These guys were the first to take the piss out of the antique roadshow it was taboo Television at the time late on Sunday night after the kids have gone to bed
but that was way back in the last century.
I can still hear my Mum and Dad pissing themselves with laughter now As I tried to get some sleep Ready for school the next morning

I remember one where the guy come on with chinese plates expecting something special. 2 years old, worth $5. Went off in a huff. And an old woman with her uncles gold paint. The female show host was the valuer. The 2 idiots sat there and she quoted the price OF PURE GOLD BULLION of the same size (I used to buy a LOT of silver bullion and some gold). It was JUST paint and on testing it burnt up like paint does.

I love in old tv comedy programs recorded in front of a live audience the audience were genuinely laughing and clapping and the performers often had to wait for the audience to stop laughing and cheering before they could deliver the next line, often obviously trying not to laugh themselves.

I remember someone finding an ancient cup at a dig site (found while construction work was going on) and kept hold of it for decades thinking it was worth £thousands. He took it to a roadshow to be told it was worth at best £500, I think he did the same as this sketch.

Brother bought an oil painting at a boot sale about 25 years ago, did some research and concluded it was genuine and worth a huge amount of money. Reasoned it had to be stolen and so put it in the attic and its been there ever since.

They are cleverly mocking the real reason anyone watches the Antiques Roadshow, the audience just wants to know how much everything is worth in cash.

It's amusing not laugh out loud comedy. It's more observational comedy because this how people really think who go on it. But it's far funnier than the stuff on tv now
