Gotta be one of the very best vids here👍🏻all that data!!! Im UK, but I love this US track! You are right in the mix with some top riders. We get BSB riders in Advanced groups and altho I'm hitting my markers and feel I'm very safe, I'd love to step into Advanced group just so I can say I'm in with the big boys, but don't want to be getting in their way and spoiling their laps. Again awesome data, riding and video editing with the many different angles.👍🏻

Thank you so much my brother across the pond! I loved riding in Advanced, the intensity and no rules on passing is incredible. I know it's going to force me to get quicker just riding with them. I learned a lot from this weekend and going through the footage. I can already see huge portions where I could possibly make up seconds on my lap. Sadly had to leave by session 3 because of my throttle getting stuck open. My next day is June 2nd. Let me know if you start doing any videos of your rides or drives!

The first reason I checked out this video is because you and I have the same Rev'It jacket (Quantum) 😋🤟.
I see you may have had the same problem I did with not finding the Rev'It track pants to match (im 6'3" so everywhere I tried to find the Rev'It leather pants to match, i learned they didnt make my size (52EU "long").
It sucks that Rev'It didn't make the Quantum jacket in any sizes larger than a 46US/56EU too. I wanted to buy a 48US/58EU, but had to settle for a 46US.
I love the video setup you are using to make these track videos. The helmet view allows us to see when and where you are turning you head, and where your vision is directed too. Cool video and you dang sure ride track way better than I can! Good luck on your track day journey's mate. Cheers 🍻!

The set-up is awesome and worth the extra work of putting it all together if you ride track. I hope I can, one day, get to that level too.

As a former expert class CCS and Formula USA racer you can’t possibly understand the speed difference between pilot, semi pro, satellite, and full factory. It is mind boggling. The semi pro guy will pass you like nothing, the satellite guy will then blow past the 2 of you like nothing, and then the factory guy will go past like everyone but the better satellite guys are standing still. Usually while coming up on a corner you are asking yourself what speed is reasonable to make it in 🤣

Only drawback is the battery life is rather short when it's out of its pod, 40 minutes on a good day, but sometimes it ran out as low as 25min on what I thought was a full charge so just barely long enough to last a full session at the track. He was more concerned about whether I'd be freaked out by the close proximity passing and whatnot. I love it personally. But I was not riding at my full potential this first day, it was also a rather aggressive Advanced group because of the MA riders practicing for the races that just happened a week or so ago.

The throttle position is recorded with Dynojet's POD-300 which piggybacks off the power commander V. It's also how I pull my RPM, and gear indicator. Initially, Telemetry Overlay was not compatible with my Dynojet telemetry from the bike so I had to buy RaceRender, but that was not compatible with my camera telemetry which had GPS/accelerometer data for the lean angle and lap times. I was forced to use both. Since then, I've worked with the developer of TO who has since added support for Dynojet so it now works on both and I've also bought a Racebox Mini S which gives me CSV logs that also work on both. Technically, I could get by just using TO but I really like the custom gauge I made in RR for my motorcycle data. I got it all set up in a template so I just drag/drop and sync then export. It doesn't take very long so I just do it the same way. I am considering doing a video showing how I put everything together.

Ah and another thip: when you try to follow riders in front of you you tend to copy their movements in the moment they are doing them, but because you enter the corner 20 meters behind them you enter the corner too early and as a result run wide often... Keep it up ✌🏻

hahah I'm a bit disturbed as well as I don't believe my monitor is that inaccurate. However, it's not just the sheer exercise of maneuvering a motorcycle at speed around a track (because it is very physically demanding), it's also the adrenaline rush, excitement, and this being my first day in the Advanced class, stressed tf out cause people were passing me left and right which is jarring to say the least. Also, I had a very near accident on lap 3 which definitely added to that as well haha

I remember watching a clip from 2021 US GP Q2 of Jorge Martin reaching 200 bpm heart rate when following Marquez. So yeah riding motorcycle at limit can be very physically demanding

Riding a motorcycle fast is a VERY physically demanding thing. I consider myself "in shape" as I lift and run 4/5 days a week. At the end of a 15 minute session on track, I am breathing hard trying to catch my breath.
Two days of back to back track feels like a week of non stop full body workouts afterwards. You're entire body is sore. It's pretty ridiculous.

@@alixvandurand I got bumped up into the advanced class (3 classes but I would try to take trackdays that only had 2) just once in my life, and got spooked by the close passes. But outside of that and my first trackday, I found riding a bike around a track to be quite meditative and not physically strenuous. It took me a long time to get out of beginner trackdays, though.
However, I did read and reread Keith Code's books (and video) about the importance of being completely relaxed through the turns, and being extremely smooth and in control. On the other hand, I only ran 600cc bikes.

You missed more apexes than you hit and missed the one that you spun up the rear on by a mile...track days don't charge extra to hit apexes. Hit your apex, use less lean, don't spin up the rear as much...

@@alixvandurand haven't been there in several years as it's over 800 miles one way, but was running 32's on my R6 when I was there for the WERA GNF and snagged a few #1 plates. I can say I wasn't leaving that much pavement between my tires and the apexes when running those 32's.

@@jaottobotto I think I'm a little wary of hitting my knee on the curbing, not sure how it would go so I tend to stay a little farther away if I'm putting the knee down, when you're hitting the apexes are you keeping it tucked? Also how do you use less lean, by leaning body more?

    • @jaottobotto
      @jaottobotto Месяц назад +1

@@alixvandurand the oldest suit I currently have is about 6 years old. I bought it new, and am still using the knee pucks it came with. Absolutely tuck the knee and the knee down is nothing more than a reference of how far you're leaned over. We all went through the phase of burning up knee pucks because it was new to us, but it doesn't help your riding any. When you miss your apex, you make the track skinnier. For easy math, if Barber was 50' wide and you missed your apex by 10', the straight away is now 40' wide. If I hit the apex (knee over curbing), that means I have to lean the bike that much less than you to make the same corner. Additionally, I can get on the gas sooner and harder because I can begin to stand the bike up on acceleration, as I have 10 more feet of track to get on the gas on exit. Since you missed your apex, you have to wait to finish the corner, THEN stand the bike up. Factor in the lost drive from missing the apex over 15 turns, and that's how you go from running 43's to 39s/40s without taking anymore risk.
Worn tires is worn tires, not arguing that. What I'm saying is that if you had hit your apex, you would have had to use less lean angle to make the corner.

@@jaottobotto this makes so much sense. I'm still not 100% on where the bike's at when leaned over so I do hit the knee (although I tend to raise it up just after to save the pad) but when going over the curbing I'm afraid to hit the curbing with it cause idk how it will react haha I will definitely try to apex closer next time round. Thank you for this very detailed comment!

I was very wary about my tires so I was holding back a bit that day and yes, I was very nervous about the whole thing being the first time in this group but I'll be going back on fresh rubber June 2nd. We'll see how it goes. If I have too much trouble keeping up with the pace, I'll go back down to intermediate until I get my laps down into the 1:30s. As far as my heart rate, to be honest I'm not sure it's entirely accurate, but I feel great and have no discomfort or pain in my chest after the session.
