Rift is a Max for Live additive synthesizer. Featuring custom configurable oscillators, frequency and amplitude modifiers, and ample modulation sources, Rift is a powerhouse synthesizer for all your timbral needs.
super impressive work, particularly the UI. I know it's mainly eye-candy but it really helps the experience IMO. 💛
i have my volume muted rn. i read an article on this, came here, saw a spectral slider with a "fifths" option, and i already know i will be buying this soon. i don't even care how it sounds.
we love to see a new rainbow circuit
i didnt realize it was new rainbow circuit day
LET'S FUCKING GO WE LIVE FOR ADDITIVE
😤😤😤😤😤😤
Any way to manipulate phase of the partials?
Not at the moment. Perhaps a future option for sure!
@@rainbowcircuit I started making an additive synth almost purely for this reason. I think theres a lot we could unlock by manipulating phase of partials carefully, not many synths do it, it’s also going to change things that happen down the line like wave-folders.
Your UI’s are beautiful. If you need to throw any ideas around about DSP, feel free to get in touch. I make devices under the guise of GMaudio and have more things lurking in development than I can put into products lol so I may have little bits that might be helpful that I can share. 🤘🏼
@@RobertKgma oh amazing, I’ve used your clippers for a good bit, really wonderful stuff! Let’s do get in touch. Do you wanna shoot me an email at hey@rainbowcircuit.co?
i wonder how this compares over to Razor by Native Instruments!
Razor (alongside AIR Loom and Harmor) was a big inspiration in the development of Rift! Rift hopefully comes across a bit more compact and approachable for those new to additive synthesis!
@@rainbowcircuit amazing, love to hear that!
From this demo, I thought Razor was beefier and warmer
sounds cool. do you consider releasing some of your work as vst plugins at some point?
Absolutely, the long term goal continues to be pushing into the VST/AU territory. Most of the rainbow circuit devices of the last half a year has been written pretty explicitly in C, and hopefully it'll serve as a primer for the real C++/JUCE development workflow in the near future!
@@rainbowcircuit don't be scared. C++ is quite easy when you actually make something fun with it
How does this compare to NI's Razor?
Using CORDIC? Or did ya build this in RNBO more efficiently as opposed to gen?
This is built in gen~, mostly in codebox. The oscillator is basically a wavetable of sorts, with some small externals here and there!
Is it Push Standalone compatible?
Rift isn’t compatible with standalone, since there some Max eternals being used in the device. Abletons support for externals may change in the future!
Thanks for the reply
@@breslin44 of course, it however is compatible with wired push controller configuration!
wish i had ableton :'((((
@@tothejazz4828 come join the club 🙂↔️
Is there a possibility of MPE?
Absolutely. Hopefully folks will find life in Rift, and can justify further development!
@@rainbowcircuit I plan on buying and getting into so I really hope it becomes MPE compatible. That would really make it special 😉
@@douglashill3008 woo hoo! I guess MPE does have to be on the docket then!
@@rainbowcircuit bought, can't wait to dig in!
