  • Taiao is being updated with new features, making it easier to build and animate complex trees and plant life.
    The Growth Point layer in toPlant has been given some advanced controls for the scattering of Taiao objects on scene geometry. Plant life scattering can be driven by vertex maps and shaders, with controls for random scale and rotation variation. Clever spacing options prevent scattered objects from intersecting and multi-instances are supported for ultimate efficiency.
    toLeaf has a brand new layering system for the modeling and animation of leaf veins. Multiple layers can be introduced to create even the most complex leaf vein systems. Each layer has its own separate modifier stack for ultimate control of turbulence and bend effects.
    There are also improvements to the furling modifier across all toPlant layers, making it easier to fine-tune furling effects along the length of an object. The new Angle Bias control offers highly detailed artistic control of furling effects, negating the need for multiple furling layers.

    Thank you for the continued development of useful features.
    I just hope that many features don't create more overload.
    When working with a large number of leaves with growth animation applied, I had an experience where it was very difficult to check the animation in the viewport.

      Some of the large trees like the willow made my viewport crawl to an unusable speed. Just one tree with nothing else. Haven’t had a situation where I needed just a single tree. Kinda why I don’t use Taiao over something like forester or the asset browser trees. Maybe I was missing something. Also not sure if it works better in 2024.

      @@ryanelliott197 I agree. I also tried using the Wind option to express the natural swaying of leaves and flowers on a few vines, but it was so slow that I couldn't use it. In the end, I made it editable and used the mograph random effect to give it a shake. I think it would be better to allow effects to be applied directly to each individual element, such as leaves, flowers, and petals.

    i've never felt such relaxed during work, this plugin changed my way of creating anything and yes, you really can make anything. thank you insydium, can't wait for this update for faster workflow.

      The popping issue was related to the Beta used for the Sneak Peek. The problem has been fixed in the Release Update. If you still experience any popping issues after updating, please let us know.

    Hello, is it already possible to make the plant dynamic somehow? That would be the biggest game changer to taiao plants. While I understand that the stem needs to be just a collider then For example fruit and leaves could be connected to branches with connectors, being dynamic objects - whether that would be a soft body, cloth sim or standard dynamic object. That would also fix the biggest issue with TAIAO which are intersections.

      Currently, Taiao does not have any physical dynamics for collisions and intersections during simulation. However, this is definitely something we want to bring to Taiao in the future. We are actively working on Taiao simulation, and once we have something to show, we will share it. Stay tuned!

    I do have an request. noise box is making a growth snap. Is there an solution or can we expect something more organic with an new update.

      If you are animating the growth options, possibly relating to using a field for the animation, the organs may snap around during these animations. You can minimise this by increasing the resolution of the mesh, either by reducing the 'Segment Resolution' of the plant or by manually increasing the segment count of branches.

      Taiao uses the Cinema 4D multi-instances, which work with Redshift. Octane will need to add support for this feature if they haven't already.

    Endless great tutorials and examples but they all lack when it comes to taking it through to redshift renderer... I know Insydium own and promote Cycles, but lets be honest, the vast majority of C4D users are not interested in cycles... It'd be so beneficial to show how best to integrate these tools along with fire, water, smoke particle sims all the way through into final redshift renders. They often stop at the view port stage.

      While Redshift is now widely available to many users on newer versions of Cinema 4D, some prefer alternatives like Octane and Cycles 4D. For integration with X-Particles, Cycles 4D still offers some benefits. However, we are working on increased support for Redshift, given the growing demand.

      The Taiao growth point layer isn’t meant to replicate the Cinema 4D cloner object. It's designed as an easy-to-use way to scatter plant layers over surfaces, keeping everything in the same procedural system for a clean and streamlined workflow. Thanks.

      I’m not familiar with the product you're referring to. INSYDIUM Fused is a collection of products, ranging from advanced particle effects and fluid simulations to landscapes, terrains, procedural natural growth systems, procedural modeling, and animation. The pricing varies depending on the licensing option you choose.

      @@INSYDIUMLTD You're not familiar with the standard Cinema4d tools? That's funny to me. Plug-ins that come in the package, how to put it mildly, are not in demand, as they do not cover even 5% of all tasks. as for particles and simulations, I see no point in renewing your license, as your policy is absolutely not fair to users.

      @@paraparapiu4474 I'm extremely familiar, having written some of them. A plugin isn't meant to cover everything the host application does, as that would defeat the purpose. Our products offer a range of features, many of which did not exist. Our goal is to enhance possibilities and improve workflow. As for our 'policy,' we offer products for users to choose from or not, as they wish. We've always aimed to be fair and reasonable, providing value while investing in development. We've maintained the same maintenance cost since 2017 whilst adding more features and products.
