Hey Danny, Read in one of your comments that you thought this video may be a little too long. Don't ever believe that! You explain everything thoroughly, and take the most important extra time to review what you have just explained. Your brilliant explanation is actually in laymen's terms for us that are somewhat golf-challenged. Please don't fix what ain't broke! Cheers, Danny!

Hey Danny! Over the years, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched this video. I’ve also conveyed this method to some of my better students. While teaching, the hardest concept to explain is the feeling of “spiraling” or “stair casing” the body during the backswing. It’s more of a feeling than a visual part of the swing. Alas, I’ve found an explanation that works to give the student the correct “coil” feel during the backswing.
At address, imagine there’s a lit cigarette under your trail shoe. BEFORE your backswing, you must extinguish that cigarette by twisting (or trying to rotate) your trail foot clockwise. Feel the spikes of your trail shoe in the ground as they hold your trail foot stationary. This action pre-loads the right leg and forces the body to correctly coil during the backswing. It also eliminates body sway, shortens the backswing, and eliminates “re-gripping” the club at the top.
Perhaps this mental image would be useful while passing along your brilliant catapult method to your students!
    Love the channel!
Thanks for taking the time, Danny!

The most important element of the catapult swing for me was relaxing the wrists in the downswing. As you suggest Danny it gives a feeling of letting go. Counter intuitively by giving up a sense of control as you swing down gives you more control in direction. Not using my wrists to try to steer the ball has really straightened my driving. Thanks for the tip Danny.

Hi Danny, Driving is worst part of my game but not today after watching this video. This video gave me a good understanding of how the club head speed is generated. I used to rush the down swing and resulted the poor direction. I practiced the swing using the catapult technique in front of the window and felt really comfortable with the swing and then went out to play 9 holes. Amazingly the first drive went about 270 yards almost 30 yards longer than use to be, also the ball landed in the centre of the fairway. 6 out of 7 drivings were long and straight. It is a great video and you are a great teacher. Thanks a lot and will follow your channel.

Your videos have drastically improved my stance, my distance, and my game in the short 1 1/2 weeks that’s I’ve watched and practiced. Today went to the driving range and worked on your video “iron swing and driver swing” my driver hits were straighter and further than they were last week, my iron swings were ball first then turf and they were further as well..thank you Danny for the simple, helpful videos you have released. Friday I’ll be working on chipping and pitching..

Yo Danny. I watched this lesson last night and swung a wedge a few times in my basement, I tried it on the 1st tee w/o any range time and drilled it right down the middle and followed it with a 160 yd 5i within 10' of the flag. I finished the front nine with a 38 and a total of 81 (2 strokes off my age) for my best score since my heart attack on Mar 1. I haven't been able to hit the ball this consistently long and straight for a couple of years. Unfortunately, I've been dealing with a Plantar Fascia issue and may have to call it quits for this season. Thanks for another great video and I can't wait to work on this on the range

Your takeaway from the ball and not moving the body off of the ball is very helpful and gives me a great perspective on the backswing and not pulling off the ball, just actually turning the body creates a more repetitious and balanced swing.

Danny, l got on it on my last round free of any mishits for the first time!!! Before l tended to sway from side-to -side, making me topping the ball with my driver, woods, and long irons 3-4 times a round let alone catapult my game which was embarrassing and disgusting in front of my playing buddies. Now l have learned to be more still and doing so no more mishits thanks to you! No other coaches could dig as dig as you can on this!

I have been using the catapult method with all of my clubs throughout the bag and I have had a HUGE jump in swing speed which naturally translates into more ball speed + distance. This method definitely has merit. Using leverage, load at the top, and maintaining the 3 balance points Danny method is crucial. It is not easy to master and takes practice to work through some of the load and timing elements.

I'm parked outside the Comanche Trail Golf Club in one of the finest little cities in all of Texas ... Amarillo (which means yellow in Spanish for those of us who didn't know, me included 😀) anxiously waiting for the gates to open so I can give the ol' catapult swing lesson a go...In my head, it seems like it makes the most sense for old geezer like me...Cork screw, light hands, club, navel, sternum, release etc...Ive been playing, no, I've been trying golf for a year now and the guys I've been watching on the Tube are awesome, but their philosophies or whatever one would call it, seem to be more fit for younger folks... New to the game 40+ year olds can't be expected to mimic a Dustic Johnson swing...There's just so much going on there that 80% of us will never be able to mirror, so those vids are not necessarily meant for 80+% of us... This is great stuff Danny, cheers 🍻...The hinge video and the catapult vids have me excited about today's range time. Thank you again. 🍻⛳

These instructional videos are excellent, straightforward, examples of swinging along with relevant verbiage. I have watched most of them by Mr Maude, since I have started to practice golf again after not swinging a club nor playing for about 45 years! Very helpful. I have done the same for tennis practice where I hit balls launched by a tennis-ball-launching machine. In that and this case I video-record my swings in both sports, so that I can compare to swings executed by professional players.

@@DanielMaude I will go out to the driving range shortly. I video-recorded myself a day or so ago and was positively surprised at my swing, which is good in the recording at least, although I hit the ball poorly on average. I will post any materially positive progress on my personal website, as I do for my tennis strokes, e.g. serve, forehand, top-spin one-handed backhand, backhand slice, etc. Where are your videos recorded? Yes, I suspect that I will start to hit the ball well within a few more practice sessions based on your "lessons".

Quality Danny ... keep up the great work !!!
With my golfing physio clients I get them to realise the potential of their Ribcage as the leading rotating part of their body and their swing ...
I am NO golfing pro so I relate my physio knowledge to the basics of their swing ...
I get them to imagine the ribcage is like the classic SLINKY toy ... every level of the ribcage (one rib across to the opposite one at the same level) is effectively a ring ... the ribcage is therefore a series of stacked rings ... or as I prefer ... A SPINAL SPRING !!!
I ask them to lift and stretch up their SPINAL SPRING before compressing it back down again ...
To achieve this ... most folk have to work on releasing everything around the SPINAL SPRING that causes it to stick and close down ...
Usually those overactive shoulder girdles and sticky shoulder blades is a great place to start...
Love your analogies 👌🏻 ... will continue to point clients your way ...
    Thank you 👏🏻

Hello Mr. Danny, thanks for the wonderful video and great tips. Loving the sound of pure strikes. Your swing looks great. It also looks like your golf swing is easier on the body ie; knees, hips, back and shoulders. It just makes sense that us older guys would benefit from getting rid of as much sway as possible in our swing. Man I wish I had this information when I was younger. Listening to your lessons, there seems to be a big difference between "smart torque" and "hard torque". Hard torque is what i've been using all my golfing career and it has reeked some havoc on my joints over the years. If I had used "smart torque" which is the swing you promote or have, my joints would be in better shape. It might be time for yet another swing change. hahahaha....thanks again and many thanks for the videos, they are awesome...

as always very informative . my first priority is to accurate in my drives . I am gaining confidence in that area by being not to fast in my down swing . I was swinging a Rouge driver until it got cracked and went out an bought the Epic Flash which it appears you used in this video . Just that club alone has made me hit drives at least 20 yards further . Then I was used this concept and driven it at least 40 yards further . . They key in my opinion is to keep arms straight , proper hip action , plant and drive left foot and follow thru . . It has helped me tremendously . the club head speed will come later

This is a brilliant clip and has improved my driving very noticeably. My query is I can't make sense of my fairway woods even after watching your recent clip now I'm thinking of forgetting angles, planes etc and just concentrate on rotating around the axis by joining up your dots and see if that sorts the problem out. One thing I have noticed if you rotate strictly on axis it does tend to stop you over hitting hence where the away comes from.
