That was a true adventure ride, all by yourself at that remote place at nightfall and in the dark with 4ºC, I have to say it’s pretty real and not for show. You did it for yourself and I was watching wishing that you were able to reach the mountain top… But nevertheless you went very close to achieve it. And that’s what I call to take the experience so far as you can. That was clear too. I was watching the video and struggling to breed as long as the path turned more and more difficult with the snow. I felt exhausted too😂👍🏻 That was a lot of fun to watch and I subscribed the channel. I have the same bike but I just use it as a road bike because it’s a delight to ride. What you’ve demonstrated is that our bike is really capable off road as the tradition demands on this model. I will trade it for the adventure as I use the GS mainly on asphalt but I appreciate the extra comfort and also not worrying about gas autonomy on longer rides with two people and luggage. But I already know that the standard 1300 GS will be missed for the agility and practicality of its general performance which are specific strong points that will not be present on the bigger sister. But I also value the better road presence of the GSA and basically that’s why I’m trading the GS for it. Thanks for the wonderful content!
@Fernando90054 Thanks for the sub mate, and the words of encouragement. I absolutely love this bike for its on-road performance so to only use it as an on-road machine is perfectly acceptable. These bikes are very capable and they can get you many places people might think that they don't belong. (a "winging it" mentality helps) 😂 I think the GSA will be a fantastic road bike also and you won't even miss the little sis. Are you going for the manual or automatic version?
Kudos for trying, and safety first! I'd not go up there late October and at that time of the day, almost regardless of weather. It can change quickly as well. About riding in the dark, not without auxiliary lights. Cheers.
Yeah probably a good idea to not go as late as I did. 😂 I think the aux lights would be a good addition to the bike if I do plan (or unplanned) night excursions. Cheers mate👍
It would probably be easier to drive there with an automatic transmission, and I don’t think I’d go on such a trip alone. Anything can happen, and you were driving at night, so I doubt you had a signal. Anyway, amazing! I was out of breath watching it along with you! :)
Love the video, but I was wondering why you didn't disable the traction control? Like you would do in the sand/mud. And if you would have made it when it was turned off...
I was thinking the same thing when I was editing the video, I guess I was oxygen deprived at the time and not making good decisions. 😜 I've never needed to switch it off before so I guess I didn’t think of it. Also as you can see in the video the rear wheel is spinning at around 30kph most of the time, so I don't know if turning it off would have helped or not. Maybe 100kph burnouts would have done the job. 😂😂 It's something I will need to try next time. cheers mate👍
@BavarianBloodhound1 next time you'll see the lights blinking and remember it to turn it off. Keep the shiny side up. Wish you many happy and safe km's.
Hey @thestig987654321 this was october 31st, I would say aim for 2-3 weeks earlier and you shouldn't have any problems and also not the maximum crowds either. 👍
Another great real-world kinda video albeit a bit crazy to ride that late into the darkness on the narrow track with limited viz of the abyss to your side... your stones are definitely larger than mine😂 Mate, I have a '23 KTM 890 Adventure upon which I have ridden it on a few of the BDRs this side of the "POND"; good machine. On the other hand, I also have a current generation Honda Goldwing. It has taken me around the US in wonderful comfort. However, I manage to regularly find myself on a back country road where the pavement seems to stop😂 my journey ends😢 To that regard, I am very much considering trading in that wing for this 1300 GS so to get the best of both worlds: a bike that can tour; yet I can still definitely take it of the civilized road. What is your opinion of the LONGER distance comfort of the 1300? What is your opinion of the overall wind protection the bike affords you: buffering on the shoulders, helmet, etc.?
Ignorance is bliss, who needs big stones when stupidity is on your side.😂 The honda big fella (goldwing) as I call it, would destroy the gs for comfort. but I understand your point, when the blacktop ends you want something else underneath. I have become used to the 1300 for the seat comfort and the wind buffeting is minimal, I did remove the peak off my helmet when I was doing a big highway section so that my neck was a little less strained (doing speeds of 150-180 kmh for literally hours in germany) I think sometimes the wind protection is too good as every now and then I need to put the screen down to cool off, but I do tend to run hot. best thing you can do is rent one for a day and bang out 500km on it. renting is a cheap way to figure out weather or not you like the bike, rather than buying and discovering you don't. Try both the 1300 gs and 1300 adventure model as the latter will only have more wind protection and possibly a more comfy seat. ( I haven’t tried the adventure yet but do plan too) hope this helps a little 😛
If it matters - the three people I know who either have or have had GSA's use it as the gold standard of wind protection. Two of them are here on RUclips - one is Mongrel Dog (out of Australia) and the other is Black Dog Enduro (here in the states). Few bikes have wind protection like the RT or the goldwing offers.
@suzyamerica4679 I'll check out those channels. Yeah, the GSA . UGH...what a conundrum! I might have to agree with you about the prospect of the GSA offering good wind protection; yet, I like the idea that the GS (no A) might be a bit more offroad oriented: less weight, smaller frame, etc.
@onemileattatime2642 If its only gravel roads that you plan on doing like my finland trip (go and watch that series if you haven’t yet) 😃😉, then the extra weight won't really be noticed between the two. It's only when the trail gets more technical (tight, steep, loose) that the weight difference will be noticed I think best bet is to ride them both back to back, That will give you a really good feeling for them. 👍
Another brilliant video Man 👌
Brilliant riding, optimism and humour
Thanks for sharing your experiences 😎
I’m always full of optimism (maybe sometimes to my detriment). 😂😂😂😂
Cheers mate thanks for watching.👍👍
Great video. Had us on the edge of our seat. Yes Mum was glad you turned around.
Thought she might be. 🥶
you are hard core than the other 95% gs riders who stay on road, me included.
😂 thanks mate.
You got some balls matey , 👏👏👏👏
haha, Cheers mate.👍
Fantastic ride. Thanks for providing great content!
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
Bat Poop Crazie!! 😆 Absolutely Brilliant Tom 👌👍
😂😂😂
Cheers mate.👍

@ hi mate! I’m going for the automatic one. Thanks for replying.
Nice, I've been wanting to try the auto myself because I have been hearing good things about it. hope you get many enjoyments out of it mate. 👍
Kudos for trying, and safety first! I'd not go up there late October and at that time of the day, almost regardless of weather. It can change quickly as well. About riding in the dark, not without auxiliary lights. Cheers.

You have a ton of guts good show Brit 😊
Stupidity and guts are the same thing right?
😂 cheers mate. 👍
super trail!
It was definitely a fun one.👍
Amazing vid. I freakin' love it in the dark. But... i got some DENALIs on (2 pairs: a D4 and a D3)
I think I must get some because winter is coming and night riding will become a way of life. 😂
@@BavarianBloodhound1 it's a "night becomes a sunny day" difference 😀
Cool. Will definitely have to get them on the bike then.

Anyway, amazing! I was out of breath watching it along with you! :)
Yeah can be dangerous riding alone, that’s why I try to take to take it easy.
Cheers mate. 👍
You're don't justice to your bike. Let me now live vicariously through you. Thank you Sir.
Haha, Glad you enjoyed it mate. 👍
Looked like a late start to the summit of K2 mate!!!
😂😂 Yeah not the best timing on my behalf.

When did you make this trip? I'm planning to go next year and I'm curious what time of year this was.
Hey @thestig987654321 this was october 31st, I would say aim for 2-3 weeks earlier and you shouldn't have any problems and also not the maximum crowds either. 👍
🎉🎉
👍👍
Wish I could subscribe harder. Awesome video
Haha cheers mate.👍
beautiful view, wonder bike.... bro, whole world know your iPhone code now :0 :)
😂 cheers mate, not much to see on there anyway. 😉
once in a lifetime....may be twice ... :)
Might have to be twice because I didn’t see the view from the top. 😜

Mehhhhh, you gotta take a trip to the PNW Canada (BC) this is like gross dirty toilet 🚽 views and riding compared! 😂
Perhaps I must look at coming to Canada eyy,
If this is as you say “gross dirty toilet”.
My expectations are very high now. 🧐
@ oh ya, just take a look on google earth… can ride anywhere too… pure freedom
Sounds good to me. 😀
