Another terrible video. Thanks for wasting my time.
Btw i want to enter that drawing please
Christopher Cochran,. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE EVERY BREATH YOU TAKE IS A WASTE TIME!!!
keepin me humble
Wow you got talent !!
Was he being... ironic? I do not understand this Christopher person.
Last September, my fiancé and I was traveling. I woke up early in the hotel, watched this video while drinking coffee, thought it over, and by lunchtime I told my fiancé that I saw this video of a guy making a ring from wood and I wanted to buy a lathe to make my wedding ring the same way he did. In May I bought a Rikon Midi sized variable speed lathe. I’ve been practicing and I’m confident enough to give this project a shot. We are getting married May of 2020. Wish me luck and thank you for the video!
Well... how did it go? Post us an imgur album or something!
John Techs rings done! I actually made three. Copper was a little intimidating and my skin is sensitive so I used a premade titanium core. I matched that with a titanium wire inlay. I didn’t do a great job with the UV resin on the first ring. The second one was perfect but I picked a core that was a little big. The third one is the winner. Unfortunately it’s sitting in my safe and I’m unmarried. With COVID, we delayed our wedding by a year. I’ll see if I can link up an image of the final ring in my google drive.
@@BlkHunterGatherer Thanks for the update! Im sorry to hear that your wedding was delayed. Ours was supposed to be a lot bigger but instead of delaying we downsized to only 20 guests. I'm interested because I'm getting married in about 10 days and I have already purchased all the tools to make my ring, I'm also using a pre-made titanium core, but I already had the lathe so I didn't have to buy a whole lot. I'd love to know more about your experience with the titanium wire if you care to share.
What a compliment. Congratulations on the wedding.
So, next month aight mate?
Wow!!! I’ve been watching videos on ring building for years. This is by far the most professional technique to building with just outstanding results. Your work is that of a jeweler and your rings are simply beautiful. ;-)
I love that you explain what you are doing every step of the way. I've been watching some phenomenally talented wood turners, but it's all show with no explanation of what's actually occurring. Thanks
8:38 That moment when the song you’ve heard 3 times in a row has just kicked in for the fourth. AHHHHH!!!!
When I hear RUclips's shitty free music loops in any video I click away instantly. I've seen people loop 8 second crappy RUclips tracks for 45 minute videos. No one deserves that.

Then you find this and it’s a disappointment.
God, the algorithm’s so slow in dissipating hope & faith.
Beautiful ring sir I love the idea of combining metals and woods . Blessings and peace
Why ever I watched this, it´s an amazing piece of artwork. Great!!!
I can totally appreciate the craftsmanship involved here!
Fantastic video!!!
I still think this is one of your finest rings.
The apparent simplicity of the finished product belies the effort involved in making it.
It really is a thing of beauty.
One of these days, when I can afford to, I will become a customer! In the meantime I will continue to be hypnotised by your "making of" videos.
Bravo.

First vid and I'm impressed. This was so cool to watch & now I so want a custom ring made for me😉
Great vid, thanks.
Cheers,
ive been watching a lot of these kinds of videos lately and yours are amung the bestKeep it up :D
thanks dude, you are the best!
Tempest Rings you are amazing! Wow! I have a lot of semi precious stones of all kind, I had (have) a jewellery business, and got sick... I checked Etsy, awesome rings. Would you consider someone sending you the stones even the inlays I have a lot. And pay for the difference? Would that be possible to make a custom ring like that? I am in Ontario Canada where are you situated?

I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for putting the commentary as we follow along. I enjoy learning what each step does. Love the wood & copper. Classy!
I just found this channel and pretty much immediately subscribed. I've seen plenty of other people make cool rings or other workshop-type stuff, but you seem genuinely interested in your viewers being able to understand what and how you make these rings - even be able to do it themselves. I really appreciate your detailed, intuitive, and educational explanations throughout the video, keep it up!!
Lastly, I agree with your statement, "less is more". Some workmen sometimes over complicate their designs, causing a crowding effect with the materials. It takes a humility as an artist and a true understanding of one's craft to design something that just allows the natural beauty of the materials really shine.
Not sure what others are watching, but very nice video, I guess some are just envious of talented individuals like yourself. Thanks for the great video and actually showing in detail the tricks of your trade. Beautiful ring!
This is epic. Thank you for this cool tutorial. My hubby loves his wood wedding ring and he would love to try this as a hobby for his next band!
Best ring I’ve watched you make. My favorite anyway.
This is strikingly beautiful. So simple, and the contrast in colour is perfect 🙂
I really loved watching this video of the making of one beautiful piece of jewelry. Thank you for the lesson, my friend. ~Terry
As a former jewelry designer that has only in the last few years embraced wood working, this speaks to me. Also, I lose on average 1 wedding band per year. Maybe if I make my own band, I'll hang on to it. Beautiful work.
Thanks for sharing your videos with us all. Absolutely a beautiful ring!
That is a really beautiful Ring!
Love to watch craftsmen like you working!!
Great video thanks I've learned a lot......like the way you used tape to contain the ca glue when stabilising the the blank.......beautiful ring
Beautiful work
Absolutely amazing work! That turned out beautiful!!
Awesome looking and unique . Great craftsmanship as well. I would wear that ring just to show the final product of the hardwork and the creative thinking that goes into making something like this.
Sticking your fingers inside a rotating piece of powered machinery (12:52) gives me the willies. I once worked with a guy who, for unknown reasons, stuck his finger into the hollow shaft of a rotating buffer wheel. Now when he sees someone he knows he gives them a high four.
I heard about a guy that put his willy in the pickle slicer at work. He lost his wife when he was caught. But he's happy with the gal he met at work, her name is Jill, she's a wiz with a dill, LOL
@@Alwis-Haph-Rytte I knew a girl who worked in a butcher shop. One day she backed into the slicer, and got a little behind in her work.
@@dhy5342 LOL
@Robert Theref Could you please elaborate? Was dhy5342 right or wrong about what gives him the willies? Or is it the story about the coworker?
I think he should know what gives him the willies and why. Are you just trolling?
@@Dorenda You're going to hate this factoid. They claim the average person eats in their sleep 5 spiders a year. About 30 years ago I had a pet tarantula. I let it walk across my face once. Goose bumps, LOL
Some great tips and techniques! Thanks!
Come again? He leaves alot out. Plus he added a trick designed to ruin and set people back with his "tips". 1. He intentionally left out why his Q Tip was turning black while he was polishing the inside. I of course know why that is and he also did it wrong by skipping the follow up step to that, thus his cooper is not mirror shiny. 2. When he verbally tells people to use a heat gun when cleaning up the excess it is a trick and it will melt the finshing line causing the entire ring to fall into the Alumi-UV. 3. He doesn't discuss grain orientation when cutting the veener strips. 4. He leaves out the wet sanding and buffing of the fishing string node. 5. He leaves out lathe speeds that could fling Alumi-UV back at people who don't know better. This is one of the most masterful jerk around tutorials I have ever watched.
Wow watching this (that I just happen upon somehow) has made my appreciation for my jewelry pieces go up 110%. I didn't realize how much work went into them. I am profoundly impressed. Thanks for posting.
Absolutely amazing. I think these videos will inspire me to expand into my jewelry making. Thank you for the brass/copper inlay ideas.
Just got so upset because I watch so many woodworking videos and this came up on my recommended...I got so excited about the ring in the giveaway because its soooo beautiful and then realised it was from a year ago 😱
You can still buy one!
Cool ring. Also i agree that sometimes less is more. Not too much stuff going on, sleek design and a nice finish
totally, I of course make some more extravagant rings, but it is important to have variety.
:)

You are a real artist and watching this video wasn't a waste of time in any kind. Thanks.
Using walnut is brilliant. Such beautiful wood. And I love the copper too!!!
Another stunner - nice work man!
thanks!
Try using a razor blade to lightly scrape the high spot of clear. You can scrape just the high spot leaving very little to sand. That's what I do when I get a run in a cars paint job.
holy shit good idea!
+Tempest Rings Not my idea, but I'm happy to share the knowledge!!! Less chance of sanding through the clear. Just scrape flush and polish:) I enjoy your work and hit the sub button for ya. Keep Rocking it out Dude!!!
@ Rocker Pat, which direction with the blade? Like a wood scraper works well.
Yes I refinish rifle stocks and I use a razor blade to scrape out dents in the wood it works awesome I have been doing it that way for the last 25 years.
Love the look of that ring, must be expensive after that amt of work, would love to own one.
Great job! You are a terrific artisan. In my opinion, hand-made things like this are of higher quality and so much more valuable than "production-made-by-the-thousands" things. You have a great skill.
Always interesting to see something new that I’ve never done. Good work.
Just happened up on your channel, gotta day you do some fine work. Very meticulous, I can tell you take pride in your work. I hope I have a chance at winning that blue opal ring.
Beautiful work.
Just starting out on making wood rings myself, your videos are super helpful.
I'm amazed how nice these are and truly works of art.
Wow... very beautiful work. I wish that I could have found this for a engagement or a wedding band 21 years ago. Very nice work. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Beautiful ring. !😃👍👍
DAMN you make nice rings! I'm just getting into making these and you are definitely an inspiration!
I can't add anything to this such as i do love to watch a craftsman at work, a beautiful piece.
You are a true artisan. Thank you for sharing your work and expertise.
Amazing video! I’m new to turning rings, and this is definitely a technique I’ll have to look into. Only complaint is you really shouldn’t put your fingers anywhere near the lathe chuck. Try wrapping the sand paper around a dowel or something. Again, Great work, dude!
Thanks for taking the time to share how you make your rings, it's extremely helpful for those of us new to the craft. Do you have any idea how thick the AlumiUV is once cured? I'm curious how many coats of ca it would take to equal it's thickness.
just from my experience with both products it would be about 5 coats of a thick CA, but AlumiUV isn't brittle like CA, making it much stronger.
Wow ! Thanks for putting out this video and giving so much detail about your craft I was a Architectual Woodworker for over 20 years who also enjoyed Woodworking as a hobby most of my life in my 40s i suffered a traumatic brain injury that resulted in some paralysis on the left side of my body limiting the use of borg hands i was forced to retire earlier than i originally planned on despite Not being as capable of building the things i once was capable of doing i still have a passion for wood and creating artistic and one of a kind custom items so i have been exploring things on RUclips to see if it may be something i may enjoy doing and accomplish with the tools and knowledge i do have although i do not have any formal training or back ground in the jewlery business i like the look of the wood rings with the metal inlays and i think that with a fair amount of ingenuity and making some specialty tools and jigs for someone with limited mobility or even a handicap I think this mat be something i would like to try out i am between shops at the moment so it Is somewhat feasable my next one may be a micro shop or one without all the bells and whistles i once had and needed which is just fine with me a funny thing about that was i had originally planned on living on a sailboat after retiring and cruising longterm so i ha always thought about having a very small space for a shop and had quite a few ideas to pas the time and supplement money a little bit i am looking foward to seeing and learning more about your channel and seeing more of your work As i did like and subscribe and ill share whenever i do feel it is something my freinds and family on Facebook would enjoy as well please keep up the cool videos as your life permits as i am pretty sure i will enjoy whatever else you can teach or share about
Great attitude man. It might not interest you but with your focus on positive overcoming of your situation, i also might suggest checking out the work of joe dispenza...perhaps you could listen to him while you work on your projects
Damn It.
Now I gotta try to do this..Sat and watched 3 of your vids back to back. Absolutely Great work, and somewhat hypnotic.
You’re seriously doing a giveaway of that dark wood opal ring?!? I was literally on your site debating whether to get that ring for my girlfriend to propose to her, but if I could win it, then heck yeah! I’ll for sure watch tomorrow’s episode to try my luck! Love your stuff, keep it up
SonOfUlti , did you propose? 😊
Yeah man, keep us updated
i guess she said no :/
She mustve said no. Rip
Yeah, I think she said no.
Great video. Now all I have to do is figure out how to do this without any power tools.
Chris William yeah man when I read the title of the vid, i didn't realize he had a lathe...lol
lathes do make things easier!
No it just speeds it up. You can also use a very small file or knife to cut the groove
How much patience do have?
That's amazing work. Really cool to see how a ring is made. Even cooler to see one made of copper pipe, wire and walnut veneer. New subscriber
The ring looks great so well crafted, do you sell the rings you make? I would love one 👍
Might be a little late but his website is in the description. ^_^
"Dude, no one would be dumb enough to stick their finger into a spinning chuck on a lathe..."
"Hold my beer"
it just gave me a heart attack
I'm envious of your talent ! Thank you for sharing.
This is beautiful work,true craftmanship.
Omg thats amazing I only wish I was that talented
Where did you get the ring sizing tool?
i got that same one on amazon "ring mandril"
Really unique and lovely ring. You have great skill, please make more!!
WOW That turned out absolutely gorgeous!!!
how long does it take you to make one of this bad bois
When I make rings, it takes me about 3-4 hours.
Awesome ring. Your explanation of how you work is quite helpful.
If i may ask ....what is the uv bath you have, where did you get it?
it is literally just two UV nail polish curing lamps facing face to face lol 35 watts each
Tempest Rings Thanks for taking the time to answer I really appreciate it.
always a pleasure!
Sounds very sophisticated. LOL
I was wondering about the extra bulbs, simple setup
First vid and I'm impressed. This was so cool to watch & now I so want a custom ring made for me😉
Great vid, thanks.

Excellent First time I've seen a ring being made. Thank you for showing.
i want to buy the ring

Love this ring! Love your video! Thank you for showing how it's done!
Beautiful ring and a well done detailed video. Thanks for your great work!
Kids ...Don’t try this at home...NEVER put your fingers inside a power tools chuck as it is rotating. That lathe would twist that finger off without compassion!
I like the craftmanship BUT that internal sanding and polishing could be done safely by wrapping a dowel with the sandpaper and steel wool. Hard to watch
Is that a ring master burn?
That felt like a ring master burn..
Ok i dont know anything about this stuff but im just gonna say it.
*BURN*!!!!! 👊👊👊
Also to channel: wow you have real talent man. Seriously. :)
Dont lose a finger bro.
I thought the same thing. Danger Will Robinson, Danger.
Keara Martin. Precisely my thought when I saw him doing that, not the best thing to show, but yeah the craftsmanship in the end is nice.
PUSS
Keara Martin Stay away from power tools, you obviously have no clue how to work with you’re hands. He is an experienced craftsman and in no danger, loose clothing near the lathe will get you hurt badly he did not do that.
Man, 39 people liked it so much that they flipped their device upside down and liked it twice!!!
that is clever. never heard that one till today.
,
Gorgeous ring, simply stunning.
The whole process is so smart, thank you
I'm surprised your annealing process increases the workability of the copper. with steel if you quench it, it gets much harder. try letting the copper's temperature normalize slowly.
ya with the copper already being so soft it conducts off the heat very quickly anyway, and I don't need to increase workability a ton anyway. Mostly it stops the band from splitting if I stretch to aggressively.
Copper also work hardens so the annealing makes it easier to work. I've seen a couple of blacksmiths heat and quench their copper to work it.
most metals other than iron alloys anneal in quench like silver
As far as I understand it, it's the heating that actually softness the metal. It doesn't matter how it cools
Ltifone2014. Heating with a swift cooling aka quench hardens letting the metal slowly cool will not harden it
Did you make your own wedding ring and then make your wife buy it off you? lol.
Absolutely beautiful!!!! Love your work
Very beautiful piece, thank you for showing this!
God you terrify me putting your finger in the lathe like that
Same.
With the right tools & the main thing is the expertise produced such a fine & beautiful ring
I love your art! You’re absolutely talented! ♥️
Beautiful work! I love opal and the walnut really makes the opal pop
It was a pleasure watching you work
I thought it was awesome. I am always amazed at the skill individuals have, and the beautiful things that they make. Thanks dude.
A beautiful ring made from a combination of two of nature's most beautiful resources!
Beautiful work! Excellent videography.
This is the first video of yours that I've watched and man that is awesome!!! Beautiful ring nice job! I wish I had the time and patience to try LoL.
Very cool process. Tempted to try this for a ring of my own, thanks. Nice result!
I'm a wood turner and I've been looking into making some rings as well. I kinda stumbled on to your channel, and I enjoyed the video. Everything was clearly explained and shown. I hit L, S, and the Bell

This is beautiful work my friend!!!
Looooove your work!! Each one a work of art! 🥰❤️
Great video - and a beautiful ring. Enjoyed watching your process - looks entirely doable for a rookie like me. Thanks.
I love walnut in furniture also. This ring is a thing of beauty.
Just got into ringmaking and I'm loving it. I've been playing with fordite a lot and wood. Great video!
Absolutely beautiful work!!
ok rarely do I ever subscribe after the first 20 seconds of a video, but wow... I like what I see! Great presentation and so clearly conveyed, I'm going to have to learn and finish watching bc I'd love to make a ring like that!
Nice job, love the two colors together.
Excellent workmanship
Wow! fantastic work!
I enjoyed the video. As with most things you take what you can get from it. I realized a new method to do inlays. I have a few non-ring wood turning projects where I can adapt the inlays (brass inlays for my wood turned Harry Potter Wands). So keep making videos, I might learn more!
Congratulations on your great work. Thank you for sharing with us. Greetings straight from Brazil.
