    Same alignment issue right out of factory. SC performed alignment which seemed to have corrected it for a few months but the car’s ride quality is no where near our other SUV (2025 bmw x5 ). Anytime I go above 80 mph I have to hold on to the steering wheel with both hands as it just does not seem to have stability after that. The air suspension is loud (compared to the model S I used to have). Low beam headlight came out of alignment at delivery. They adjusted it and made it worse where low beam is now shining like high beam. Can’t wait for the lease to get over. Don’t think I’llbe getting another Rivian.

    • @ChargeSetGo
      @ChargeSetGo 4 месяца назад

      Thanks! Glad you planned to go camping soon. Hope it's not too cold by then. We do power everything off the R1S, so anything from cooking and charging accessories. I'm not sure what your comfort level with regular camping, but one EV specific concern you need to double check is the range loss from cooking and AC use. For reference we sleep inside the R1S and often use some level of AC. Combine that with cooking throughout the day, we lose roughly 20 miles of range per day. I assume you will be sleeping outside (since you have a R1T) so I would estimate losing <5 miles from cooking and other daytime activities. The R1 platform has a max of 1500w combined from all power outlets so make sure your cookware does not go over that. We went on ~15 camping trips with the R1S this year, and looking back I'm glad we were able to gradually bring different kitchen appliances to see what fits our needs. We also tried campsites with electricity hookup early to ease our range anxiety. Hope you have a great time!

      @Riv_23 4 месяца назад

      @@ChargeSetGo You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for the info and the advice! Great recommendation on the wattage of the cookware. We hadn’t even thought about that. But like I said, we will be getting the same one you guys have so it should be fine. It will be my wife and two year old son’s first time camping, so I want to make sure they are as comfortable as can be, given the situation. We will be staying at a campsite with power and water, and I’ll be getting the same 30v adapter, so I’m hoping I can charge a little bit while there. But yes, we are staying in a tent, not in the truck. We are in Florida so the cold isn’t a concern, unfortunately. lol We will probably be watching all of your videos now to see if we can get any other ideas from you guys, so thanks again in for the amazing content and help. Do they supply covers for the moon roof? Shad is always a problem on the westcoast. You are either under a tree and can't see stars out of your moon roof, or you are in a field, and blasted out by sun. Usually, it's a mix of both, with sun beams blasting holes in your skull throught the branches. Of course snow camping during ski season would be better with the sun, but without moon roof insulation, it would suck at night ...what to do ...

    • @ChargeSetGo

      Rivian does not provide shades for the glass roof but aftermarket ones go for $50-70. I use Heatshield ones right now but I'm testing out one from EVBase with a video coming soon. We kept the shades on all summer and probably will remove them soon as we approach ski season.

    I'm interested in learning the actual 1:13 miles/kwh when you're discussing efficiency. When you say 'took a hit' what was the actual value (ie. 2.5, 1.8, 1.2, 0.6, etc). Trying to learn how efficiency impacts different R1S camping setups.

    • @ChargeSetGo
      @ChargeSetGo 4 месяца назад

      Will try to get more detailed numbers in the future! Usually going up the mountain brings me down to around 1.2-1.5mi/kwh, but it just depends so much on external factors like weather, wind, cargo, etc. One thing that seems to help range the most is using low suspension height. After many camping trips, I expect 20-30 miles range loss for each night of camping (cooking, AC, etc).

      @@ChargeSetGo Was Lowest too choppy for you guys? I just got back from Tahoe and used Conserve/Lowest for most of the trip. I switched to Low when it was too bumpy. On AT tires, I got 2.04kWh/M from San Diego to Tahoe, and 2.28kWh/M back home.

    That looks great, thanks for sharing! A few questions: Any thoughts on rusting or other long term effects on the under carriage by not having the plastic panels? Does it affect the ability to use magnetic jack pucks? And will this fit Gen 2 R1S? Picking mine up in a few weeks, super excited! Thanks!

      Thanks for watching! I've read somewhere that the battery is well protected so I'm not too worried at this point. But since I drive in the snow a lot in the winter, I'll have to see how it fares with rust this winter. No idea on the magnetic jack pucks. I'll make a tire rotation video when it's due and find out more about it. Good question on the compatibility. I'll reach out to my contact and reply back when I can!

    Not sure if i missed it but where was your point of origin and where did you camp? How far and how high did you climb?

      We drove from Sacramento to Lake Spaulding up 80. Around 80 miles each way and gained around 5000ft elevation.

    The range is better than the Y but I heard that Y is more efficient, is that true? It is good to know that it only used 45 miles for 3 days of heavy camping usage. BTW thanks for the video.

      Lighter vehicle + better aerodynamics (among other things) definitely makes Tesla more efficient. Good thing Rivian has bigger batteries on the R1 platform!

      It's more like a Tahoe vs a RAV4 when comparing Y vs R1S

    Good to see you out there doing stuff with your car! Also good to hear Rivian is conservative with their estimates.

    how private were the campsites at camp edison? i assume camp site on the south end needs a drive to the beach area in the north?

    • @ChargeSetGo
      @ChargeSetGo 6 месяцев назад

      We had a corner spot so it was more private than others. Terrain was a bit hilly with open spaces and some trees/bushes between campsites. Definitely had to drive to the lake.

    So how much clearance do you lose with the boards

    • @ChargeSetGo
      @ChargeSetGo 6 месяцев назад

      I'm measuring around 9 inches of clearance on standard mode. I believe it's originally 11.4 inches on standard. I'll have to test it out with snow this winter to see if I will be able to leave it on year around.
