    I am really excited to try keeping daffodils all year. I bought a pot of daffodils just recently and was a little disappointed at how overcrowded the pot was. Now knowing that I can cycle them through the refrigerator and have spares in case I screw it up, I am really grateful. I am brand spanking new to gardening, I really just got into the idea of having plants in the house and this is just so exciting to me!
    Woo hoo!

      JaimeEatsMusic Good for you! Indoor plants are Clearing (Of stagnant low energy vibrations, which Will cause mental & physical tiredness that most people attribute to ‘just being tired’!)
      Also consider, as you become more confident, adding a potted Durable (= ‘forgiving’) House plant, one at a time. Write up a card for each one, or start a Plant Notebook’ use one card or paper for each plant with columns/ sections for the following requirements:
      - Sunlight
      - Water
      - Fertilizer; this Will vary from species, Season (Spring/Summer vs Fall/ Winter), & maybe the different cultivars, where they create new variations of the same kind of plant (Eg, variegated with white of lighter green. even red borders or streaks as well as red or silver veins... eg) the azaleas that now bloom in spring as usual in addition to a 2nd time in early Fall). I always look for Natural fert.. eg) Epson Salts (Magnesium Sulfate that all living things require).
      You get the idea. May sound daunting but it is manageable if like anything new that you learn to do, you take it one baby step at a time. Also, you can buy Gardening Journals w/all this info listed, & some include section for documenting success after tweeting certain requirements as you watch them Carefully & take notes!
      Plants are very much like babies/kids & dogs/ Any pet. They thrive with daily visits, speaking thanks for their beauty & uplifting affect in your home, touch them (gets you use to feeling the leaves for ‘limp or strong’, overall appearance.. you can even Lift the pot up to feel the weight of the pot (lighter equals drier, right?)
      - Lastly, (for now!) newbies & even myself- growing tons of plants since college- Get a multifunction Water Meter: measures wetness, Light (lumens like labeled on light bulbs) & pH which can be paramount to success for some plants (eg from outdoors are hydrangeas, Azaleas, etc).
      Ok my dear! I know this is a year later that your comment & I really hope your interest has turned into a obey, or even a passion. Hey, you may end up taking a Master Gardening Course (usually over the winter), & use the new knowledge & skills in a volunteer capacity to beautify schools & spots around town (eg, “other side of the railroad tracks” sort of areas). If interested, search for your local Agricultural Extension center & they’ll even have them there, or can refer you to one nearby.
      Very Best wishes to you in beautifying your home, lifting your spirits/ health & even your neighborhood & town. Everything we do spreads far & wide as it becomes ‘infectious’! ~*~

      @@lauraelizabethgoodyear31 Thanks, sweet of you! Would you know how to make Hyacinth stalks to grow without the blossom buds to spring out into bloom already, pease? The flower buds have just left the bulb but want to slossom already, without a stalk. That is not right and looks silly. Grateful for advice.
      I know stalks grow fast and tall with watering, but then the flower grows too, which I don't want...
      Or is there nothing that can be done?
      Water a bit, but standing in the dark? - Good Advent!

    A very detailed and accurate instruction for forcing flower bulbs, however like many other videos on the subject we are advised to bring the water right up tp the bulb, but this can lead to a risk of rotting. If the water comes to just below the bulb the high humidity will initiate the roots which will then reach the water below

    • @livenfree
      @livenfree Год назад

      I purchased a hyacinth kit tractor supply this year and the instructions are exactly as you describe. Keep the water just below the bottom of the bulb without touching it and stick it in the refrigerator for 8 weeks. It's only been two weeks and the roots are starting to grow .
      I'm curious about her 3-week suggestion. I've never heard such a short time would work.

    How do I have them to bloom about the beginning of May?

  • @Medietos
    @Medietos Год назад

    Decorating the pot is the least issue, - provide the dates/times instead, please. When put in fridge to blossom in Advent/ Christmas? And what to do with 2 Amaryllis bulbs, of which one lost its leaves, one that is still full of green leaves? Neither has got much cold, except for open window at night since I took them in from the garden in October (Temp close to freezing point). I didn't find out until tonight, and so have done it wrongly. Is there any way they can still blossom? Or shall I put them in the cellar and get them out after Xmas? (The cellar is not colder than around 16 o Celsius) I hope you see this, and thank you in advance. Good Advent!

    Just want to give a ⚠️*WARNING* ⚠️ to anyone handling Hyacinth bulbs:
    ‼️*SOME PEOPLE ARE ALLERGIC*‼️
    I found this out the hard way 😳just by handling them in the bulb the way she does. They release a dust that causes intense, crazy making, rip your skin off kind of itching 😫😭and slight rash.
    WEAR GLOVES! And wash your clothes right away and shower because that dust gets everywhere! 😫 Also don’t get your face close the bag/bulbs.... 😳

  • @Sooper35
    @Sooper35 8 лет назад

    Will this work in tropical climates? I noticed you said not to put them by heaters. I'm guessing that the answer is no :( I really love tulips too bad we can't grow them here in Hawaii.

    • @ericeandco
      @ericeandco 7 лет назад

      The reason you don't want to put the bulbs or any plant by the heater is the heat comes out scorching hot sometimes and it burn the plant. The heater cooks the plant. A lot of plants aren't crazy about drafty spots either. You should be able to force the bulbs. But you will want them in cooler room. Even in New England, when the room warms up, the tulips die off pretty quick.
      You probably could plant them outdoors but it would require a lot of work with unpredictable results. www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/tulips/tulips-in-warm-climates.htm

    I have a question i have a Clivia Miniata i don't know if it's an amaryllis specie or not and it has a bulb and i guess like any plant with bulb needs a rest so i removed it today november 15 from the pot cut the root to let it to rest for about 2 months..
    I'm not sure if it's the right time to do it, it a 3 or 4 years old and i dont remember to bloom ever because never has put to a dormant stage, i kept it green indoor in winters. Will it bloom after the 2 months of rest when i put the bulb back in pot ?
    Thank you.
    (The bulb is big almost like your amaryllis bulb)
