GT S sound comes across as muted, it screams in the flesh (gets so loud mic has to attenuate signal, can hear background noise also suppressed)
Nothing sounds better than Maserati's symphony.

Maserati wins, particularly if it's the MC Stradale which had the Ferrari engine. Must be in sport mode, though. Nothing like it. Even the Ferraris don't sound as good. Maserati is the best sounding car on earth.
The regular GT has the Ferrari engine as well, it's just that the MCS has a better exhaust and a bit more power (revs slightly higher i think).
every current production maserati has 'ferrari' engines. either f154 or f160
80386 That's not true. Ferrari 'designed' engines and the actual Ferrari engine (with Maserati specs and machined in Maranello) is what I'm talking about. Some Maserati engines are machined in Detroit at Chrysler (since all three were bought by Fiat SA).

I've owned both at different times and the 63 just sounds meaner with the burbles and just more aggressive. The Granturismo is bassy and more pleasant for everyday, and still sounds incredible. I need to own them simultaneously and life will be good.

I've owned v8s all my life. Some loud, some tuned, some custom etc. Straight thru, 3 inch, twin 2.5 inch, extractors, cats, no cats, sports cans, race cans. You name it.
Loud does not win unless it's got a distinct burble and rumble. I've run a straight thru 3 inch with extractors on a 4.0 rover v8. One of the nicest sounding v8s out there. It was loud. Too loud! On my other disco I ran twin 2.5s with different mufflers throughout but still with extractors. Sweet! So fu cken sweet!!!!
Every knob running a custom cruiser with a yank v8, blown, with extractors and piggies or dump pipes will say theirs is the best cause its the loudest. Try living with it every day. Try living with it across the normal working rev range and at WOT. it has to be a complete package. The maserati has a much more liveable note and is very distinctive. I can always pick a maserati coming before I see it. Mrs always asks me how do you know. I give her a wink and say, it's easy to hear quality when it's coming.
The amg donk just sounds like your typical yank big block albeit with a slight bit more refinement.
Nothing beats the sound of a straight out of the box Aston or jag or maserati v8 for refinement and power under the same umbrella. Others must be manipulated or tuned. My Audi a8 sounds sweet for a similar motor but has had to be done at my expense. Newer Audi's, with their tuned exhausts well that's a different discussion, and I won't bring the v10 into it, not relevant to a v8 argument.
Remember, these are standard.

Maserati is more exotic sounding, for sure. C63 is just a particularly nasty V8. Can't say I've heard anything quite like it from other V8's, perhaps R-series Jaguars? Maserati has a sweeter sound though, nicer on the ears :)

Ahh the very distinctive C63 AMG exhaust note. The deep rumble and bang is more akin to the sound that resonates when a building is being demolished by explosions. The Maserati with its 4.7 litre can pout all it wants, its no where close to a 6.3 litre behemoth.

The engine of you merri will own the Maserati. But the soul of this Maserati will destroy any other car. And about the sound.. Hmm, are you sure? Mercedes low pitch farting granny may have more torque and horsepower but it will never beat that melodic piece of music.
Both sound awesome! But, the Maserati was in street mode, not sport mode. Street mode mutes the sound and performance. Remember, it has a Ferrari designed engine. In the street mode the Maserati is normally too loud for downtown driving.
Gran turismo won for sure. Although its not as LOUD as the C63 & C63 was wayy louder, the Gran Turismos sound was a lot more smooth and beautiful.

Cold starting it and reving it, now this got my attention (apart from the Maserati).
You should never rev a cold engine, believe me, I live in Norway, some of my friends did it and the cylinders suddenly popped up of the bonnet. Just dont, you're gonna kill it if its cold enough.
