Thanks for the review. TIP:I bought one of these and found it unreliable at first till I discovered that the supplied 3M tape has TWO removable covers to it. There is one for the protective cover of the self adhesive backing (obviously).. BUT also a thin film over the top of the reflective surface too! After removing THAT it worked as it should do. There are no references to the tape at all in the instructions.
Hi John, thanx a lot for the detailed product review. I was looking for a digital tachometer on Amazon, and there are lots, but this one was my favorite one. You helped me alot making the decision.
Hi John. Thanks for the learning video. Will this read spark pulse. Wanting an RPM to check the RPM on my lawnmower. This one looks photo laser only rather than read a pulse on a spark plug.
Not sure what solder irons have to do with tachometers; but yes, I've owned and used a Hakko 888D along with several Weller soldering stations at work.
@@Rchelicopterfun if you want you can buy a jbc station olready used în great condition at 245 dolars or you can buy a fx 951 already used for ebay at 165- 200 dolars .
@@andreiciora2765 Why would I waste my money on some used station or pay outrageous amounts of money as a hobbyist on overpriced stations when the T12 works a treat and is better than any soldering station I've used to date. No way.
I'm no expert, but the little I know about LED collimation is you lose a great deal of light output in the process - no? If so, a laser makes much more sense from an increased working distance standpoint along with competing against strong ambient light sources.
Yea theyll last for years as long as you throw those batteries it came with in the garbage because they’re the explody type and will leak acid all over the thing. They ate the screen up on mine and cant just replace those lcd’s.. they’re the pre polarized type that have certain designs on em ..

Another Phenomenal video John! A wealth of knowledge and information as always.
Much appreciated
Thank you John, for making and posting this video. (I love that you measured the mower shaft speed, as that was I was hoping to see. Thank you).
Glad you found the information useful.

This is an optical tach, not an ignition/spark tach.
You ever try a brand soldering iron for exemple hakko.

I really enjoyed this really informative video
Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
I'm surprised it's actually a laser diode and not only some collimated LED

@@Rchelicopterfun all you say is true. I was just surprised they didn't cheap out on it :-)
good job
Thank you - Cheers
What about Bluetooth mark in screen if you start
Unused symbol would be my best guess. No mention of it in the manual, and the only time it ever shows up is during the power digit test.
Why's your rc saying "shit is about to get real" ?

As shown in the video, mine didn't come with any batteries, I had to supply my own.
