Lovely ring. Wicked imagination and well executed. Thanks, makes me want to give it a go. A bit more down to earth than Patrick Adair but just as clever.
Haha I'll take that, thank you for watching!
Just an outstanding video on the Steam Punk Ring, and an excellent step by step how to video. Also appreciate your links to the Teespring products. Ordered a "Slave To The Lathe Mug" for my brother, that got me hooked on CNC Milling and Pen Making with a small lathe. Looking forward to checking out your other videos. Cheers
Thank you so much. Many comments I get on here these days are negative or snarky so I really appreciate it 👊🏽😁

chris riddick thanks man, was a tricky one for sure, cheers for checking out the video!
I told my friend about this ring and said I'd try to make him one. He was VERY excited. If I do make one, I'll send you a pic of it to see what you think!

Thanks and keep the videos coming :-)
Got the link from Patrick Adair Design 's video , both of you are Awsome !
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Hi!
I just love this ring!!! My son would bee so happy if he got something like this. Unfortunately my fingers dont allow me too things like this. Sadley so. I also cant come to makers central just becouse I live in Sweden and cant afford traveling there right know. Also sadley.
I just found Nicks You tube page and is just so I have so much inspiration of al this. I'm sewing many different things in al different formats and also doing bookbinding from the start of just pappers to finished. So everything craftmanship gives me idee's.
I'm gonna keep looking at youre things and it's gonna be fun. Whising you a good time at makers central. Also thanks for sharing youre incredible talant with us al!!!
Hugs from Sweden
Thank you for your kind words and hope you have fun making all those cool things!
This is awesome, how about adding a steel wire on the inside for strength?
i love this

Linda saúde muito 😍🥰🙏👏👏
So i have a question were do u find those gear bands in those steampunk rings u find all over I've been looking and I cant fine them
Обалденно! 👍
Hey! Does anybody know where you can buy the wood to make these bent wood rings?
i need to know what glue you are using ! thank you
😍
What CA glue do you use?
Hi Dan, AGAIN what an amazing, awesome and beautiful ring. I've been watching you video now for 2 years plus and your ring and bracelet ideas are so impressive.
My question is, how the hell you know what socket you use for the right ring size... lol everytime I try, the ring ends up to small or to large. Have you got a document or can you do a video of getting the right size ring.
Thank you mate and also a huge thank you for your entertaining videos.
Hey thank you so much for checking out my videos! It depends on the finish - if using CA choose a socket 1/2-1 size bigger than needed. If you're oiling it then choose one slightly smaller.
I've been planning to make a course/ebook kind of thing for a long time, maybee I should get working on it!
Beautiful ring! I know you'd sell a huge amount of them to all the Steampunk fans out there!! But of course, you'd also lose many years of your life making them. Always a trade-off...;)
Any reason why you ‘file’ grooves on the lathe rather than use a thin parting tool or a point tool to cut them like normal Woodturning?
Hope you're okay.. Looking forward in seeing a video soon buddy.. Best wishes Mark
Haha yeah man I'm alive - just been very busy in the workshop but I have a cool project video coming soon. I wish I could publish more, it just takes ageeeees haha.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
this really makes me want to try this but i dont have a lathe
Dude I've been making rings for a while without a lathe, granted it's tricky and you can't get as nice a finish but it can yeild results that though they take you a while can be almost as good
Patrick Adair sent me your way. Entertain me. Ok, I watched the video a couple of times and I was entertained. Good job. 👍 and subscribed.
Looks bloody great, but there has to be a better way to carve out a recess in your ring, rather than using different shaped files? What about a chisel or lathe tools? Your finishes come up a treat and they look fantastic. Congrats bro! Cheers Sean
The Bungling Woodworker thank you! Yes it’s easy enough to cut that inlay channel with a chisel on the lathe. I did try but I messed it up haha.
I MAKE THIS!!!!!!
Saúde vida de 👏👏👏😍😍💍
Salut très belle réalisation tu en demande combien ?
Don’t forget to add the rubies that are in the watches, they are used to seat in the moving parts 😹 I have been collecting all the rubies out of all the old and some new watches that I have been pulling apart unfortunately some of the new watches are run with batteries and as such not much in the way of moving parts. Many of the rubies do pop out easy but some will not move so I have kept them as they are for a different project in the future.
I do like the ring I have been wanting to make one but it’s on hold while I work on my storage cabinets first 😹😹😹
Yes! I have a couple of movements with rubies in them but they are super small! Good luck with your cabinets
Zebrano Wood Craft thank you 😹 I’m having fun designing my own cabinets and making them after that it’s building my own kitchen the way I want it 😹😹😹
Shame some of the rubies I have found have been 4mm x 1mm which have been great but then I have collected over a few hundred old/semi old watches with a few semi modern ones the very old watches from late 1800 to early 1900 have had the larger rubies in them 😸 most of the ones pre/post WWII have been medium to smallish special all the ones from 80’ and 90’s 😹😹 anything from 2000 on are waste of time(pun intended😹) as they are mostly all electrical with plastic movements unless you have one of the super expensive watches that is🙀😹 mind you I would not be pulling them apart😹😹😹😹
hi great rings where do you get your vineer from and can i get it local ( Swansea ) I want to make wife one, ive made rings from steel nuts but want to make wood rings now. Griff
You can use any venir
5:44 for a moment i thought he was putting those things on the inside of the ring lol
Olá amigo qual o nome dessa cola que você usa ?
sweet brother
Good video as usual! Thanks for sharing. If anyone Is looking to make this project without dissecting a watch . I don't have a link but with a little searching you can find replica watch parts in a variety of metals and finishes.
Where did you get your inspiration? This looks strikingly similar to my design from 2016. You can find my little store SteamWoodworks on Etsy and Facebook. Let me know what you think.
Steam Woodworks I can honestly say that I’d never seen your shop before and the ring you referred to is a beauty! I was actually inspired by the Yoke Pen Company who make watch part pens and I just thought it would look cool as a ring.
Steam Woodworks really nice touch where you lined the inlay with brass was it?
I'm not surprised you haven't seen my shop before haha. I just think it's interesting that two people can have similar ideas on opposite sides of the globe, with different inspirations. 7 billion people. It has to happen eventually :) Yes I used brass sheet, almost paper thin. You can cut it with scissors. There's not much space to work with, in these rings, as I'm sure you know. Thanks for looking at my designs. Always happy to share ideas. And thank you for the videos. There is always more to learn.
How do you you accurately size bentwood rings?
A lot of people use socket sets and create a few mock ups to gauge the size of the different sockets, or the sockets will have the millimetres on them, it takes some figuring out but you can work out what sizes correlate
Hi Dan..I’ve made this Steampunk ring and as you say, it’s tedious. Everything went well until i started using the ca. All my hard work was covered with a mixture of milky ca and black paint! The paint i used was Vallejo Model Color 17 ml Acrylic Paint - Matt Black and the ca was Everbuild 2 stick....i didn’t use accelerator and the wood was completely dry..Any idea Dan?...Some Jack Daniels calmed me down to just above boiling point!
Hey dude. UV resin from Alumilite is the best finish for these rings ✅👊🏽
@@ZebranoWoodCraft Cheers mate..
I always get the first wrap stuck on the socket any advice?
Use less glue, or alternatively you could try oiling the socket, this will prevent the glue from sticking, it's also a good trick for your hands if your not wearing gloves
I tried this 3 times, each time i add the ca glue, it either doesn't dry, and if i spray with activator, it turns everything white, then the ring is ruined. I tried thin, and thick ca glue. Both doesn't dry. Seems impossible to fill this big gap with ca.
Uso cianacrilato ou resina no inlay?
What size WAS The Ring 10 mm 8 mm BLANK ?
I Bought A 8 mm 6 mm BLANK
HARD To GET Part S To FIT
This ring was 10mm wide and I had to trim some of the watch parts down too.
@@ZebranoWoodCraftthanks.
One more question. Imperfection in glue finish. Small white dots. Can these be corrected , they are at different depths. I was thinking of a sharp xacto knife and refill.
resin?
do you sale your rings
