- During his acting career, Dan Duryea was almost always being typecast as a bad guy. The producers of Suspense had no intention of changing his image! So in this story, just one of the many dirty things he does is to set up his wife to take the rap for a murder he committed. He did it gleefully, too! Uploaded with sound quality that's at least fairly decent
. . . Which means it still sounds better than older uploads on other channels.

Hey, Charlie~~~How many Dan D. episodes were there? He's ~always~ been the most gleeful, avaricious villain, movies ~and~ radio!
hippiekarl7 I think three off hand. Maybe four. Just search his name and Suspense and they'll come up on my channel. Someday, I'll combine his into a playlist. Sorry for late response. I'm not getting any notifications for listener comments. Yootoob is a pain at times. I have to click on each upload to check. It's a bit too many. Now go smoke an Alpine, or L&M today! You'll be glad you did!
Howard Duff's voice is inimical...........he was always GREAT
Duff shows up in a number of episodes - he was good friends with producer/director/actor/creator Elliott Lewis
"She was just another dame."
Holy Underwear, Batman ! Love these programs from the "Golden Age of Radio" ! This was one of the best ! And the sponsor ("Roma Wines") was based right here in Central California ! Small world, eh ? THANX so much for uploading this bodacious "blast from the past" ! :-)
And for only pennies a glass! Like most of Autolite's car makers, Roma wines has disappeared. Is another wine maker using the fields and winery? Thanks for your comments! - Charlie
@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered Well, Charlie, from what I can gather from online articles, the Cella Brothers bought a winery in in 1915 Lodi (in the northern part of Calif's Central Valley) and moved most of the operations later to Fresno (in the middle part of the Valley). In '42 they sold it to Schenley Industries of New York. That company in ''70 sold it to Guild Wineries. They changed the label name from Roma to "Cribari & Sons". Later it was sold to Gallo, which is the biggest producer of wines not only here in Calif but in the whole nation. Part of the Roma operations are still operating in various parts of the Valley, but of course now being owned by Gallo. What a history !!
@@jubalcalif9100 If I recall correctly, Shenley had ties to organized crime! Thanks for the info. I've never looked into Roma wines history. I'm very familiar with the history of Autolite's history, being a "car guy."
@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered Ties to organized crime ? Really ? Heavens to Vito Corleone ! Had no idea ! As for me, not being a car guy, I never new much about Autolite. But have heard of the company, of course. One of the biggies ! Thanx again so much for your uploads and your comments ! Hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead, my friend ! :-)
Hey. Because of that malicious twang in his voice it never left that he WAS the murderer. The blatant malicious ideas so planned out about how to kill and look like an accident! He just knits these things up and No one will know is really ,really kept after the biggest...How did he come up with push him out the window?!
Star on the rise before Sam Spade, slimy Howard Duff in great support to the main creep Dan Duryea...
Keith Brown Duryea's specialty was playing a hateful character. Duff shows up now and then in Suspense episodes, often uncredited. He was pals with Elliott Lewis.
@@SuspenseESCAPEremastered Shortly after Elliott was drafted into the Infantry, his pal, Duff, who'd been in the Army for a while, phoned him with "advice from a veteran recruit", on an episode of Ginny Simms' show. Sadly, no recording exists of it.
The basic training phase of Elliott's Infantry career resulted in his being invalided out due to injuries, surgeries, jaundice, and the rapid loss of 40 lbs. After his second medical furlough, he was re-assigned to the AFRS, which is where he should have been assigned in the first place.
@@OofusTwillip It was Lewis and Duff that had the idea of recording radio shows for the AFRS. If if wasn't for them, we may not have nearly as many classic radio shows to enjoy. I'm always amazed at Lewis' accomplishments.
I don't think Roma wines isn't around unless it's under a different name. I may need some after this story ! 😁👍. Never mind I see someone else mentioned that it is owned by Gallo now !,
You can still buy Autolite spark plugs, even though the original company has been sold several times. Also, because so many classic cars came equipped with Autolite electrical components, many reproductions are made today (like the Sta-Ful battery)
Actually, it was his ~boss's~ wife; not his own (she just thought he was going to run off with her).....
Hmmm is it that 4thousand 43 listeners had parents who did not teach them a simple thanksalot.....??
Thank goodness for Roma Wines, and Paliament Cigarettes.
Alpine and AutoLite........
Craig Dallas Light up, drink up, and drive!
Used to be we were dames, broads, tomatoes, babes......haha. Nowadays it's just ms.....eh
I think girl or lady is still nice! No political correctness on MY channel!
