Why not use. Magnetic switch sort of like the type used for windows or doors. The rally is with in an enclosed housing and when brought near the strong magnet, the reed closes the internal circuit. This will keep the moving parts internal and out of weather’s and salt’s way to prevent rust from hindering the function for your under hood light. Could Lao use a mercury switch that when the hood raises to a desired angle, the circuit completes and light turns on.
