- Weather Tech Rain Guard install on my 2014 Fj Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition
This is an affordable mod for any FJ Cruiser owner! This is the first mod of many that I plan to do to my "new to me" FJ Cruiser. Currently I am in the process of turning my fairly stock FJ into an Overland Rig. Let me know if you have any suggestions or modifications you'd like me to install!

These are a must in Oregon where it rains 9 months out of the year.
nathan koroush I totally agree!
By the way if your roof rack makes noise wrap front crossbar with bungi cord and I wraped it with para cord ...quieted it down drastically.
Some other super easy mod I did was change out mirror lights. Super simple cheap mod. Good luck
Thanks for the tips! I have a few new videos coming soon and one of them was swapping out the mirror lights, also got a new roof rack
Ready for some new videos!!
Just like he said be careful mine cracked on the back flat part when the window went up not sure why looks like jagged shark teeth now but still works and went in
Nice TTUE!
Untamed Motors thank you!!
You got the good ones. The ones that go outside suck.
I have had the outside ones on previous vehicles. Definitely prefer the in-channel ones!
My driver's side one blew out the door and hooked around my mirror while I was driving along. The factory sent me some double sided sticky tape to secure it in place, making it a much more difficult of a task to install. I like them though, once they are secure. I hope yours stay tight! Thanks for the video!
Wow that’s crazy! I haven’t had any issues with mine. Might have to add some double sided tape just in case, sooner than later
My first mod was cutting the wire that makes the annoying beep every time you open hour door.
markhrabe that’s a great first mod!
Where is this wire I wouldn't mind doing a ding delete
on my 7th fj its a funny story but yep 7..Get the bent side mirrors that take away the blind spots or atleast the little round stickon for side mirrors!!! the 6x9 in the door mod is the best bang for buck every time, building a nice shelf across the back between wheel well and factory sub is cheap and nice for storage....other than that just use it dont let it become another parkling lot accessory queen! Lets see you do some strecting of those 5100s its a trail team for a reason, maybe a set of sliders and raised muffler is all you really are gonna want for now. Very sweet truck!
Ryan Rye wow 7?! I had a hard enough time finding this vehicle! Not to many fj for sale in my area. I picked up the stick on blind spot mirrors. I’m coming from a camaro so the lack of visibility isn’t that big of deal too me as the fj has more visibility then I’ve been used to for some time! I’ll have to look into the door mod! I just picked up a couple of arb drawers which I will be installing hopefully this weekend. Have yet to really flex her out but plan too. The trail teams do have the Toyota sliders but not sure how sturdy they actually are.
Thank you for all the advice! Keep on cruisin’
Hey thx for making the video. What you think after owning it for a year now? I heard the ones that slides in the window channel they scratch the windows after sometime!
Jamal Khaffaf still really enjoy them with no regrets! Haven’t had any issues with window scratching but I am pretty diligent about. Cleaning the vehicle after off-road trips
Lewis Carol Hernandez David Jackson Michelle
Did you tuck the front edge completely into the window weatherstrip or try and slip between the weatherstrip and the window frame like the instructions say?
Between the weatherstripping and frame. I recently installed some double sided tape to further secure the rain guards.
Song is fire
my 1st mod was removing the roof lights.
mine was brush guard and rims
I mean 30 seconds for each side right 😂
Thank you. I just ordered mine. How is yours holding up? I’ve read some reviews that it easily come off while driving.
JB DLR they are still going strong. The longer they are in, eventually they do start to get loose. I wound up pulling them out and putting some clear double sided tape on the rain guard that goes into the window channel. Haven’t had any issues with that!
Whats the point of the visoers?
Roster24 controls the airflow coming into the cab, allows you to have the windows cracked/open when it’s raining out without water coming in the cab, and lastly aesthetics.
@@MartiArtisan gotcha, thanks.
Did these help with wind noise on the highway?
Yes it did!
@@MartiArtisan ordered lol
How has the fj windshield been. I’ve heard it’s one of there main issues and it’s the one thing making me skeptical about getting one.
I haven’t had any issues with it so far. Due to the design it is very susceptible to cracking from rock chips.
Had my fj for 11 years never even one issue.
@@MrGunnerru that’s awesome! Hope to have mine for a lifetime!
Don’t hesitate man. Haven’t had problems with the windshield either.
In most scenarios, FJ windshield get cracked a lot because of following distance on interstate. Lol
I’ve had mine 7 yrs original windshield since I’ve had it. Wife drove it for a yr and went through 2 windshields. That’s my observations anyways.
Solid axle swap!
John Harvey I would love to do that someday!
I also would like to have independent suspensions in the rear!
If I wanted to just install these each night for ventilation (car camping), and remove daily for driving, would you say the installation is too troublesome to do that on a daily basis?
I would say it is doable but not sure it would be the best option. Remember that these are plastic and constantly installing and uninstalling might affect the lifespan of the product. What’s the opposition of leaving them in full time?
A buddy used weathertechs in his jeep but found they got loose after a while, and i've seen others with similar experience, especially the possiblity of one coming out on the highway. I think you mentioned you added some double stick tape, but that just seems like a mess in a hard to reach spot.
@@buttonsangel3074 that’s understandable. I’ve had multiple sets of weather techs on various vehicles and have been fortunate to never lose or leave one behind. Have heard the stories though. Yes I did add some clear thin 3m double sided tape. It was very easy to install actually. First installed the tape on the rain guard. Pulled a little bit of the red covering off, installed the rain guard then was apply to pull the rest of the covering off. Made for an easier install and haven’t had any issues of them coming loose.
Thanks a lot Marti. I've got time before the trip, but this helps. I can get them and add tape if needed
@@buttonsangel3074 no problem! Hope they work for your needs 👍
Where to find those black trunk mats you got ?
It’s a factory Toyota part. Husky and Weathertech make a similar product

Thanks bro
Nasif Nasar no problem!
Starts off by spraying enough window cleaner to do all the exterior glass...
Is it noisy on the highway?
I honestly don’t notice a huge difference in noise compared to with and without
I got mine it cuts down a lot on the wind im the cab. I drive lot with windows down.
@@michaelcoriglianol7197 did you get these exact weather guards, because I also enjoy driving with the windows down
@@ghostgrizzly_ yes and the are warrentied one cracked they sent me brand new set no hassles.
If any of you have too much dignity to watch some random dude clean his windows....skip to 2:00 mark....you're welcome
Wheels
John Umek will definitely add it to the list!!
Wait... are you guys talking about the rims? Cause ill take them!!
Ryan Rye I think it was more of a recommendation on what I should add to the vehicle! I will at some point add different rims.
@@MartiArtisan very serious about buying then when you wear the tires out in 3 maybe 4 years... when your ready to sell them try to remember the guy on youtube and shoot me a price id like to be first inline.
Ryan Rye definitely will keep you in mind if and when I sell!!
