So excited to show you guys my Little D! Been wanting to for a while, timing just felt right.... Let me know what you think! No serious replies... Check out the Boost Auto Lumistep M1 running boards video here ruclips.net/video/IhEQ-8e7opI/видео.html
I have now owned this truck with the diesel motor for just over a year with almost 25k miles on her. Zero defects. This motor is perfect for this truck. Plenty of pep at all the bands. Nothing but kudos for this truck. I average 28 mpg and on multiple trips to Florida got 40 mpg. Amazing. Being picky my low rating would be the seat when driving over 500 miles gets stiff but no complaints on short trips. The oil gauge is accurate but always shows at the low side which could be missed if low pressure was an issue. Very good truck.
Just turned 3000 miles on my 2023 LZ0 in a GMC SLT crew. No issues so far. I’m averaging 28 mpg. Hoping for many trouble free miles. Looking forward to future posts that include your new ride.
I went on a trip yesterday and got 37.7 mph. With my 23 Chevy baby diesel. No oil use yet. My dealer changes oil and filter rotates tires and tops off the def for $66 dollars. Love your baby D.
I drove an LM2 truck and was blown away. My wife has the 6.2 in her 2017 Yukon and it makes great power but that diesel power comes on immediately. Can’t wait to get an AT4 diesel.
Well done . I just bought a 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 Duramax and love it. By far the best truck I've had to date. Had to wait for 3 weeks due to transit but am sure glad I waited for the 2025. GMC has nailed the styling cues on this truck inside and out along with the Diesel package.. I hope it does well for me over the next 5 years and I don't have to end up at the dealership with numerous recall trips.
I had this exact vehicle for a while, Great power and efficiency. DEF was a non-issue when unloaded - easily a 1000+ miles. Towing a 24' snowmobile trailer loaded, DEF range dropped into the 400 mile range. You can always top off at truck stops or throw a spare DEF can in the bed.
It's a great setup. What did you move to? I'm thinking I should get over 5,000 miles on a def tank if I'm not hauling anything. Still only 1/8 tank used per the dash after 1400 miles. I've heard hauling is when it really sucks it down though like you mentioned
@@LifeofBliss First q.. Industry insider. on the 2nd point, I loved it regardless. I have had both the 6.2 w/ 10 speed and 3.0 w/ 10 for over 8k miles a piece. My comments are towards the towing from here... Both the 6.2 and 3.0 have very similar experience and milage (may 1 difference in my experience). I loved the 6.2 way better than the 5.3, just held the gear better, did not have the MPG fall off, and confidence in towing. The 3.0 loaded will hold a gear better than both, but there were certain cases (headwind) where it hunted for a gear a bit (I would just lock it in to a max gear). Exhaust break is defiantly a winner over the 6.2. But towing, it does drink DEF like a case of ice cold beers on a Mexico beach. My trailer is fully boxed enclosed v-nosed trailer, probably 5000 pounds loaded, 3 dudes in the cab + gear in the bed.
wow this is great info We pulled a 27ft 6000lb or so snowmobile trailer to UP last fall with a 22 LM2 and burned almost 7 gallons of DEF on the 1000 mile trip. I was blown away at the consumption. I have been considering a LZ0 to replace my 19 cummins but really wondering the DEF consumption when towing. 400 miles on a tank is brutal. How is the towing MPGs with your LZ0 towing your snowmobile trialer and how does it compare to the 6.2?@@MrThe3zs
@@barrthom603 Round Trip to Munising or Gwinn was 14-15 range with the 3.0. 6.2 (MY19) was closer to 13 in a Yukon and Escalade. So with price of diesel vs gas, there is no savings. Additionally, the stock tank size of the diesel is too small (something like 23-25 gallons). It is fine for unloaded travel, but I had it to specifically pull.
@@MrThe3zsthat’s impressive with the 6.2. Ya no savings with the 3.0 at that point. I’m curious how my 19 Cummins will do towing our inline this snowmobile season. I hope we get snow!
Nice truck, I just put a deposit on a 2024 Chevy Silverado LT, Crew Cab, Standard Bed, 3.0 Duramax that's loaded and I can't wait to pick it up next week. Love your truck!
Nice truck! Bought my 2023 silverado 3.0 LZ0 with max tow package in April and already have 10k miles. Truck has been great with 0 issues. Also tows our 8000lb rv with no issues.
Does yours also burn around a gallon of DEF per 100miles when towing? Like mine does even towing only 4K lbs? I was SHOCKED. For me, 1000miles burns 1gal DEF when not towing. 100miles burns 1gal DEF when towing ~4K lbs Huge difference
Nice video. We have 23 SLT and frequently get low 30's mpg. When you are looking at fuel costs its easy. Diesel here $3.90/28 mpg = .14 per mile. Gas $3.20/16 mpg = .20 per mile ! Hope this helps John
@@mahkato1I did a ton of figuring and maintenance cost isn’t substantially higher with the LZO overtime. Yes you have a fuel filter change and DEF to manage here and there but there’s no significant difference in oil or filter changes.
Have a 21 with 50000 miles still love the truck Only fill up with DEF about every oil change and I tow a utility trailer often The only real issue I’ve had was addressed this week at the dealer an oil leak coming from the dip stick tube
I've got 5000 miles on my lzo never burnes oil did my first oil change at 2000 now I'm running amsoil still have the original def that they filled it with .
I have a 2021Sierra AT4 with the lil Duramax. Excellent performance, no issues at 29000 miles. We loved it so much, we bought a Yukon 2023 last July with the new diesel engine. Now has 8500 miles on it, PERFECT running engine. Fuel mileage is stupid crazy on both. She's getting 28.5 mpg at 80 mph on the freeway. Mine does about 26 mpg at those speeds. Still good but GM has obviously changed some torque dimensions between the two as her Yukon doesn't accelerate as fast. The Sierra truck will throw you sideways in a heartbeat...
I am picking up my Sierra 1500 Elevation with the 3.0 in it on Thursday. I have been watching a lot of videos on the truck and the duramax and I have to say I very much enjoyed yours. Thank you sir for all the input you gave in this video. I have subscribed and will be watching for more from you. Happy 3.0!
I have the ‘24 Chevrolet Z71 with the LZ0. Love the truck so far and my experience is the same as many of the others in the comments. No oil burn, high MPGs, no defects and I did the stealth running boards that tuck up by the frame. Yes, most people will need the running boards … the trucks are tall.
2023 lzo rst .I have 20k already And have had zero issues And get 25 city &28-31 on a trip.i drive it in sport mode with start stop off. Its been great so far.i keep the def full when it gets down to half i fill it back up
Great video. I recently got my 2024 AT4 3.0L Diesel and loving the heck out of it. Its my first diesel engine but a fan of the Chevy GMC Trucks. Former Silverado LT 5.3L and GMC Sierra SLT 5.3L owner. Cheers from Texas!
The singular reason I went with the 3.0 diesel was having several friends and family members experience lifter failures in their gas V8 trucks. So far I have no regrets.
My top glove box was the same, i just bought a roll of interior wireloom cloth tape and applied it to the latch release and it works great. The dealer is taking forever to get me touch up paint for a paint chip that is on the edge of the door when i bought the truck 4 months ago! So i came up with my own solution on that glove box rather than taking it to the dealer.
One day I'll unwrap my Little D and let it breathe! Deleting is definitely the way to go... it'll just be a while lol. That's great MPG for that truck!
Ive had my 21 lm2 for 2 years and I still get excited about it mpg. Its fun watching first timers experience it. I average 28.5 in the summer. Usually 26.5 in the winter. No oil consumption problems on mine. Def last me around 7500 miles, i put half a tank every 3000 miles or so. B&W make a speical hitch allows you to open your tailgate all the way.
Same for me on my 2023. Lovin the mileage. It pulls like a tank when needed. My first diesel and love it. On one loop on a flat highway, I got over 40 mpg at 60 mph. Can’t beat that.
I have a 2024 trail boss lz0 with about 4000km. Haven’t gone through half a tank of def yet. Average 6-7 L/100 km highway and 11L/100km so far lifetime 80 % city driving. Can’t wait till it breaks in fully. Tows our 33’ travel trailer like a dream. And btw my best 40km was 5.8l/100
To further my comment, I now have just over 8000 km, about 3.5 gallons of def. Just did a 360 km ride and economy was 6.6L/100 km with cruise set at 100 kph and that’s in the hilly terrain of northwestern Ontario. Just towed our 8300lb trailer to camp and economy was 17L/100 km. My 08 Silverado would be 35-38L/100
We bought a 2024 little D. We Like that!! 7800 miles and no issues with oil. Shifting I had a boo boo I got confused and I bumped my rear bumper. Damn it. I don’t like the auto kill and start. I wish I could delete or pull a fuse. Overall me and the wife love our new truck.
Just SUBBED & looking forward to videos on the LZ0. I've had mine about 4 months now & just did the first oil change tonight. I opted out on free oil change & put AMSOIL in mine after positive research. I average 24 to 26 mpg usually w/ a tonneau cover & my best was 38 with a tail wind. Honestly it's the best truck I've ever owned to date. One long trip so far with mountain climbing & it got 31 mpg. I love my Little D. 😂
Nice!! I'm debating just doing the oil change myself too vs the free one. I do all the oil and general maintenance on our vehicles anyways, I need to look into which oil to use. Little D gang 😎🤣
@@LifeofBliss It wasn't bad. Everything is very accessible. Some claim better mpg running Amsoil so I'm hoping for the best. I already get better than most it seems but I have the X31 package which sits a little lower. The claim to fame is Amsoil is 100% synthetic oil & others only need to have 25% to legally claim a Full Synthetic oil. Just changed out the BREAK IN oil yesterday so to soon to say. I've read others claiming quieter but I can't tell any difference but it is a LZ0. Let's face it, how can a diesel that sounds like a gas sound any quieter? Actually it might be quieter than a 6.2 which would make it quietest little D too. 🤔 😅 😳 😏 😂🤣
Great review! I never had a diesel either. I’m on the fence of getting a 2025 Yukon Denali Duramax XT or the 2025 Suburban with the Duramax. Cant make my mind up 😉
I recommend taking it on the highway a little bit more. Your truck will regen when your dpf gets full (80-90%). City trips and idling, like stopping at red lights, will cause your dpf to fill up faster, causing more regens. Another thing that helps reduce the amount of regen cycles is making sure the truck actually gets to operating temps. I have a ram 1500 ecodiesel and I didn't know this stuff when I bought it. Glad I know it now, and obviously, my truck is different than yours so maybe it won't be as much of an issue but still something to look into. Good luck and that's a mighty fine Little D!😂
Read the Owner's Manual (online full Owner's Manual not the quick start guide in glove box) on tailgate operation. I have a 2024 SLT trim and it can electrically lock out the upper tailgate so you can't accidentally hit the trailer hitch. My 2020 SLT did not have this feature.
I need the Max tow for our 10K flat bed trailer. The thing you have to be careful of on all half tons is the payload. You normally will run out of payload before you run out of tow capacity. We have a max tow Ford F150 with the CoyoteV8, and it has performed well. However, we do enough driving that this Baby Max might be a better fit for our needs. In our part of the country, diesel is usually only 20 to 40 cents more per gallon than regular gas.
Had the same issue with the upper glove box. There is a service letter out on that and the dealer fixed mine. Works well now. I just turned 12000 miles and love my AT4. Long trip ( 2400 miles) I averaged 28 mpg running 70-75 mph. Also towed, short trip, but tired 7500 pounds like it wasn’t even there. No oil consumption noticed here either. Here’s to the next 12,000 miles!
I pick up a 6.2L Sierra AT4 on Monday for a 2 year lease. Just want to have fun for a little bit with that 6.2 but my plan is to get into a Duramax Sierra afterwards.
Picked up my first diesel as well last month; 23 Silverado 1500 Baby Duramax, after a Tahoe 5.3 (swapped to a 6L) since 2005. Only have 800 miles, but love it. Power for days, and getting 29 mpg. $5.60/gallon for Top Tier at Costco here in Sacramento. And I did wonder what that foul odor was a couple times now, so now I know. The auto steps will be next. I quickly added the VanTrue Pro N4 dash cam, which has already caught some after hours shenanigans.
@@mowcowbellEverything here in CA is ridiculously overpriced. The refineries are ‘literally’ 75 miles south of me, and paying the same price as in Hawaii.
Got a 2023 Chevrolet LT with LZO in February this year have 37,000 with 0 issues average 28+ mpg but with new 6 in lift on 35s I still average around 24 mpg and tows 11,000 trailer with mini excavator like a monster and truck still says 15mpg amazing truck
I was worried the towrating was a little low. Ivd got a 7000lb trailer I was considering towing with this truck but fairly often but was worried. Sounds like I don't need to worry...
@@drewkring9600 yeah it squats but with a drop hitch leveling out the truck it rides good and doesn’t even bounce but if you are riding stock you need a ball that’s up an inch or a little more
Love it. Towed about 7000 lbs the other day. Plenty of power, rode great. Suspension is a bit bouncy getting a trailer on there, but overall pulled much better than our escalade with the 6.2L
My 2011 with the 6.2 recommends that you use premium, so I do and in North Georgia it is higher than diesel by $.30 a gallon or more. My truck is AWd and gets 16-17 at 75 mph. My dad just bought a 2024 Silverado with the LZ0 and I got 28.6 on the interstate stretch going 75-80 the whole time and 30.4 on a 4 lane highway at 60-70 or so. His truck went 290 miles and used less than half a tank of diesel. I figured the fuel cost of driving my wife's van to Florida and back with regular gas and 22-23 mpg and the diesel truck still has a lower fuel cost than the van. My dad is getting up in age, so the truck will outlast his ability to drive, so I will be his driver and may try to buy his truck in 3-4 years. The only problem is, I love my 2011 Sierra Denali. It fits me like a glove, and I have a custom stereo that is amazing, but that Bose system in the 2024 High Country has decent sound quality for long trips.
It's definitely a nice truck man. I loved my Avalanche I sold a few years back. Same situation. Fit perfect, custom stereo... But I settled into this new one pretty quick. They newer tech is super nice and still pretty easy to integrate into for aftermarket amps. I'll be doing that later this summer with all Stereo Integrity gear.
Thanks for making this video! I'm currently truck shopping to replace my tow rig, and im really interested in this 3.0l. So far it sounds like a great option! Just wish these trucks werent so danged expensive.
Hold down the top button on the tailgate for about 10 seconds or more with the key in your possession. This will lock the top of the multipro tailgate.
I have the 2020 GMC AT4 with the 3.0L and 23K miles, great motor, great mileage, best 50 miles 34.3 MPG, since I left the dealership in Aug 2020, 24.8 MPG, I will but another without a second thought, 2025 AT4X AEV with the 3.0L, according to the Getty Adventures, he is a diesel mechanic, his research is that the babby D-Max has had little to no emission issues unlike RAM. DEF consumption is a non issue, I fill it at the pump, stopped using the box stuff.
Drove about 12k miles on mine with at least 4K of towing 27’trailer at 5,000 lbs My thoughts..easy to service, I am not a huge fan of the plastic housed canister fuel filter. Oil change is a breeze. Take an extra jug or two of DEF when towing long distance. I get 26-28 mpg highway in my trailboss lzo. I would like to add airbags but so far it’s been a solid truck and starts great in the cold and warms up fairly quickly. The engine brake works but on a 3 liter engine you don’t get a whole lot of hold back, but it is sufficient for the truck in my opinion.
I bought a 23 Denali with the LZ0 and I have roughly over 3,300 miles currently. Not unusual for me to squeeze 600 miles out of a tank (on a long trip that is). During my short daily commute to work and a little in between with errands, a tank of diesel will last me almost a month. Also let me know if you happen to check your oil, I heard these things come with an extra quart from the factory. They tend to burn a little bit in the first 20,000 miles from what I've researched. I checked mine at around 2,000-2,500 and it hasn't burned any. I'm thinking the climate you drive in could also be a factor as well.
Great video and nice truck what turned me away from the at4 is they do not allow for the upgraded Max to 373 gears and no column shifter, however both of these are available on the elevation , that's one thing I hate about GMC their package options are all over the place and to get one thing you have to get 10 others you don't want and vice versa
In the 6.2L v8 they recommend premium fuel, so the comparison to gas should be comparing diesel vs premium if you're choosing between those two engines (for the Suburban, Yukon, etc). So if you're gonna be paying for premium as you should, then the prices are a lot more comparable. Likely gonna get a duramax on my next SUV purchase.
Man I thought long and hard about this motor but ultimately went gas as I put less then 10k miles a year on my vehicle so I figured the savings wouldn't be worth the additional headaches. Gotta say though, it's a smooth running, torquey and great sounding motor! Congrats.
I've owned the 6.2 and 5.3 the only "headache" over the other two is adding DEF. DEF jugs are the most worthless garbage made by man. They fill up with air bubbles and splash DEF everywhere.
That's what I've seen people comment about the most, emissions. I do mixed driving, a lot of shorter trips with some solid 1 hour trips once or twice a week. Hopefully it'll do ok
Untrue about the tail gate feature. You need to get the B&W hitch. Make sure it's the model that says it's compatible with the pro tail gate. Game changer! It's cut in a way that allows you to use your tail gate as intended.
The oil burning will happen once you’re towing some distance and 5k Lbs on average. As for fuel cost Diesel here in South FLA is less then Premium gasoline as you use in the 6.2 motor. And when towing HWY you can fuel up at truck stops that accommodate towing and get yourself a Diesel fuel card that will save money at the pump. Now using DEF when towing on average above 5k lbs increases consumption. So if you’re regularly towing get yourself a 3/4 ton Diesel preferably less DEF and little better MPG’s when towing only. And if like me camping with an RV a few times year only. Then I can live easily with 3.0 Duramax. But would not want anything to do with a 6.2 that should be fueling with Premium gas only. Makes no sense unless you want to drive an Escalade and your budget doesn’t blink.. lol. I’m towing RV & Payload 6,200LBS for a big trip less weight for weekend trips. F150 2.7 9.5 MPG’s @ 64 mph.
The fuel prices where I live, it goes back and forth for which is more. Right now, gas is about 20 -30 cents more than diesel. Plus some places have Def at fuel pumps
I've been averaging 30 mpg & my best in the 50 mile setting is 44 mpg. Little D is where it's at 💯 I use about one jug of DEF from Costco every 5000 miles which is every oil change. I did my first oil change even though it was free but I didn't want them messing with the computer. I've heard stories from Dodge guys that purchased those Eco Diesels new so I didn't want to take any chances. I also am running Amsoil oil & I do think it helped mpg a tad. I need to get me a Little C to go with my Little D like you have. 😂
I’m buying this truck very soon and I’m debating which motor to get and as of right now I’m leaning toward the 3.0 duramax but I’ve always had the 5.3 or the 6.2. I’m not sure which I’m gonna buy but will see… God Bless.
Was planning on getting this refresh 1500 but went with the new 2500 at4 liked the looks better and bed length. Once I put on a 3 inch cognito lift, wheels and tires she will be looking boss!
Your mileage will get WAY better after the engine is fully broken in, which takes 5000 miles according to GM. Also, GM/Opel designed this engine to have the most reliable light duty diesel emissions system on the market. If you search it online, there haven't been any emissions issues reported with either LM2 or LZ0 engines. The key is to use a quality fuel additive to improve the lubricity and cleaning of our poor quality diesel here in the US.
@@michaelduenas1364 There are many excellent diesel additives for ongoing use in every tank... Hot Shots, Stanadyne, Archoil, Opti-Lube, etc. I use Hot Shots because it's affordable. I also use their deep cleaning formula once every few thousand miles.
I got a 21 sierra with the LM2, and love it. Only issue I've had so far is the LONG CRANK no start issue. It's very common in the LM2, but it happens like once out of 500 starts. And dealer did update to ECM to help with the issue. I really like you "baby D" 😂 I wish I got the AT4 package, but only got the SLE with everything else maxxed out.
Yea I read that was an issue with the LM2 as well. And wiring harness issues... looks like they resolved those few things with the LZ0 but a lot still complain about oil consumption. Hoping we both have long term reliable vehicles!!
Fuel prices are the opposite where I live. Diesel is $1.05 cheaper than premium gas, which is what I use in my 6.2L. I have a 2024 3.0L on order so I'm expecting a significant reduction in the cost of fuel.
LifeofBliss, how hard was it to find a GMC with a 6'7" bed? I looked for ages and dealers told my dad they could not get a Chevrolet with a 6'7" bed, but I kept looking on Autotrader and found one in Lakeshore Blue, the color my dad wanted ,about 300 miles from home.
Took 2 weeks of searching before I found one. I was very specific with mine too. Color, AT4, and long bed. Found one 2 hours away, worth the work though
Very nice! I have the 2023 Chevy Silverado High Country- I ordered a GMC Sierra just like yours, but then learned that I could get the Max Tow Package with the LZ0, but only in the High Country. By the way, the diesel engine is an LZ0 (LZzero), not an LZO (LZoh). Most people don’t realize the difference between letters and numbers.
Yea I've towed at least about 7k. Motor doesn't rev too crazy high on hills, but you'll lose a few mph if you're not on it. As expected though. I felt it did much better than the 6.2l gas towing.
How do these AT4 hold up with city driving (3.0 vs 5.3)? My commute is a maximum of 10 miles, but is 100% city. I currently own a 2023 Tundra (8,500 mi). I love the truck, but the premature engine failures have me concerned. Dealers aren't even accepting 22/23 trades because of the issue and toyota dealerships can't sell impacted inventory until their is a fix. I bought the extended warranty because i planned to have this 15 years but not if an engine blows!
Good video! Mine had the upper glove box issue too and I use it for all the registration and insurance stuff so I wanted it to work. Little 220 sand paper to the male latches and it flies open like a wild banshee!…. Literally…
I was so close to getting the Silverado variant of this truck. But.... I do way to many short 1 mile trips I ended up with the 5.3 ltz. To many short trips on diesel was concerning being old school. But who knows how newer diesels react to this. But your right. I average 16 mpg City and Hwy. But a long road trip in that truck would be nice.
This is so funny, I’ve got the same exact black At4. The only thing I don’t like about my truck is every time I get out, it feels like I’m breaking the edge of my seat slowly. Everything else I absolutely love about my truck. I’m a general contractor, unfortunately I have to drive a lot. I got it in September. I already have over 9000 miles on it. One more thing I absolutely despise about it, is the auto stop. I already kind of formed a habit, every time I start it I also press the auto stop button. Fuel consumption is constantly 26-28.
I felt the exact same way about the seat. I threw on some running boards on from Boost Auto that are awesome ruclips.net/video/IhEQ-8e7opI/видео.html Can't stand the auto stop myself!
Enjoyed Video, thanks! Been eyeing a little D for some time now. Looking to see if LZO motor refresh resolved plaguing issues. Curious to confirm what the tow rating actually is for the 2023 LZO 3.0 and, if you've done any moderate to "heavier" towing? Mpg? Thanks.
Tow rating depends on a few options for the trucks. I think they normally can tow about 8,300 lbs, and the max tow package (usually a custom build you have to order) is closer to about 13,000 lbs. I haven't towed anything substantial yet! But here in about a month I'll probably load up my 20ft trailer with our sxs and a few other things and just go drive around to see how it does. Will make a short video on the experience.
@@LifeofBliss Awesome, look fwd to that video. I too have a 20ft trailer - small toy hauler. Dry weight is about 4,600lbs, but fully loaded with gear, water and side by side is closer to 8,500-9k lbs. Curious of both the handling and MPG. I've been renting half ton 5.7L gas V8's, Dodge and Toyota which pull fine, but only get 7-8mpg. Rented the Nissan XD5.0L Cummins towed AMAZING, but they both quit manufacturing and servicing. Trying to find a better fit for sub 10k lbs towing efficiency. Thanks again for you video and reply.
From what I've seen, these 3.0s are fantastic for the weight range we'd be towing. Shoot I've seen a few guys haul 2-3 cars on a car hauler with these trucks. Without the max tow. I wouldn't do that personally.... but I've seen it lol. Update will be coming on my experience

100miles burns 1gal DEF when towing ~4K lbs
Huge difference
What is your payload capacity and which trim? Been eyeing one but trying to keep my payload over 1800lb. Thanks!
@williamumbach592 I have noticed a major increase in def used when towing. Towing a 5k lb boat about 1000 miles used around 1/3 of a tank of def.
@@ConrailBostonLineHOLayout my payload on a crew cab short bed 4x4 LT trim is 1906lbs.
Nice video. We have 23 SLT and frequently get low 30's mpg. When you are looking at fuel costs its easy. Diesel here $3.90/28 mpg = .14 per mile. Gas $3.20/16 mpg = .20 per mile ! Hope this helps
John
What does a diesel mechanic per hour cost versus a gas mechanic cost? What does a diesel part cost versus a gas part cost?
@@mahkato1I did a ton of figuring and maintenance cost isn’t substantially higher with the LZO overtime. Yes you have a fuel filter change and DEF to manage here and there but there’s no significant difference in oil or filter changes.
We have a 2022 Yukon 4x4 with the LM2 and it has been a killer power plant. Ours is just at 24k miles and have had zero issues.
Have a 21 with 50000 miles still love the truck
Only fill up with DEF about every oil change and I tow a utility trailer often
The only real issue I’ve had was addressed this week at the dealer an oil leak coming from the dip stick tube
I've got 5000 miles on my lzo never burnes oil did my first oil change at 2000 now I'm running amsoil still have the original def that they filled it with .
Awesome. I'll probably go with amsoil as well, seems to be the popular alternative to GMs oil.
That’s all I put in my 2023 1500 Denali is Amsoil. Great stuff!
Happy 3.0!
Just got the 2022 Silverado w 3.0duramax. Absolutely love. 24 miles to the gallon. I’ll never go back to gasoline.
Its been great so far.i keep the def full when it gets down to half i fill it back up
Hold the top button on your tailgate for three seconds and it’ll lock it, preventing it from opening when you drop it down onto your hitch.
Yessir, got that on lock now 😉
Great video.
Looking forward for more content like these one I just got a RST with the 3.0 and I’m loving it. Swap from a 5.3 to a 3.0 big difference
Thinking about getting a new 2024 AT4 and you have helped in that decision.
Yea I'll probably try to do something similar myself. I'd rather work on my own truck than the dealer if I can help it
I have a deleted and tuned 2017 Ram 6.7L (420 hp / 850ft/lbs) and average 21.5 mpg. Love my diesel!
Hell yea, can't beat that man! I need to look into that hitch...
Same for me on my 2023. Lovin the mileage. It pulls like a tank when needed. My first diesel and love it. On one loop on a flat highway, I got over 40 mpg at 60 mph. Can’t beat that.
I have that hitch and you just roll them underneath the bumper, so easy
Love the truck! I just purchased my first diesel truck. Got me a 2024 rst silverado 3.0 and I love it.
just a quick FYI, you can lock out the secondary deploy of the tailgate . hold both buttons for 8 seconds . only the tailgate will deploy . Thanks
I believe it's only the top button ypu have to hold, but yes there is a lock out on it which is super handy
That was my best too in a 2024 in perfect conditions, average is 8.5 but mostly highway and some city
To further my comment, I now have just over 8000 km, about 3.5 gallons of def. Just did a 360 km ride and economy was 6.6L/100 km with cruise set at 100 kph and that’s in the hilly terrain of northwestern Ontario.
Cant make my mind up 😉
Nice review of the Little D! I always liked that turbo whine on my friends GMC when it spools up. Is that an aftermarket thing? Sounds pretty cool!!
3.0 Duramax Diesel is the best engine option for this truck. Great choice.
BW makes a hitch that works with the multipro tailgate
I have the B&W on mine. I flip it around, and there are no issues.
In Canada warranty only covers up to 60,000 km doesn’t matter if you have extended warranty or not. Doesn’t cover the emissions portion past 60,000km
Nice info! Thanks man, here's to another 12k trouble free! 🍻
Nice! I'll look into that dish cam...
Yikes on diesel prices there! Diesel here in OK is $3.49/gal.
@@mowcowbellEverything here in CA is ridiculously overpriced. The refineries are ‘literally’ 75 miles south of me, and paying the same price as in Hawaii.

@@drewkring9600 yeah it squats but with a drop hitch leveling out the truck it rides good and doesn’t even bounce but if you are riding stock you need a ball that’s up an inch or a little more
That's awesome man. I'm definitely looking into a 6-9 inch lift in a year or two. Gotta pay her off first lol
How you still liking your truck?
Love it. Towed about 7000 lbs the other day. Plenty of power, rode great. Suspension is a bit bouncy getting a trailer on there, but overall pulled much better than our escalade with the 6.2L
Man I can’t wait for my AT4 Duramax to arrive!
We have a 2022 AT4 with the 3.0. Best running truck I have ever owned. No issues at 10,000 miles. The trans is so smooth
Yes!! The transmission is incredibly smooth! I meant to mention that in the video...
Yea I knew it did that, just wasn't thinking when I had the hitch on 😅
I have the 2020 GMC AT4 with the 3.0L and 23K miles, great motor, great mileage, best 50 miles 34.3 MPG, since I left the dealership in Aug 2020, 24.8 MPG, I will but another without a second thought, 2025 AT4X AEV with the 3.0L, according to the Getty Adventures, he is a diesel mechanic, his research is that the babby D-Max has had little to no emission issues unlike RAM.
Nice, thank you for the info! I'm looking forward to doing a little more hauling to see how it does vs our '16 escalade with the 6.2L
Yea their package deals are kinda odd... I'd love the max towing but honestly it's not a necessity for me. More of a just in case situation
@@davidporter7051How about stalling and cranking? That concerns me
Thank you for this video. I am looking to get one and your comments help me a lot. Thanks!😊
I've got the LM2 in my 21'.... I get 24MPG average combined. It's by far the best motor out there for a halfton truck.
The emissions system is the only issue I've had... But I think it comes when ReGen is cut short... All errors went away after a few miles of driving.
Then I can
live easily with 3.0 Duramax.
Nice! Little C? I'm missing the reference which really bothers me lol
I’m buying this truck very soon and I’m debating which motor to get and as of right now I’m leaning toward the 3.0 duramax but I’ve always had the 5.3 or the 6.2. I’m not sure which I’m gonna buy but will see… God Bless.

What fuel additive do you recommend and how frequent
@@michaelduenas1364 There are many excellent diesel additives for ongoing use in every tank... Hot Shots, Stanadyne, Archoil, Opti-Lube, etc. I use Hot Shots because it's affordable. I also use their deep cleaning formula once every few thousand miles.
Well done; an open comparison between 3.0 and 6.2! With a fun attitude!
Congrats on the new truck! I'm also considering switching from a gas GMC over to the new LZ0. I hope it's still doing well for you!
Fuel prices are the opposite where I live. Diesel is $1.05 cheaper than premium gas, which is what I use in my 6.2L. I have a 2024 3.0L on order so I'm expecting a significant reduction in the cost of fuel.
Can u imagine this truck as a plug in hybrid with a 50 mile battery only range! It would reduce diesel use by 90% for most people.
Huh ? Joking - right ?
B&W makes a hitch specifically for the multipro tailgate that does not hit when opened
Great... now I have something I need to buy 😅
Take a heat gun heat locking latch front tip little bit. It will work flawless.
Trying that today lol. Thank you!!
Hmmmm - pull the "stick" back to go forward and push forward to go in reverse?
Yea... took a little getting used to

Very cool! Yea its a zero, not an o. Just easier to say o vs zero every time lol. Call me lazy, but I'm stickin to it 😉
Been debating on getting the LZ0 instead of the 5.3…Such a hard choice
I can’t think of any advantages of getting the 5.3. Can you?
Dude... 3.0 all day. If you were debating between the 3.0 and 6.2 gas, maybe more of a discussion.
Great video on the Little D. Very detail and helpful.
have you towed 7k-8k on the highway and in the hills? Wondering how it does maintaining speed and rpms! TY
Literally…
I need advice. Should I trade my 2024 sr5 tundra for the 3.0 GMC?
Great truck! Could you share some insights on the maintenance and additional upkeep involved when switching from gas to diesel?
Nice vid. We are currently shopping for a Sierra with the "Lil" D engine.
Thanks man! Im here at dealership now, they are rushing to get it back to me asap. Hope it works fine after this.
I take a lot of 5-6 mile trips bringing the kids to school and back home. Guess we'll see how it does long term...
I'm sure it will be fine .
Great video. Considering the Duramax in my next GMC, so this was helpful
I threw on some running boards on from Boost Auto that are awesome ruclips.net/video/IhEQ-8e7opI/видео.html
Can't stand the auto stop myself!

Awesome, look fwd to that video.
Which issues?
I'm going to be pulling the trigger in the spring on a chevy Silverado 3.0 Duramax can't wait . awesome trucks
Do it!!!
@LifeofBliss I'm going to pull the trigger on a chevrolet silverado with the trigger in the spring, because my wife and I are waiting on an settlement check. Can't wait to go to the Chevrolet dealer to finally get my new truck.
Great video. Touched on everything that i feel is important to potential buyers!
Nice video any updates on reliability? Im looking at a 2024 zr2.
I can get either 6.2 or 3.0 lz0 for close to the same price
3500 miles, hasn't skipped a beat. No oil burning after oil change and 750 miles. More videos coming in the next few weeks
Good video! Mine had the upper glove box issue too and I use it for all the registration and insurance stuff so I wanted it to work. Little 220 sand paper to the male latches and it flies open like a wild banshee!…. Literally…😂
Congrats on the new wheels!
there's two types of regens. Active and Passive. You only experience a passive regen while driving or idling.
