@@midi510it’s pretty debatable that the spin to win tricks have no style, so at least to the judges they really don’t need both. Despite X Games being all about “expression” their scoring has always been about checking boxes and never about “style.”
@@joemarais7683 A really basic way to score would be to give a score (like 1 - 10) for difficulty and one for style, then multiply them. Say you get an 8 for style and a 9 for difficulty. Total would be 72. To avoid a lot of ties, you could allow tenths, like a 7.6 or whatever. If I consider a gnarly line or cliff drop, I factor the likelihood of something going wrong with the severity of the consequences. I don't give it a number, but the concept is there. High probability of something going wrong in conjunction with severe consequences, factor the necessity for a high reward. (This example is for the factoring process only.) Mad respect to Alex for this, I totally agree. But I also had the feeling that Alex didn't manage to perform what he actually wanted to show. I imagine butter-frontflips after landing from the knuckle, Alex definitely has that down. Unfortunately it seemed as if he didn't find the sweet spot in the speed for the approach. That's why I don't think the judges' decision was that wrong.
Gotta love Alex for going stylish rather than spin to win. I mean a variation of both pretty big spins and mega style (henny or elias syrjä) is what i love and i hope to see them again here. Those 2160 were sick and clean but next year if that same trick is gonna win and someone is throwing some insane stylish smaller rotations im gonna be pissed.
When I 1st watched the X games, it was the 900 that was the crazy trick. Now, these athletes are doing 2160s. 😱🤯 Is there any room left to spin more than a 2160 and still land it? They are nearly landing at the very bottom.

Ed’s first run was the coolest rotation combo I’ve ever seen
A Hall is a g for trying to incorporate the un-spin into big air comps. Guess the judges weren’t ready for it yet this year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Style has to support technical difficulty. You could see it the other way around, but you need both.

Mac's 2160 was PERFECT. Insanely difficult AND stylish.
antoine took that fall like a champ yeeeeesh
Well deserved by Mac, fighting for the win and putting down that perfect 2160 with a hard grab held all the way. So impressive from everyone.

Bigger jump 🤷🏻♂️
I did not think it was possible to grab and stomp a forward 2160 as well as Mac did.
Now, I can imagine 2340s as well...
He had enough air for at least one more 180. 🤯
seems like all the haters finally got to A Hall always calling him a try hard and dissing his win last year and he finally just gave up...
That 2160s is insane
They are doing 2160 and i can't even do a clean 360... Maximum Respect.
Amazing competition, such high level skiers 🔥 would have been the cherry on top if Henrik was competing
from a snowboarder, this competition was way more intense than snowboard big air this year.
Where was Henrik?
These guys are fearless
this is the best big air comp since henrik harlaut did the NB Triple Cork
As a steep’s player, I don't understand anything about the sport, but I like to watch this... It's relaxing 😂😂
track name plz at 42:00
Alex won it for me off the bat
I laughed so hard that he did a cork 180 what a baller

Which skis does matej use?
