3:9) But how can one repent when one doesn't even know what one should repent of? Repentance is a gift from God, which can lead one to salvation. (2 Timothy 2:25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth) The whole world has been deceived by the evil one (Rev 12:9) so that they believe not the gospel of repentance. (2 Corinth 4:4) BUT that is not all. Is man then without hope? NO. In His divine plan for humanity, He has appointed time for Salvation IN A ORDER. Your question is from a perspective that "Today is the only day of salvation", which is opposite of what the Bible teaches. So nonbelievers today are not going to remain nonbelievers tomorrow. Remember, God desires all (total sum) to be saved, but everyone in HIS OWN ORDER. 1 Corinthians 15:22-23 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. BUT EACH ONE IN HIS OWN ORDER: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.) Only those who are Christ's at His coming.. and we know who are those who are Christ's, they are those being led by His Spirit. Those people will be saved, FROM WHAT? From the power of death, the second death. Only those who are Christ's will be resurrected at Christ's return. (1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.) These are the category you called believers. Where does that leave the nonbelievers? Remember they are not resurrected. Is that why people think they are burning in hell? Well, the Bible tells us a different thing. Revelation 20:5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. You see? The rest of the dead did not live again, meaning the rest of the dead who were not Christ's remained in their grave until the millennium was over. This resurrection of the believers was called, FIRST RESURRECTION. After the thousand years, those who didn't have opportunity to know the truth, will be resurrected and that will be their proper time for salvation. God will lift the Vail for them to see the truth for their first time. Isaiah 25:7 (And He will destroy on this mountain The surface of the covering cast over all people, And the veil that is spread over all nations.) This will be their due time for salvation. It is only after being given opportunity, after knowing the truth, that God will judge any man basing on his choice. The only peaceful way to live is God's way of love, which is defined by His law. Any way of life outside that will ultimately bring suffering to yourself and people around you. And God can't watch that. So for those who will choose other way of life which brings sufferings, God will mercifully destroy them in the lake of fire which is the second death. They will not burn forever. They will become ashes (Malachi 4:3 You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this, ” Says the Lord of hosts.) It is eternal punishMENT, not eternal punishING. They will never exist again, that makes it eternal punishMENT. Not punishING. I hope with patience you can understand that God is so patient with us all and has laid a perfect plan to save everyone IF we choose to obey Him.
What did Paul mean by when he said “Absent from the body, present with the Lord”? What about the story of the rich man and Lazarus? What did Jesus mean when He said to the thief on the cross “Today, you shall be with Me in Paradise”? Was Jesus alive immediately after He gave up His Spirit - He ministered to imprisoned spirits or saints - prior to His resurrection some 3 days later.
I have replied to quite a few comments on this sermon. I believe all of your questions would be answered if you read my comments them but I understand they're harder to find when there are more comments. Here are shorter and more specific answers to your questions. "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you." Philippians 1:23-24. In this passage, Paul is speaking of death (desire to depart) at which point he'll be with Christ. He then says remaining in a body (the flesh) is more beneficial for them. That should explain what "Absent from the body, present with the Lord" means. Paul had been through many trials and was ready to go to rest in death. At the death of the body, the soul does not die. The soul of a righteous person never dies but the soul of a wicked person eventually dies forever in hell fire. The soul of a person whose body has died is sleeping a deep sleep in death. "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:5-6. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28. Matthew 10:28 makes a clear distinction between a person's body and a person's soul. When a person's body dies that person's soul does not die. In this passage "soul" means man's mental faculties. God keeps a memory of our thought processes in a sleeping state when we die and restores them to a body at the resurrection. The soul of one who is following Christ in everything never dies but the soul of a wicked person, or that which constituted that persons intellectual process, is eventually completely destroyed in hell fire. "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43 from the King James Version (KJV). Actually all the quotations I've used are from the KJV. Early English like Greek had no punctuation between words, no spacing between words and no capital letters. When the KJV was written, there were capital letters, spacing between words and punctuation but punctuation hadn't been standardized. A comma was not used to change the meaning of a sentence but rather for the convenience of reading the Scripture to others. The meaning is made clear in another passage. "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." John 20:17 from the KJV. In this passage Jesus is speaking to Mary. After Jesus' resurrection on Sunday, He said He had not yet been to heaven (paradise) so He could not have been with the thief on the cross on the same day that He he died.

Yes when we die our bodies return to dust. Our spirits live on. Depending upon what our behavior was when we were living will determine where our spirits go when we leave our body.
Hello! The idea that our spirit goes to either heaven or hell when we die is a common misconception. You can read more about that here: lifehopeandtruth.com/life/life-after-death/what-is-heaven/go-to-heaven/ lifehopeandtruth.com/life/life-after-death/what-is-hell/christ-didnt-condemn-non-christians-to-hell/
There are endless different places our spirits go when we die. Not just heaven or Hell. I haven’t been there yet so I can’t be specific but I do know by what I have seen that there are people who wonder. People who do special work and people who are trapped and are troubled because of the evil spirits who we welcomed to inhabited our bodies when we are alive by our sinning.
The word IMMORTAL means .. [ incapable of dying ]. According to the Bible, is the SOUL incapable of dying ? EZEKIEL 18:4 and verse 20, make it clear that the SOUL is [ NOT IMMORTAL ] The verses say .. (The SOUL can SIN and also DIE.) EZEKIEL 18:4 "Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die." EZEKIEL 18::20 "The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him." I'm sure you have heard someone say POOR SOUL, right ? That's because the word SOUL simply means (A person or creature that breathes.) The false teaching of hellfire .. .. is based on .. The false immortal soul teaching. Once you understand that there is .. (NO immortal soul) .. then the false teaching of hellfire falls completly apart. .
“It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body." Is there a physical resurrection here on this earth? I don't see that anywhere in the Bible.
*"It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body."* You quoted 1 Cor. 15: 44. That entire chapter is about resurrection and vs. 35-58 are about the resurrected body. Were you looking for something else?
@@Anglo-SaxonGhost I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing. I didn't understand the question in your earlier post and I was probing for some clarification.
@@Anglo-SaxonGhost That is the exact same question worded in the exact same way as before. I didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now. Are you reading _"it is raised a spiritual body"_ and seeing _"it is raised a spirit body"?_
please explain the story of Lazarus the poor man who was eating the crumbs from the rich man and his wounds licked by dogs. When he died, the Bible tells us that he was comforted in Abraham's bosom and that the rich man went to hell and was seeking to warn his living relatives. Doesn't that imply that his soul lives on, as he could still remember his loved ones and wanted to warn them?
Hey, Shirley! Thanks so much for the question! There are two keys to understanding the parable of Lazarus and the rich man. First, it is a parable, or a fictional story, intended to teach a moral lesson. It is not a statement of doctrine contradicting the scriptures we cited in the episode. Second, Jesus’ intended purpose for the story was to address the issues of hypocrisy and greed (Luke 16:14-15), not life after death. We’ve prepared two articles on this topic that explain why the parable doesn’t contradict the many clear scriptures that teach the human soul is not immortal. You can find them here: lifehopeandtruth.com/life/life-after-death/what-is-hell/lazarus-and-the-rich-man/ and lifehopeandtruth.com/life/life-after-death/what-is-hell/meaning-of-parable-of-rich-man-and-lazarus/.
The story of the rich man and Lazarus cannot be a history lesson, Shirley. Here is how we know. In it Abraham says that Moses and the prophets are sufficient warning of hell. But Moses and the prophets never said anything about hell. In fact, there is no mention of eternal conscious torment anywhere in the Old Testament. If it is a true story (it isn't) that would mean that Abraham lied to Dives.

'resurrection' means 'being raised to be living again'. Handful cases are in OT and NT, other than the famous resurrection of Jesus. They lived again and died. The bodily being as we all are has to die. But the NT does not say about Jesus dying again, but introduce the religious word 'ascension'. Ascend to heaven. What is heaven? where is heaven? what people and gods do in heaven - more many hope to go instead of hell (cf. hell fire preaching)? What the heck is hell? and What the heck is heaven? Why people want to go heaven? To do what in heaven? Is it same or paradise or nirvana?
Wow wow I'm so so confused because I always watch people who says the have this near death experiences were they were taken to he'll and what they saw their and even names of persons that they saw their brother I'm so confused but I keep asking the true creator who created this universe to reveal what I should know and do in this lifetime all I want to do is to do that which is right in creator sight and to please our creator in all I do Amen
The key to the dilemma is "near death." They are not all the way dead. They are, as it were, having a bad dream. "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. [6] Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:5-6. When you "know not any thing" you don't even have a bad dream. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28 from the King James Version (KJV). That verse makes a clear distinction between the body and the soul. In this passage "soul" means a person's thought processes. When a person's body dies, the soul does not die because God keeps a memory of that persons intellectual processes and restores it to a body at the resurrection. That person's soul, however, is in a deep sleep and knows nothing. At the resurrection of the righteous, that person's thought processes are united in a conscious state to a new body and that person has eternal life. At the resurrection of the wicked, the person's thought process are also united to a body and that person is judged. "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." Revelation 20:12-13 from the KJV. After the resurrected wicked person is judged, both the soul (mental processes) and the body are destroyed forever in hell fire. God no longer keeps their mental processes in His memory. The are gone forever. The soul of a righteous person never dies but when that person's body dies the soul of that person is kept safe in God's memory until the resurrection of the body.
I believe some people are sometimes given a vision of the future by God, but their time is not yet to die. Some may be just human dreams and mean only what they have been troubled about.
The soul is NOT something that we possess and lives on after death, that is "breathed into us", for how many have read what Genesis 2:7 says ? It reads according to the Catholic Douay Version: "And the Lord God formed man of the slime of the earth: and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became ("become", Hebrew hayah, meaning "to exist, i.e. be or become", and NOT put within) a living soul." So, Genesis 2:7 shows that until the first man Adam was "breathed into his face the breath of life" by God, he was a DEAD soul, or a non-breathing soul, for the word soul in Hebrew is nephesh, that literally means "breather, a breathing creature", so that anything that breathes IS a soul and NOT has a soul. For example, at Numbers 31:28, it reads according to the Catholic Douay Version: "And thou shalt separate a portion to the Lord from them that fought and were in the battle, one soul of five hundred as well of persons as of oxen and asses and sheep", in which the plunder that the Israelites acquired from them taking vengeance on the Midianites and Moabites for their women seducing Israelite men to worship Baal of Peor in exchange for sex, included people and animals who ARE souls and does NOT possess a soul. At Deuteronomy 12:20, the Catholic Douay Version reads: "When the Lord thy God shall have enlarged thy borders, as he hath spoken to thee, and thou wilt eat the flesh that thy soul desireth", showing the soul is a person desiring to eat "flesh" or meat. At Leviticus 23:29, 30, it reads according to the Catholic Douay Version: "Every soul that is not afflicted on this day, shall perish ("perish", Hebrew karath, meaning "to cut off or down, to destroy or consume") from among his people: And every soul that shall do any work, the same will I destroy ("destroy", Hebrew ' abad, meaning "to perish, causative, destroy") from among his people." And at Jeremiah 2:34, it reads according to the Catholic Douay Version: "And in thy skirts (of the nation of Israel that is described as a wicked woman) is found the blood of the souls of the poor and innocent? not in ditches have I found them, but in all places, which I mentioned before." Thus, after Peter had healed a man lame from birth, he told the Jewish crowd in the temple that it was through Jesus Christ as "God's Servant......the righteous one" that this man was healed (Acts 3:13), with Peter saying at Acts 3:22, 23 according to the Catholic Douay Version: "For Moses said (at Deut 18:15, 18, 19):" "A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me: him you shall hear according to all things whatsoever he shall speak to you. And it shall be, that every soul which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed ("destroyed" Greek exolothreuo, meaning "root out and destroy completely") from among the people." So, what has been learned here ? That (1), the soul breathes, (2) that the soul desires to eat meat, (3) that the soul can be destroyed, and (4) that the soul has blood. So, what is the proper conclusion of what the soul is ? Anything that breathes, such as animals, including insects and arachnids, and it is us as humans, us as a living person with all our desires, so that as long as we are breathing, we are "a living soul", but upon death we become a dead soul. And it need be understood that there is NO purgatory, for when a person dies, they cease to exist, as Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6 states according to the Catholic Douay Version: "For the living know that they shall die, but the dead know NOTHING MORE, neither have they a reward any more: for the memory of them is forgotten. Their love also, and their hatred, and their envy are all perished ("perished", Hebrew ' abad, meaning "to perish, causative, destroy"), neither have they any part in this world, and in the work that is done under the sun."
Here are some suggestions. Don't yap about what the Greek or Hebrew say because I doubt you could order a sandwich in Israel or Greece in the native language and you are communicating with English speaking people. Secondly, if you're going to use the Douay Rheims Bible to make your point, you should be a bit more familiar with what it says in other places. "Because Christ also died once for our sins, the just for the unjust: that he might offer us to God, being put to death indeed in the flesh, but enlivened in the spirit, In which also coming he preached to those spirits that were in prison: Which had been some time incredulous, when they waited for the patience of God in the days of Noe, when the ark was a building,: wherein a few, that is, eight souls, were saved by water." 1 Peter 3:18-20 from the Douay Rheims Biblem (DRB). The DRB teaches that Christ was brought to life "in the spirit" which means not a flesh and blood body. After being made alive in the spirit he "preached" to apparently conscious "spirits" of wicked people who had died in the flood. If Jesus' spirit preached to those wicked spirits who had died in the flood, they must still have been capable of being saved. This is a fantastic passage to teach the doctrine of purgatory. You can also use the New International Version and the English Standard Version to teach from "the Bible" the doctrine of purgatory. You also need to get out an English dictionary from which you can learn the meanings of "soul" and "spirit" in English. You don't need to know what nephesh or ruach mean. "Soul" can mean a living human being and it can mean the conscious mental processes of that living person. You can also learn all of this by using your real Protestant Bible, the King James Version (notice that I didn't say the New King James Verson).
If the soul of a sinner dies then explain why disembodied sinners spirits haunt the living? Explain why there are hosts of evil spirits who never were allowed to have a body and who torment the living? There are many scriptures that reference people in the spirit world. There is a Hell and a paradise and a spirit prison where evil persons spirits go when they die.
There is confusion on this subject because there is too much talk about the Hebrew and the Greek when there is too little understanding of English. In English, the meaning of a word can be different depending on how it's used. "Soul" can mean a person or that intangible part of a person we call intellect or thought processes. Depending on the context, "spirit" can mean the same thing as "soul" or it can mean an evil angel or demon or the Holy Spirit. The "spirit prison" you speak of is found in the following passage. "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water." 1 Peter 3:18-20 from the King James Version (KJV). In that passage "prison" means death of the body after which the "spirit" or "soul" of that person is kept in a sleeping state in the "prison" of death. Spirit in this context means man's conscious thought processes. This has been confused because of new bibles such as the New International Version (NIV) which contain gross errors. Here's that passage from the NIV. "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits-to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water," 1 Peter 3:18-20 from the NIV. The NIV says Jesus was made alive "in the Spirit" while the KJV says Jesus was quickened (made alive) "by the Spirit." In the KJV the Spirit is the Holy Spirit "by" which His body was made alive at His resurrection. In the NIV, it clearly says Jesus was raised "in" the Spirit which means only His Spirit and not His body was resurrected. This is a gross error. The KJV goes on t say that it was "by" the Spirit (Holy Spirit) that the wicked people that died in the flood were preached to. Peter explains this further in another passage. "And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;" 2 Peter 2:5 from the KJV. It was by the Holy Spirit that Jesus spoke to the antediluvians though Noah. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28 from the King James Version (KJV). That verse makes a clear distinction between the body and the soul.
Disembodied sinners spirits haunting the living is not Biblical. Sometimes Satan and his demons can enter people's bodies. Luke 4:33-36 New King James Version 33 Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are-the Holy One of God!” 35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, [a]“Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him. 36 Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” Also Spirit beings cannot die - Satan and his demons will be bound Revelation 20:1-3
"Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more." Ezekiel 28:14-19. See the part about "anointed cherub?" A cherub is an angel or you could call it a spirit being. Then read on down where it says that fallen angel, who is Lucifer also called the Devil and Satan, has been turned "to ashes" and "never" shall "be any more." All of the fallen angels will be destroyed forever; they aren't immortal. @@mariabarnard4484
@@mariabarnard4484 It is true that the spirits of those who chose to follow Satan in the premortal world and who will never have bodies are allowed to enter the bodies of the living. The living, with the help of the Savior Jesus Christ, can cast them out of their bodies still today. The time will come when Satan and his evil host will be bound. That is called the millennium. Until that day comes Satan and these evil spirits want to bring the living down with them and do everything in their power to influence them. People who have lived with a body and then died are called disembodied spirits. Those spirits who lived a righteous life will dwell in paradise. Those who did evil acts during their life and didn’t repent will either suffer for their sins in spirit prison or simply wonder and hang around people and try to talk to the living for one reason or another. It depends upon how serious their sins were while they were alive. Murderers and adulterers and rapists for example in my opinion, would definitely not be free to wonder the earth but I could be wrong. They would be in a special place where they would have to suffer for their sins. Many people have seen different kinds of spirits and spoken with them. It is very common. Many people have seen angelic spirits who are radiant and holy who come to comfort and uplift. It is true that no spirit dies.
the only reason i can think of for steering people away from their immortal souls is because of what we could discover about ourselves that contradicts church authority. so of course they are going to keep us down with lies that go directly against the personal experience of MILLIONS that had incredible brushes with the spirit world and they all came back with the same message. the spirit of god is within us and thus we can never really die spiritually. what do you have to fear from people who know this truth other than it would prove how corrupted the gospel message has become.

Explain; 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole SPIRIT AND SOUL AND BODY be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. We not being able to "Rightly divide the Word of Truth" will do yOur best at explaining away that which does not agree with yOur traditions. But the word of God does not debate with yOur traditions, it speaks and is No Lie. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. On the subject of eternal life, you say we don't have it, well again let the Word of God speak. 1 John 5:11 - 13 11. And this is the record, that God HATH GIVEN TO US ETERNAL LIFE, and this life is in His Son. 12. He that hath the Son HATH LIFE; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. THESE THINGS HAVE I WRITTEN unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; THAT YOU MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. WHO IS JESUS: 1 John 1:1 - 2 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2. (For THE LIFE was manifested, AND WE HAVE SEEN IT, and bear witness, AND SHOW UNTO YOU THAT ETERNAL LIFE, WHICH WAS WITH THE FATHER, and was manifested unto us;) Jesus is the Eternal Life of God, Therefore, if He (Jesus) is within you/us, then, That Eternal Life IS also Within you.
You are very right my friend, you are. In saying we have everlasting life, you admit that it is ONLY through Christ living in us. Which still points to one fact that we as humans DO NOT have everlasting life on our own, and if we want it, there's a way to get it (Through Christ living in us) There you are right. At the same time, by saying it is through Christ that we can have everlasting life, you also say we are mortal, we die, we are not immortal. God wants us to be immortal like Him, that's His plan, that we should be in His image and likeness. BUT WE ARE NOT YET. If there's a part of us that continues to live after death, why do we need resurrection anyway?
@JOHNOKUMU-xo6ux I appreciate your response my brother, However on the questions you posed, regarding "souls (of christians) not living, as that would, (in your estimation) show no need for a resurrection. I would like to respond with this passage of scripture for your consideration, as I believe IT will answer your concerns, and might even result in more Studying. I humbly submit, Revelation 6:9-11 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar THE SOULS of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11. And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, UNTIL their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
@@333counselor I appreciate your response a lot my good friend. Let me answer the passage from Revelation 6. The book of Revelation and Daniel are full of symbolism which are not really what is usually seen, but tells us something quite different. You read of beasts representing kingdoms, you see a woman representing a church, you see a white horse, a pale horse, a red horse with their different meanings. I don't want to go into explaining what they each mean but rather dive straight to the question about the souls of those who were beheaded for their testimony. Let me bring this verse up to explain it better. Acts 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. Those who received the word Peter spoke on Pentecost and repented and got baptized were about 3000 souls. And then lets look at Genesis 12:5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came. What is being called soul here is the living being, as NKJV renders. So in the vision, the revelation of Jesus Christ to John in Apocalypse (Revelation 6),John was seeing living beings/souls(people) who were persecuted earlier. The message continues to point of yet another persecution which is yet to happen in the future as you read.. verse 11, Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed. The message is about a future persecution of the faithful ones who keep the faith of Christ. Let me consider answering this question, Are the dead aware of what the living are doing? Can they harm us? Can we pray to them for help? Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished; Nevermore will they have a share In anything done under the sun. If we believe God, then this is what He says about the state of the dead. They know nothing. The only hope is in resurrection of the dead. Satan since the beginning has deceived man, that you shall not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of this fruit you will become like Him. And where is Adam and Eve today? They died. It is that same lie that he is telling people today that we have an immortal soul, we will not die but continue to live after death! Same lie. God says the soul that sin it shall die! Who should we believe? Why am I even asking this? How can we believe the father of lies? If he speaks a lie, he speaks out of his resource. I hope this helps answer your question my good friend.
@JOHNOKUMU-xo6ux You Say, John was seeing LIVING beings, people who were persecuted, Friend, the Bible says THEY WERE KILLED, beheaded, Understanding Symbolism, is one thing. Intentionally misreading the WORD of God is another. I Notice You have not addressed the passage I submitted which clearly states and shows a distinction between BODY AND SOUL AND SPIRIT. Or maybe you would like to correct the Apostle Paul so he could see your 'opinion' and disregard the doctrine he taught.
@@333counselor I appreciate your response. I think my explanation was not exhaustive enough. Let me shed more lights. Can we see horse in a vision? Yes, can we see bear in a vision? Yes, can we see beasts coming out of the sea and land in a vision? Yes. Can we see souls/living beings/nefesh in a vision? Yes we can. The problem is that you are approaching the passage with already preconceived thought about soul, as something that lives inside a man and can live on its own independent of the dust/flesh. Please read Ezekiel 18:4,20. Soul can die, and that is what God said in the beginning. In the day that you eat of the fruit is the day you will die. A soul/living being can die that is why they were seen as those who were beheaded for the testimony of Christ. They are not spirits. Now consider Genesis 12:5 and Acts 2:41 and explain them to me. After that, then tell me if the dead know anything. If the dead knows nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5,6) then how do we explain Revelation 6:9-11? I believe you agree with Jesus Christ that the Bible doesn't contradict itself, it cannot be broken (John 10:35)
First of all, if you use a corrupt bible you may be confused. You also need to understand that words in English can have more than one meaning depending on the context. The word "soul" can mean a living human being and it can mean it can mean the intellectual processes of a living human being. An English dictionary will confirm this. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28 from the King James Version (KJV). That verse makes a clear distinction between the body and the soul.
*"...then why is there a Hell?"* There is no hell. Everywhere we see the word "hell" in a Bible version it is a mistranslation of either "Sheol," "Hades," or "Gehenna." None of the three is a place of eternal conscious torment. ✴ _…when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction…._ (2 Thessalonians 1: 7-9, ESV)
@@IsaacNussbaum There will be a hell but I agree, it's not "a place of eternal conscious torment" as long as you are using an infallible Bible. "And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire." Matthew 18:9 (KJV). Your 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 isn't as helpful as you think. According to the Oxford English Reference Dictionary (revised second edition), one of the meanings of the word "destruction" means "the act or an instance of destroying: the process of being destroyed." In your Roman Catholic ESV, "the process of being destroyed" could go on for a LONG time; even eternity. The ESV also clearly teaches the doctrine of purgatory in at least one place. "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, in which he went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, because they formerly did not obey, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water." 1 Peter 3:18-20 (ESV). The ESV says Christ was made alive "in the spirit" meaning not in a flesh and blood body. It goes on to say that Christ's resurrected spirit spoke to the "spirits" of people who had died in the flood. If Jesus' spoke to the spirits of people who had died in the flood there is every reason to believe they were conscious and that the door of salvation wasn't yet closed to them. That, by far, isn't the only thing wrong with the ESV. "And there was again war with the Philistines at Gob, and Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, the Bethlehemite, struck down Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver's beam." 2 Samuel 21:19 (ESV). It's common knowledge that David, not Elhanan, killed Goliath.
Jesus returns in the clouds in the air, where we will meet Him at the pre-trib Rapture/Harpazo of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 The pre-trib Rapture/Harpazo and the 2nd coming are 2 separate events. At the pre-trib Rapture/Harpazo, the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive and remain will be, (caught up) which means to rapture, to meet the Lord in the air. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 At the 2nd coming, Jesus will set His feet upon the Mount of Olives on earth. Zechariah14:4
Paul said that God the Father is "The one ALONE having immortalitiy" That is he CANNOT die! Yet Jesus DID "Die and was buried and rose again on the third day" ( as the scriptures frequently say!). Yet for his faithful course he was GIFTED immortality at his resurrection! He stated "As the Father has life in himself ( immortality) HE HAS GIFTED ( Greek 'edoken' to 'give' to 'grant') that the SON SHALL HAVE LIFE IN HIMSELF". (John 5:26) Paul also shows that we DONt have an 'immortal sou'' but "This mortal will PUT ON immortaliy" 1 Cor 15|: 53,54.
This would appear to contradict Jesus' story in Luke 16:19-31 where the selfish greedy Rich man dies and goes to Hell (notice he doesn't say the soul died) and the poor beggar Lazarus dies and goes to Heaven.
Start reading at Luke 16:1. Jesus is telling a parable. The story of Lazarus is another parable. You can find that death is repeatedly described as a sleep in the Bible. "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. [6] Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 from the King James Version. Words in English can have more than one meaning depending on the context.
Soul can mean the same thing as spirit. It depends on the context in which those words were used. "Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul." Job 7:11. In that passage, both "soul" and "spirit" mean man's thought processes. "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1. In 1 John 4:1, "spirit" can be the Holy Spirit or an evil spirit or demon. God's prophets are inspired by the Holy Spirit; a false prophet is inspired by a demon or evil spirit. You are advised to try them and you try them by the Word of God. "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20. @@thirdrockfromdsun2873
I think I understand what you are saying. I don’t believe that when a person’s body dies the spirit goes into a sleep mode. The scripture you quoted explaining how Jesus taught the spirits in the spirit world means to me exactly what it says. Those spirits could not have been taught by Christ if they were sleeping. The resurrection will be the time when the spirits of the dead will reunite with their body and that is what the resurrection will be. The spirit world is where our spirits or souls go when we die and leave our bodies. It is obvious that spirits when separated from the body are sleeping because of the activities most of us witness often. Spirits can be very busy doing the work of the lord or do great evil in service of Satan. Death is merely a change into another part of life. There is life after death. When you choose to do evil works in this life your soul will go to a real prison setting where you will have to suffer for your sins. If you choose to follow the Savior and do good works in this life or morality then the atonement will be applied to you and you will be saved from having to suffer for your sins. Repentance and obedience to Gods commandments is the key to our salvation.
Let us understand the word translated as soul. If you check in other translations, you will find 'living being' or 'living creature (ESV) which is the same word used to describe animal life. We have never bothered if animals have a soul, but let's not go there yet even. Who can tell us about us better than the one who made us? No one of course. Now what does He say about a soul? Ezekiel 18:4 “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die. It's clear from His word that a soul dies. In fact He repeats in verse 20 that a soul dies. One thing people have failed to understand is that there is a spirit in man, and we tend to take that spirit and call it a soul. Job 32:8. But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. It is this spirit that we mistake to be a soul, but no, it's not. It's the breath of life which sets human far apart from other living beings(nephesh). Job says it's the breath of the Almighty, and when did God give that? Right at the creation of man. Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. It is this spirit in man that makes him plan, think, understand and do all that any other living beings can't. Apostle Paul also spoke about the spirit in man in his letter. (1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?....) So we have a spirit in us, which is the spirit in man. We take the last one from Zechariah. Zechariah 12:1 [1]The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: So there is a spirit of man in man, that God gave. What happens at death? Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it. As simple as that. Spirit of man leaves the dust and that is what we call death. And where does the two go? Dust to dust and the spirit returns to Him who gave it. Man is mortal, man can die. Man wants to live, man doesn't want to die. We were created with the desire to want life. BUT WE DON'T HAVE THAT LIFE! We must accept that life from God, He alone has that life... And He will give it as a gift. He alone has that life, He alone is immortal (doesn't die) and He wants to share that life with you and I if we choose His way of life. For God so loved the world that He gave His....... But have everlasting life. We don't have that life on our own, we are mortal but He wants us to be immortal and have everlasting life.
First of all, you can teach the doctrine of the immortality of the soul using the English Standard Version (ESV). The ESV is a Roman Catholic Bible so you can expect that. Regarding the definition of soul. In English it can mean a person or it can mean the intellectual process of that person. You don't need to know what nephesh or ruach mean. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28 from the King James Version (KJV). That verse makes a clear distinction between the body and the soul. They don't have eternal life like the righteous person does.
@@ounkwon6442 my friend, thanks for your question. The truth is, God doesn't force life everlasting on anyone. If He wanted it, He would have done that already without even creating us in a mortal form anyway. But No. What benefit do you think God gets by us having to live forever? Nothing. And what would be the benefit of creating humans who cannot even decide for themselves? We would be nothing more than programed robots. So God plunged the gift of free will, choice in our hands to decide if we want to live forever or not. And again, He won't force you if you don't want. But if you want, it's a free gift that He is more than willing to share with you and everyone else who makes the same decision. To want life everlasting. It's a choice everyone have to make. And as for me, I want to live forever I don't know what you want; but I believe you too want to never be forgotten you ever existed.
@@JohnOkumu-xo6ux What is life everlasting? What the heck is life? Which life? What life? Life of a person ends at his death. Is it different life? What's use of life being everlasting? Uh?
The story of the rich man and Lazarus cannot be a history lesson, Michael.
These are 100% FALSE / inaccurate preachings by "Life, Hope, & Truth!" God created man in His own image and since God is an eternal spirit the spirit that resides within the physical body is eternal as well. Scripture tell us this EXACTLY as the physical body is just a temporary container for the soul / spirit. This is also why Jesus told His followers to avoid Hell at all cost and to cut off the body part that is cause one to sin, for it is far better to enter Heaven less that body part than to enter Hell complete person. Jesus Himself even said that very few will make it through the narrow gate and many will choose the wide gate that will lead to their destruction. This is also exactly why everyone MUST face there day of judgment before God after they die. If the soul / spirit is to be destroyed then creating Hell would be totally irrelevant because people could virtually sin 24/7 since their soul would be destroyed anyways. Sin has to have a purpose and that purpose is that those who sin will pay the penalty by spending eternity in Hell. Whereas those who do follow the scriptures teachings and do Good will spend eternity in Heaven. This is why both Heaven and Hell are eternal spiritual realms where the soul / spirit is destined for after one's physical body expires here in the physical world..... Preaching things one does fully understand is like rewriting the Bible to suit one's own personal beliefs.
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28. God can and will destroy both "soul" and "body" of the wicked in hell.
With all due respect, this is nonsense.Immortal means unable to be killed. When the Lord died on the cross,He came back from beyond the grave literally,if anyone else died on a cross they wouldn't be coming back... that would be the end of them. The Lord conquered death, and offers eternity in Heaven for all who choose to accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour. There's a hell because God is just.and the bible is clear on this.Cultists always have to have all their beliefs in a box.
Jesus Christ was resurrected after 3 days and 3 nights into a spirit being and is at the right hand of God - He being the first to do so Colossians 1:15-19 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself will come to have first place in everything. For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in him. :::: Everyone will have their chance for repentance and salvation - at the moment God isn't calling everyone (yet) John 6:44 Matt 22:14 People who haven't been called or known about Jesus Christ will be resurrected to physical life for their chance for salvation Revelation 20:12-15 and if they don't repent they will loose their life forever in Hell (to be burnt up and gone). This physical resurrection will occur after Jesus Christ returns to the Earth to set up His Kingdom for 1000 years. Revelation20:4-6
Some bibles do day Jesus was resurrected into a spirit being. That will contradict the same bible in another place. Who knows what "the Bible" you're using but here it is from a popular one. "Now Thomas (also known as Didymus ), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. [25] So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." [26] A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" [27] Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." John 20:24-27 from the NIV. If you let me know what bible you're using that says Jesus was resurrected into a "sprit being" I'll be happy to show you some of it's other errors.@@mariabarnard4484
Perhaps you can show a Scripture passage that says "Hell is the grave that's it." For starters I'll show you a passage that can be taken to mean hell is the hot place and not just "the grave that's it." "And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:" Mark 9:43.@@Perseverance4477
@@martinlohne5128 The soul is mortal and can die. The soul isn't immortal to is subject to death. Immortality is a gift that the Christian puts on at the resurrection. (To the sound of the Seventh Trumpet.)
I never said the soul couldn't die. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28. Matthew 10:28 makes a clear distinction between the body and the soul. Man can destroy the body like when Christian martyrs were burned at the stake but the soul lives on because only God can destroy it. Soul in this passage means man's thought processes; God keeps a memory of them in a sleeping (not conscious at all) and restores those though processes (or soul) to a new body at the resurrection. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death." John 8:51. "Never" really means never. If you follow Christ in everything, your soul will "never" die. The soul is in a deep sleep when the body dies but it's not dead. The soul of a wicked person is destroyed eventually in hell fire. @@maxamahnken7325
Read John 8:51 again. It clearly says in English that " If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death." "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28. The soul (or thought processes) of a Christian martyr never dies in the sense that God keeps a memory ot that persons intellectual processes in a sleeping state when that person's body dies. The soul of a wicked person doesn't die either until after the judgment at which time that person's soul and body is destroyed forever in hell fire. @@maxamahnken7325
No, actually immortality is what we get when we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour and follow His leading in everything. In Scripture "soul" can mean two things. It can mean a living human being or it can mean the mental processes of that living human being. Your bible or an English dictionary will show that. "Spirit" can also mean a living persons mental process or a fallen angel or the Holy Spirit. "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28. That verse plainly teaches that NO one can kill the soul except God and that only happens in hell fire when the wicked are destroyed forever both body and soul. God keeps a memory of a person's mental processes (also called soul) and in that respect the soul never dies unless it's destroyed forever in hell. The soul of a dead person, however, is sleeping and is entirely unaware of anything and is incapable of doing anything. @@maxamahnken7325

Only God has immortality......not Man. Christians put on immortality to at the return of Christ. (Seventh ------ Trumpet.)

Luke 20:36
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Based on That Statement, THEN THIS QUESTION IS FOREVER ANSWERED. "Do Angel's Die?"
And If [Since] The Answer Is NO, Then Satan and The Fallen Angels, CANNOT be burned to extinction in the Lake of fire, which is the second removal from the Presence of God.
Every Human being will be resurrected, Some to ETERNAL LIFE and Some to ETERNAL DAMNATION.

Qn. What do you say about nonbelievers, Eternal torment in hell or just non-existence?
In God's perfect plan, He desires ALL men to be saved. He wants ALL(total sum) to come to repentance. (2Pt 3:9)
But how can one repent when one doesn't even know what one should repent of?
Repentance is a gift from God, which can lead one to salvation. (2 Timothy 2:25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth)
The whole world has been deceived by the evil one (Rev 12:9) so that they believe not the gospel of repentance.
1 Corinthians 15:22-23
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.
BUT EACH ONE IN HIS OWN ORDER: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.)
Only those who are Christ's at His coming.. and we know who are those who are Christ's, they are those being led by His Spirit.
Those people will be saved, FROM WHAT? From the power of death, the second death.
Only those who are Christ's will be resurrected at Christ's return.
(1 Thessalonians 4:16
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.)
These are the category you called believers. Where does that leave the nonbelievers? Remember they are not resurrected.
Is that why people think they are burning in hell? Well, the Bible tells us a different thing.
Revelation 20:5
But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished.
Isaiah 25:7
(And He will destroy on this mountain The surface of the covering cast over all people, And the veil that is spread over all nations.)
This will be their due time for salvation.
They will become ashes
(Malachi 4:3 You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this, ” Says the Lord of hosts.)
It is eternal punishMENT, not eternal punishING. They will never exist again, that makes it eternal punishMENT. Not punishING.
I hope with patience you can understand that God is so patient with us all and has laid a perfect plan to save everyone IF we choose to obey Him.
Amen , amen
Thankfull......

Thank you for your explanation. What happens to the spirit when he dies.
Yes when we die our bodies return to dust. Our spirits live on. Depending upon what our behavior was when we were living will determine where our spirits go when we leave our body.
Hello! The idea that our spirit goes to either heaven or hell when we die is a common misconception. You can read more about that here: lifehopeandtruth.com/life/life-after-death/what-is-heaven/go-to-heaven/

The word
IMMORTAL means ..
[ incapable of dying ].
According to the Bible, is the SOUL incapable of dying ?
EZEKIEL 18:4 and verse 20, make it clear that the SOUL is
[ NOT IMMORTAL ]
The verses say ..
(The SOUL can SIN and also DIE.)
EZEKIEL 18:4
"Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die."
EZEKIEL 18::20
"The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."
I'm sure you have heard someone say
POOR SOUL, right ?
That's because the word SOUL simply means
(A person or creature that breathes.)
The false teaching of hellfire ..
.. is based on ..
The false immortal soul teaching.
Once you understand that there is ..
(NO immortal soul) ..
then the false teaching of hellfire falls completly apart.

please explain the story of Lazarus the poor man who was eating the crumbs from the rich man and his wounds licked by dogs.

What is resurrected if our bodies have turned to dust?
A lot of these are Satan's deceptions. If they go against the word of God in any way, it was from satan
The soul is NOT something that we possess and lives on after death, that is "breathed into us", for how many have read what Genesis 2:7 says ? It reads according to the Catholic Douay Version: "And the Lord God formed man of the slime of the earth: and breathed into his face the breath of life, and man became ("become", Hebrew hayah, meaning "to exist, i.e. be or become", and NOT put within) a living soul."
So, Genesis 2:7 shows that until the first man Adam was "breathed into his face the breath of life" by God, he was a DEAD soul, or a non-breathing soul, for the word soul in Hebrew is nephesh, that literally means "breather, a breathing creature", so that anything that breathes IS a soul and NOT has a soul.
At Leviticus 23:29, 30, it reads according to the Catholic Douay Version: "Every soul that is not afflicted on this day, shall perish ("perish", Hebrew karath, meaning "to cut off or down, to destroy or consume") from among his people: And every soul that shall do any work, the same will I destroy ("destroy", Hebrew ' abad, meaning "to perish, causative, destroy") from among his people."
And at Jeremiah 2:34, it reads according to the Catholic Douay Version: "And in thy skirts (of the nation of Israel that is described as a wicked woman) is found the blood of the souls of the poor and innocent? not in ditches have I found them, but in all places, which I mentioned before."
Thus, after Peter had healed a man lame from birth, he told the Jewish crowd in the temple that it was through Jesus Christ as "God's Servant......the righteous one" that this man was healed (Acts 3:13), with Peter saying at Acts 3:22, 23 according to the Catholic Douay Version: "For Moses said (at Deut 18:15, 18, 19):"
"A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me: him you shall hear according to all things whatsoever he shall speak to you. And it shall be, that every soul which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed ("destroyed" Greek exolothreuo, meaning "root out and destroy completely") from among the people."
So, what has been learned here ?
The Bible teaches that the soul that sins shall die. Souls are mortal ------ and can die.
Disembodied sinners spirits haunting the living is not Biblical. Sometimes Satan and his demons can enter people's bodies. Luke 4:33-36
New King James Version
33 Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are-the Holy One of God!”
35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, [a]“Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.

2. (For THE LIFE was manifested, AND WE HAVE SEEN IT, and bear witness, AND SHOW UNTO YOU THAT ETERNAL LIFE, WHICH WAS WITH THE FATHER, and was manifested unto us;)
Jesus is the Eternal Life of God,
Therefore, if He (Jesus) is within you/us, then, That Eternal Life IS also Within you.
You are very right my friend, you are.
In saying we have everlasting life, you admit that it is ONLY through Christ living in us. Which still points to one fact that we as humans DO NOT have everlasting life on our own, and if we want it, there's a way to get it (Through Christ living in us)
There you are right.
Acts 2:41
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
Those who received the word Peter spoke on Pentecost and repented and got baptized were about 3000 souls.
And then lets look at Genesis 12:5
And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6
For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten.
@JOHNOKUMU-xo6ux You Say, John was seeing LIVING beings, people who were persecuted,
Friend, the Bible says THEY WERE KILLED, beheaded,
Understanding Symbolism, is one thing.
But if the Soul of the unsaved sinner just dies, then why is there a Hell? Makes no sense. And why have a final Judgment if the Soul is already dead?
First of all, if you use a corrupt bible you may be confused. You also need to understand that words in English can have more than one meaning depending on the context. The word "soul" can mean a living human being and it can mean it can mean the intellectual processes of a living human being. An English dictionary will confirm this.
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28 from the King James Version (KJV).
That verse makes a clear distinction between the body and the soul.
Jesus returns in the clouds in the air, where we will meet Him at the pre-trib Rapture/Harpazo of
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
The pre-trib Rapture/Harpazo and the 2nd coming are 2 separate events. At the pre-trib Rapture/Harpazo, the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive and remain will be, (caught up) which means to rapture, to meet the Lord in the air. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
At the 2nd coming, Jesus will set His feet upon the Mount of Olives on earth. Zechariah14:4
Pre-trib rapture? Bwahahaha.
That person's soul, however, is in a deep sleep and knows nothing. At the resurrection of the righteous, that person's thought processes are united in a conscious state to a new body and that person has eternal life. After the resurrected wicked person is judged, both the soul (mental processes) and the body are destroyed forever in hell fire. God no longer keeps their mental processes in His memory. The are gone forever.
@@martinlohne5128 Good points. What is the difference bet the Soul and the Spirit, or are they the same?

Talks about Word of God dividing soul and spirit in bible
Have you defined 'soul'? what the heck is soul to begin with? What the heck is mortal? and immortal?
Let us understand the word translated as soul. If you check in other translations, you will find 'living being' or 'living creature (ESV) which is the same word used to describe animal life. We have never bothered if animals have a soul, but let's not go there yet even.
Who can tell us about us better than the one who made us? No one of course. Now what does He say about a soul?
Ezekiel 18:4
“Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.
(1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?....)
So we have a spirit in us, which is the spirit in man.
We take the last one from Zechariah.
Zechariah 12:1
[1]The burden of the word of the Lord against Israel. Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:
So there is a spirit of man in man, that God gave.
What happens at death?
Ecclesiastes 12:7
Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it.
They don't have eternal life like the righteous person does.
@@JohnOkumu-xo6ux Immortal? What good is the one to live for ever?
Uh?
"what happens when we die" = rich man and Lazarus Luke 16
The story of the rich man and Lazarus cannot be a history lesson, Michael.
Jesus Christ was resurrected after 3 days and 3 nights into a spirit being and is at the right hand of God - He being the first to do so Colossians 1:15-19
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Perhaps you can show a Scripture passage that says "Hell is the grave that's it."
For starters I'll show you a passage that can be taken to mean hell is the hot place and not just "the grave that's it."

We do not possess an immortal soul
Actually, some people do.
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death." John 8:51 from the King James Version.
It clearly says in English that " If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death."
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28.
