    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On RUclips and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I have to say that this lesson was a light bulb moment for me. I did not realize I had the club so far inside or behind me. I played nine holes last week using the concept of the 45 degree position and my ball striking greatly improved. Distance increased as well as accuracy. No instructor I have seen teaches this simple concept. Thanks many times over Danny!

I'm brand new to your site, and I'm prepared to change my swing. I'm 79 years old, but in good shape. Yesterday I played and started to make changes to my swing. I didn't play well due to my mental and physical change, however I'm starting to hit several shot better than before. On the last two holes I put it all together onthe 2 par 4s and I reached the green in 2. First ever, thanks to you .it's just a matter of time to change my old swing to your new swing mentally,to the point it becomes habitual. I'm on my way.Thet swing motion you showed your Dad,has helped me greatly. So simplified.

I'm listed as a three when I'm on my game, but from time to time I get side tracked with things I think will help my swing but in fact do little except cause me frustration about why I'm not hitting it solidly. I can simply listen to mine and others swing sound to tell if they're a good player or not. The ball makes a hissing sound or sizzle sound off the face of the club when I'm compressing that shot. My point is that this clip is the best clip I ever watched that explains the release so easily and correctly and has me back on track once again compressing that ball. I appreciate the good work and nice explanation. Only golfers understand the beauty of hitting a shot where the ball explodes off the face like it's got another gear and hisses out of site and brings a smile to your heart. Not many in this world ever experience this it seems to me, but I absolutely love it..

I just wanted to let you know that this is the perfect video and if people listen and study what you’re saying their balls striking will get better through the bag. From wedge to driver even sand play.
For the first time ever I found the release. And all along I was told wrong. The thing is that unless the club is traveling on plane around your body like a 45 degree hollahoop. (On a perfect plane and arc around your body) unless it’s doing this then the club won’t naturally release. I did this today practiced It. Got a feel for It and I was stroking all my clubs so much better and EFFORTLESS It felt like. Just turn and as long as its on plane the club will do the work. Awesome explanation.

Danny I would like to thank you for a video you posted 2 years ago.
How to release the golf club. I watched it last night.
You talked about your dad and how he was confused as to when to start the release, as was I.
You explained about the 45 degree angle and your hips matching.
Well I tried it today and my irons were exploding off the club face.
I have suffered with slicing my driver for years.
Today 95% were line balls landing 240 yards.
Your video switched on a light bulb for me and I just want to say "thank you so much "
Maybe a remake of this would help more people.
    Kind regards Mike Crosbie.

It worked. 45 degree tip did it for me. First I did it with just the arms. Then I took it back up, held it, initiated the hip turn, the arms started to come down back into that 45 degree position and every ball flights went straight. It worked for Drivers, woods, and irons. THANK YOU SIR!

Played 18 holes today... my drives were amazing. Of course not every hole but 80 percents were straight and land within the fairway. My friends were shocked at the big improvement. Irons plays were also much better. I didn get the distant but they were straight toward the intended target. Woods were still hit and miss but I nailed two long par 3 straight as an arrow with 3 wood from the tee. Just didn' have the distant. I also had a sandie birdie. Danny I think this may be one of your best videos. It takes in so many important concepts in the golf swing. I believe that how the brain “sees” the swing determines what the golfer attempts in the move to the ball. Holding on to flawed concepts just leads to compensation and inconsistent strikes. I know I am guilty of that. You are a great help. Keep up the good work. Thanks!

  • @dseveno8254
    @dseveno8254 6 лет назад +14

Yep. This is a big one. People have been told for so long not to come over the top (which is of course good information) that they're overcompensating and coming into the ball on an inside plane that makes a hands-forward release impossible. I just learned this lesson last week (after having made this same mistake myself for 30+ years). Great lesson.
One additional point. You can also get stuck without coming in too inside if you do what I did for years (in addition to coming in too far from the inside) which is to start the downswing by firing the left hip massively leftward. There's a big difference between a "hip bump" to initiate the downswing, and just flat-out sliding of the lower body to the left. Killed my game for decades.

I'm a 2 handicap and thought I had a bunch of the swing figured out. But I had to watch this video several times and each time I got something new from it. BTW the way I get in the correct delivery position is I start the backswing by taking the clubhead straight back from the ball at the beginning. This works for me, I wonder if you would teach that or if it's wrong. I hit the ball dead straight most of the time, because having that 45* delivery angle seems to keep the face square through impact a long time. Also, I think one of the pearls in this video is where you say we want to swing down not around. You didn't use the word but I think this is why most don't get proper compression on the ball, losing distance @@DanielMaude

Very good information and helps me a lot as confirmation of what I am currently working on. I have improved a lot by getting the backswing feeling more out in front of my torso, which has helped me get in the right position to hit on the downswing. Before I was taking the club way to much around the body with no lift of the arms. Now I just think about lifting the arms in front of me and turning the shoulders. One other thing - I suffered (suffer) from flipping. Have done this all my life and I see it's quite common in people. I think you mentioned it... the release is natural... I now don't do anything with my wrists, I just let them react to the swing. It's my only swing thought - NO wrists, just let it happen.

This is Mike Malaska "over the top from the inside" ie dynamically the club head is coming over the top of the hands from the top of the downswing to impact, This explains how this happens beautifully if you are on plane and don't manipulate the club head unduly with the forearms but allow the momentum in the club head to work. Love it.

Great video Danny. I missed this one somehow when it came out. As you probably remember, I'm teaching my dad also, so we're on the same journey with that. You want him to do well so badly and hate to ever see him frustrated, so it's such a great thing to have RUclips to help out. Really, I came to understand a while back that the true key to having a great golf swing is intimately knowing it in your mind. I realized all of a sudden after being such a student of golf for so long that I have an immense bank of knowledge about it and that realization kind of caught me off guard, but was a very good thing! I mean, you'll never be able to do brain surgery unless you understand the brain. Golf is no different. I send my dad all of your videos so that I can further his knowledge and help him get better even if all he's doing is staring at his tablet. Cheers.

Best video ever seen on screen regarding that important part of the down swing from a "ballistic" point of view whereby the angle of 45 degrees gives the best result in terms of height and distance. A question: Does the release point to the initiation of the catapult momentum correspond with the lowest point of the radius of the down swing, whereby this lowest point is defined by the point on the target line pointed to by the sternum? Example: Iron 7 - Lowest point defined by the sternum shlightly behind the ball. Iron 4 - Lowest point defined by the sternum in relation to the stands approximately on top of the ball. Driver - Lowest point defined by the sternum behind the ball. Thanks for reply Danny.

Danny , I've been following your videos for a while , everything is so perfectly explained and I love the teaching , however when it came to the downswing , I felt like I was going to come over the top , I was so obsessed with trying to re route the arms on the downswing to a more inside path. This angle shows what I thought was coming over the top , isn't really coming over the top! I hope you can address this in a video as I'm sure this could help a lot of golfers who are messing around with the arms trying to "shallow" them out like I was.

I know, I should have mentioned this, the 45 degree position is just after the point where the club is parallel to the foot line

Danny, this one of my saved lessons for sure. Sometimes older golfers ( me ) have a little bit of a problem opening the hips to 45 degrees on the down swing. I’ve found that pre-setting my hips to an open stance helps me get through the ball. Is there a down side to pre-setting the hips to 45 degrees on the setup.

I also really like your video using the Pete Cowan technique to help feel the proper position at the top of the back swing. Cause and effect, so important to understand in golf and this video does it so well. Many videos talk about that release position, but few, if any, talk about the fact that if you are in the wrong position before the release, the proper release can not be achieved, excellent video, keep up the good work.

This is good info. The golfer doesn't release the club; the club releases, and if it's in the wrong place or attitude on the runway, impact will be poor to disastrous. That's when the golfer starts trying to manipulate release, which is in itself a big loss of power. It's a vicious circle until you get into the right position prior to release. It's far better to forget about release and focus on _swinging_ the club. Release will take care of itself.

Great video! So few people talk about the correct delivery of the club to the ball but this movement makes or breaks the shot.
What I have found most interesting is that this proper delivery motion takes care of the body weight shifting correctly to the left and the hips turning properly etc. You can just think of the one swing thought rather than many thoughts.
The player just needs to find the right feel for themselves that makes this delivery motion happen during the swing. Can you share the feelings that you particularly focus on as you start the downswing? I have found feeling like my right hand pushes downwards from the top seems to work for me.

You are an excellent instructor. You address cause & effect issues like no one else. Releasing the club "flat wristed" vs "rolling" the wrists has always befuddled me. You explain it well (as I understand it) as a result of one's swing plane. One problem I have is when my release is "flat wristed", I sometimes flip my wrists. It's impossible to flip my wrists when I'm rolling them. Any comments about this?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  6 лет назад

Eugene Spencer the flip of the wrists happens because you the grip end of the club works away from the body through impact as opposed to towards it

Another superb vidoe by Danny. Matches the video telling you to release the club beyond the ball. 45 degree match of the shaft and hips is very insightful Important to delay shoulder turn on downswing. Again Danny addresses the problem of not releasing the clubhead, a devastaitng error if you are on the pro tour.

Danny haven’t been on one of your videos for awhile. But I went through everything to fix a slice. I managed to turn it into a slight nice fade with everything. A bowed wrist, hitting inside of ball etc, but I’m sorry to say for me it’s been the release. And maybe I missed it or it’s supposed to be a known factor for the swing but none of teaching I’ve saw says anything about the release is what turns the ball over. I even tried to call myself out on this and was on the range just snapping things hooking it just to see. I was even setting clubface open at a 45 degree angle and was still snapping it over. Swear it’s the same for all us slicers we don’t know to release the club.
