2024 Rivian R1S Dual Motor | Large Battery | 21" All Seasons
This trip had a lot of first's for us. It was our first time dispersed camping, overnight camping in snow, and sleeping in an EV!
We drove ~100 miles each way after charging to 95% at home. Even with AC use overnight and light cooking, we were able to make the round trip without stopping to charge.
Car settings for this trip
Starting charge at 95%, ~340 miles
Ended the trip with ~30 miles left
Standard Height for the whole duration
All-Purpose before we hit the Sierra
Snow mode in the mountains

I loved your video.
There’s so much loud and self indulgent material out there.
Comparatively, your video is calm, pleasant to watch and elegantly understated. Best wishes for many happy adventures.
I think I’ll go for the R1S over the CyberTruck which is ready to configure for me.
Thanks for the kind words! I definitely recommend the R1S. I think there's some discount promotion going on right now. We did have to get it aligned at our local service center (might not have been correctly done at the factory) but it's definitely been a great 1 month with the car so far.
Great video!
Great Video!! Love the snowboarding action!!
Glad I didn't fall! (in this video at least)
Those 21” road tires did much better in snow than I thought they would
It definitely did pretty well. We were only expecting well plowed roads but was happy to test it out on unplowed and fresh snow conditions.
Nice trip! I was not so brave to camp in the winter, but I have some trips prepared for the summer.
You should give it a try! Waking up warm (the important part) and seeing falling snow was a very cool experience.
What is this hot pot sorcery. Beautiful Rivvy trip!
Great video. Love the understated vibe. What duffel bag is that at the 2:00 mark? Looks voluminous.
Thanks! It's a Dakine Boot Locker, we use it for our ski/snowboard gear. Fits a pair of boots in the bottom compartment, and helmet/gloves/clothes in the top compartment. amzn.to/3JzkTyk
대박 멋지군!
저건 어떻게 끓지?
Are you using the Tesla model Y lost horizon mattress? how was it?
Yeah, that's the model. The width was perfect. If you put the top of the mattress (towards the front seats) as far as it goes up without hanging over the 2nd row leg area, then it will not cover the area near the liftgate. Maybe ~6-8 inches too short? All in all it was great especially when you use an electric pump to give it some more air.
Ive slept on my Rivian with a heated blanket (on low).. I actually had to crack the window a little, it got TOO warm
It definitely gets warm in there, especially with 2 people. We often lower our AC temp overnight.
Dude ate Mala-Hot-Pot style noodle to keep him warm lol.
😂
how much efficiency does this box kill for the EV? thinking about getting the same box
I've only made this trip with the R1S with the cargo box, so I don't have a good data yet to compare. But I've seen posts that points to 5-10% range hit with a cargo box. But I think other factors like driving habits, altitude change, etc, are more impactful.
Can you send me a link to the self heating pots “Just add water and cook”
It's called "Haidilao self heating hot pot", we bought them from our local Asian grocery store
@@ChargeSetGo thank you!
What resort is that?
It's Sierra at Tahoe
Haodilao lol
Sound is awful. Couldn’t watch the video because of it.
Thanks for the feedback. Which part didn't work out for you? Maybe it was the background water noise from the creek?
