Since Fallout 2 was a bit rushed, a lot of quests and endings were omitted from the game. But a restoration patch, made by the fallout community, restores all this lost content. One of the endings include the deathclaws' survival, and how they thrived and how they eventually started to slowly emigrate into the surrounding lands, brining their peaceful message and way of life to the wastes. Fallout 2 Restoration Mod, pure awesomeness :P
Imagine walking through a desolate wasteland instead you see a deathclaw glaring at you from a far and start running towards you, knowing your fate have been sealed you run for your life like there's no tomorrow. But eventually it catch up and you ran out of breath. You lie down from sheer exhaustion but you open your eyes to see the death claw walking towards you and yourself ready die from this harsh world. But then this horrifying abomination talks to you and greets you like you weren't running from death itself 😐.
This just makes me miserable. I don't know why exactly, but I went to every length possible to make sure these deathclaws would survive - I even murdered that guy Matt in cold blood so he wouldn't harm them again. And at the end of my game, it actually said that the deathclaws expanded peacefully thanks to my aid - this is with the restoration mod. If them being slaughtered is supposed to be canon, they could have spared me the hope and just had them be dead by the time I got there, rather than letting me help them as much as I did. But according to current lore, whether the deathclaws survived is unknown, as they go back and forth on what really happened. Confusing and annoying. If I can help them, I should be able to save them. That's what you can do in Fallout 2: almost anything within reason.
Well that depends on whether you consider them the same species. I don't, otherwise I'd actually have a negative reaction to slaughtering the hostile ones like I inevitably do.
+Jesse Scaduto Uh you do realise that these intelligent deathclaws, aka Goris, is exactly that? Have you even played Fallout 2? Goris is a deathclaw companion...
+Matthew Hasemore Hey I know it's been a while but how exactly do you save them with the restoration mod? I just downloaded it for the first time and I'm coming across a lot of conflicting information. Some people say you just need to kill the doctor before a set time limit, others say you need to outright blow the oil rig. Problem is I like to play with Goris as my companion so if it's the later... well you see the problem.
Actually, I don't really know what the problem is if you blow the oil rig. Spoilers, but I didn't kill the doctor; I convinced him to help me, then I blew up the oil rig. I didn't have Goris with me, so I don't know how that affects their good ending. Why exactly is blowing the oil rig a problem if you bring Goris with you?
IS NOBODY GOING TO TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT A DEATHCLAW WAS PUNCHED IN HALF? Seriously, if Frank survived till the recent fallout games, he would put all antagonists to shame.
Horrigan was no fucking joke, for real. Most Fallout bosses (especially the recent ones) are mostly just regular dudes using regular gear or plot devices you could bypass with some clever speechcraft or science or stealth. Horrigan was so insanely overpowered that even if you were as min-maxed as you could possibly be he STILL physically outclassed you to a ridiculous degree.
The Master was pretty powerful. Not done justice in-game I think. But I'd like to see how benny or shawn fare against this goddamned guy. He could take out the institute no problem, I'd reckon.

Sometimes you gotta ask yourself. HOW IN THE BLOODY WASTELAND CAN SOMEONE LIKE A DAMN TRIBAL, BEST A CYBERNETIC SUPER MUTANT WITH THE BEST POWER ARMOR? HOW THE HELL? AND LET'S NOT FORGET HE CAN RIP DEATHCLAW'S IN HALF WITH NO SWEAT WHATSOEVER. What I'm trying to say is, The Chosen One truly is "The Chosen One".
Trying to fight Frank Horrigan on your own is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to pull off due to his 999 hp and his 10 in S.P.E.C.I.A.L (Don't forget he comes with a minigun). If you've convinced the squad of enclave soldiers to help you and set the turrets in the room to fire at Horrigan, then it becomes easier and probably what most people did to beat Frank. Pretty sure they didn't expect you to beat a giant block of stats by just brute forcing your way through him by yourself. So being defeated by a tribal and a squad of enclave soldiers and turrets is not a humiliating way to die as you think.
