    The plastic locks end up with shackles that claim to be pointlessly hardened because they have shackles [marked hardened but that aren't] normally used in Chinese brass locks. The second plastic practice disc pack seems to use an ABUS key blank.

    Having the key and/or having first gutted the lock would be a requirement, though, in order to know what you're dealing with? Or could you just "feel" your way through the discs first to find one that you can't turn clockwise beyond a certain point, and tension off that, rather than analyse the key bitting first? As you can tell from my comment, I'm only just starting to learn about disc detainer locks. :) Great video - thanks.

      The key helps for sure, though you might consider that cheating, or at least not the purest form of picking. Zero discs are easy to find though as it’s the ones where the pick tip has travelled the furthest rotation when it’s in a gate

    Great video with some great tips!! Are any of the disc detainer locks spring tensioned?

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  4 года назад +1

      That’s a good question. I have never come across one so if they exist, they must be rare. I wonder why 🤷‍♂️

    • @N0B0DY_SP3C14L
      @N0B0DY_SP3C14L 2 года назад

      In theory one could be made with a counter rotating spring, bringing one or more discs back to the zero position, but a false or true gate and rotational tension would probably negate the spring's effect.

    Im curious how to decipher a zero cut when you DONT have the key

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  2 года назад

      90% rear tension, so if you have a rear tensioning tool, it’s likely to work. Many will top tension, and you can find out by tensioning off disc 1 and seeing if any of the other discs bind, if they do, you can top tension

  • @MikkoRantalainen

    Great video! I think the manufacturers could easily avoid this kinds of attacks by never having the zero cut at the front and using slightly larger diameter front spinning disc. That would require the attacker to set the front disc first or it will keep sidebar so high that other disks cannot touch the sidebar. (Basically force the binding order to the spinning first disc but put the first disc in non-zero orientation always.)
    In practice this could be done by having two gates in the first disc separated 180 degrees and having the diameter of that disc slightly larger than the other discs. The plug should also have slightly diameter for the first disc because otherwise rest of the discs would have just worse tolerance and you could use the pick to push the disc towards the sidebar to feel it even with incorrect first disc orientation.

    So if you dont have the key how would you figure out which disk to tension off of?

  • @sovietrussia3632

    Do you have a discord server? Would be great to have lockpickers sharing ideas much easier with better community interaction.

      I don’t, but I’m on the UK Locksport Forum

  • @yom73
    @yom73 4 года назад +1

    So in short, if I can get feedback when tensioning from the front, I can pick the lock, either directly or in tensioning from a 0 cut disk at the end. If I can’t get feedback, I am screwed.

    Hey LN this isn’t related to this vid but I tried lock picking the iseo f6 extra (you made a vid a year ago) and mange to get it, except it did a 180 degree rotation, so it upside down now and it stuck, I can’t get it to unlock and also the key won’t fit in, not too sure what happed and he how to fix it

      Are the driver pins in the keyway? Can you push them all back?
