Of course I’d take the list with a grain of salt considering how many Seiko’s are on there. I don’t care how affordable or how many designs they have, a shitty watch accuracy/movement means a worthless watch.
I was in Japan last week and stopped by the Grand Seiko Boutique. There's a new Astron with a blue dial that just POPS and spoke to me, so I picked it up. It's nice to see a bright blue dial, as it seems "Midnight Blue" is the rave, and frankly just looks black in most lighting situations. It fits this category as is under $1000 and is the ever popular integrated bracelet style. I never thought I'd pick up an Astron, but the dial is phenomenal!
@@eyeheartsushi2212 it was under 1K when it was all said and done - 20% discount from the AD (I didn't buy it at the boutique), plus duty free for me. I know I'm still in the honeymoon phase, but I really love this watch!
I have two Gentleman. The green dial (my wedding watch) and a black dial (both with the crosshairs). You are absolutely right about the indexes and their finishing. It was one of the first things I noticed when I first handled the watch. The green dial has become a semi-daily wearer for me, and I couldn't be happier with it
Personally I own Seiko SRPF41 a.k.a Matcha dial. It's so beautiful to just look at. You mentioned older sister, SRPF53. Good to hear Seiko Cocktail Time family in this video! ❤
Teddy, glad you shone your spotlight on the “Negroni”. I own one a love it’s dial colour/texture and size. I wear it for evenings out/parties and get lots of comments ⌚️👍🏼
This video made me buy a seiko srpf53. Dont care to much for the bracelet but that close up shot 8:11 was incredible and made me do it. I have a green dial gentleman and it is very gorgeous, hits well above it's price point. Dials are very important to me
Recently bought the Farer Mansfield; beautiful unique green shade, no complication, green strap. Number 3 in my rotation after Grand Seiko SBGA007 and Tudor BB58
I’m so happy to be over this stage of becoming a collector, you buy everything and sell at a huge loss. Maybe pick one or two and save for the inevitable upswing in the desire to get upstream.
I know what you mean. I skipped that stage and went straight to Tudor, Omega, and Breitling (although I might sell my Breitling). Still, the Tissot Gentleman is a very good looking watch.
You been killing it with the vids lately. Keep it up! Every time you upload recently, I find myself saying "I didnt know I needed to know this, but I wanna know it"
All great watches. I own 2 Tissot Gentleman and a brand new PRX 35mm. The finish is exceptional. The Gentleman has nothing to envy to a Longines Conquest that costs more than twice (1300 vs 600). If the Gentleman was made in 39mm or 38mm would be THE perfect watch. I think people look down to Tissot because of the price.
Teddy: "it's amazing to see the aventurine dial at the Zelos' price point" Me: I truly recommend you guys give some of the Chinese manufacturers a chance, because they can deliver unbelievable value for money and their watches are not always rip-offs of classic, popular designs. Great video, Teddy, I always like to check out some great looking dials.
I would call out Lorier who always have something in the range with an interesting dial. You have the Falcon with that waffle dial, the Zephyr with that textured guillochet dial, and the yet to be released Astra looks fantastic with that circular lume track.
I have the tissot gentleman, Powermatic 80 and can genuinely say that it is the best every day watch I’ve seen. That includes allowing you to get into Swiss watches for much less and if you’re on a budget still having something to execute everything you need at the beginning of a career. And I say that as someone who’s been in his career for more than 20 years.
Hey, thanks for sharing. What swayed you to pay that little bit extra over the PRX? I'm debating between the two myself to fulfill that intro to Swiss watches/do it all type piece as you mentioned.
@@Bkesal14I was also debating the Prx but ended up picking the gentleman. I picked it mainly because it goes with more. I think that the Prx was just a little bit too dressy for me.
I just saw the Farer and the Baltic in person at the Windup watch fair. They are both very nice, but that Farer Sorbet really stands out. Such a fun and surprising versatile watch. It might even be considered a modern classic at some point.
Same here, in person really does both justice. The Baltic reminds me of a Cartier Crash with the elongated numerals, but the 3D effect Farer achieves on even the non-lume Erebus Midnight is super impressive - the second hand for example really pops
I have the Mido Multifort Gent and I love how easily I'm able to wear it up or down depending on the occasion. A visual feast to look at close up too. Great collection mentioned here 👌
The Tissot Gentleman (in blue) is one of my favorites I own. Dress up, dress down, spec and strap monster, killer dial, etc….for the money it’s hard to beat.
great deep review like always! bought my blue Gentleman today after watching your review, my first swiss, I think I'm off to a good start! I'm looking forward to putting it on my wrist.
Great vid Teddy. I have a the green Gentleman and its such a great watch for the money. Looks great - keeps crazy accurate time and makes me smile wearing it.
Hi Ted: I have a Tissot Gentleman (in green dial) and it is a beautiful watch that punches way above it's weight. Though I understand why Tissot is putting time and effort into the PRX. I wonder what plans they have for the Gentleman line? Maybe...a GMT???
Thanks again for all the great videos and info. I splashed out of an Gentleman with the Anthracite dial for a “I got a new job” present to myself, and haven’t taken it off since I got it!
If you can't get your hands on a Zelos, I recommend the Selten 00.04 Aventurine. Absolutely stunning dial. Also the RZE endeavor glacier models are like a GS White Birch dial in a titanium dive case. Great go anywhere piece.
I absolutely love my Gentlemen. Puts a smile on my face every time I strap it on. Have the Rolex and Grand Seiko equivalents so it’s not a money thing, it’s a watch thing. They really should release a three fold clasp version with a brushed finish and colour matched date window maybe. Have a PRX Quartz too, sorry to burst the hype train bubble, but it’s simply not in the same league (even if it was the lesser spec’d Auto) as the Gentleman.
Seiko SSA413 is very forgotten in these lists in my opinion. The open heart acts as the epicenter of the ripples reminiscent of ocean waves on a zen garden. It's beyond beatiful and understated.
I wore my Gentleman all last week. So classy. I would have to go to an Aqua Terra or OP to replace it, there isn’t much in between. Even wore it for an interview. I have the blue dial and silver dial, both are excellent. I have a BB36 which is also excellent and more versatile but not as blingy.

I finally got a Tissot Gentleman (Black) after putting it off a for a while. Great office watch and those faceted indices really catch the light. Simple, reasonably priced, and well executed.
I wonder why tissot stopped putting the silicium movement in the more recent models. prx doesn't have it. seastar used to have it but stopped. ironically, some of the normal seastar models have the silicon hairspring while the expensive $1000+ seastar doesn't have the silicium. I wonder if the swatch group ordered them to limit the silicium movement.
These nodus and zelos watches are really growing on me. The Baltic is also really cool but I already have 2 micro rotor watches; a horage supersede and a VC overseas dual timer.
