The plastic locks end up with shackles that claim to be pointlessly hardened because they have shackles [marked hardened but that aren't] normally used in Chinese brass locks. The second plastic practice disc pack seems to use an ABUS key blank.
I have to say as always you're top notch, both in timing as I have some deal's on the way to venture into and also because your content is AMAZING. Thanks Ash for all your sharing
Having the key and/or having first gutted the lock would be a requirement, though, in order to know what you're dealing with? Or could you just "feel" your way through the discs first to find one that you can't turn clockwise beyond a certain point, and tension off that, rather than analyse the key bitting first? As you can tell from my comment, I'm only just starting to learn about disc detainer locks. :) Great video - thanks.
The key helps for sure, though you might consider that cheating, or at least not the purest form of picking. Zero discs are easy to find though as it’s the ones where the pick tip has travelled the furthest rotation when it’s in a gate
In theory one could be made with a counter rotating spring, bringing one or more discs back to the zero position, but a false or true gate and rotational tension would probably negate the spring's effect.
90% rear tension, so if you have a rear tensioning tool, it’s likely to work. Many will top tension, and you can find out by tensioning off disc 1 and seeing if any of the other discs bind, if they do, you can top tension
Great video! I think the manufacturers could easily avoid this kinds of attacks by never having the zero cut at the front and using slightly larger diameter front spinning disc. That would require the attacker to set the front disc first or it will keep sidebar so high that other disks cannot touch the sidebar. (Basically force the binding order to the spinning first disc but put the first disc in non-zero orientation always.) In practice this could be done by having two gates in the first disc separated 180 degrees and having the diameter of that disc slightly larger than the other discs. The plug should also have slightly diameter for the first disc because otherwise rest of the discs would have just worse tolerance and you could use the pick to push the disc towards the sidebar to feel it even with incorrect first disc orientation.
So in short, if I can get feedback when tensioning from the front, I can pick the lock, either directly or in tensioning from a 0 cut disk at the end. If I can’t get feedback, I am screwed.
Hey LN this isn’t related to this vid but I tried lock picking the iseo f6 extra (you made a vid a year ago) and mange to get it, except it did a 180 degree rotation, so it upside down now and it stuck, I can’t get it to unlock and also the key won’t fit in, not too sure what happed and he how to fix it
I hope you enjoy this explanation of some more advanced disc detainer Lock picking techniques; I wanted to capture them in a single video 😃👍🔐
Great video 👍
Very important information about that tool and about picking of disc's locks!!!!
Thank you for your time and work 👍
Good luck LN !!!!!
Thank you Ash. This is probably the Best explanation with visual aids that I've seen concerning this subject. Very very well done.
Thanks 🙏
Really appreciate the detail that went into this, I haven't tackled DD yet, but this was a big help.
Thanks 🙏
Wow! I think you showed me what I was doing wrong. You rocks!
Thanks LN! this technique is really difficult to verbalize clearly. You did a great job. Really makes sense. Thanks again!
Thanks
Just got sliver bullet. I NEEDED HELP.😆. Thanks my prayers have been answered. 👍
Awesome!
You did so well in explaining the different techniques on tensioning a DD core. Fantastic thank you.
Thanks 🙏
Excellent.
Good version about disk's cylinders and tolls . Full information.
Thx Master 👍🔓🌐
Fantastic video, loads of great tips & techniques to help anyone that really wants to enjoy picking these awesome locks. 👍
Have a great week.
Thanks Daz, you too mate!
Excellent video, thanks. This has helped me a lot!
Awesome
Excellent! I've never seen a vid where someone explains how the key is cut and operates! Inspiring to a green pea like myself! Thank you sir!
Thanks 🙏
very cool Ash my friend great video👊😎🇬🇧😊👍
Thank you Leon!
Thank you for your excellent explanation of what's going on in these picking videos with the sparrows pick
Thanks 🙏
Really great info! (not the first time I needed help with guiding "the tip" in lol) - All joking aside; really well done!
Lol thanks
Great video and great explanation of the lock. Thank you. 👍🇨🇦
Thanks 🙏
Great video !!
Thanks.
Thanks 🙏

It is an Abus
Now I have a so much better understanding, thanks Ash also have a great one my friend.
Thanks 🙏

Thank you ☺️
Superb Explanation -- very clear; well "illustrated" and accomplished -- Thanks for sharing
Thanks 🙏
Thanks, LN!!!
Thanks 🙏
Awesome video. So very well done, and super clear explanation. Now, when will Sparrow restock that pick???
Soon I hope

@@LockNoob Thank you :)
Great video with some great tips!! Are any of the disc detainer locks spring tensioned?
That’s a good question. I have never come across one so if they exist, they must be rare. I wonder why 🤷♂️

Im curious how to decipher a zero cut when you DONT have the key

So if you dont have the key how would you figure out which disk to tension off of?
Do you have a discord server? Would be great to have lockpickers sharing ideas much easier with better community interaction.
I don’t, but I’m on the UK Locksport Forum

Pretty much
Are there any other way to pick lock a dd padlock
You can do it with 2 wires
Thank you I will try it
Can you make a video?
How much is every single lock pick kits that u have?
Too much lol

Are the driver pins in the keyway? Can you push them all back?
