You cant really go as fast on a quarter mile drag race, and doing the full mile gets you too fast for safety if someone slips up.

Tanner had the most pure car with its rwd and proper manual transaxel (the only to my mind Lamborghini has had the decency to make in recent history) so even if he was 7 mph slower than the fastest, he wins in my book

but tanner had the slowest lambo the murcielago sv is way faster off the lune the the gallardo cuz the gallardo takes 3.6 secs to get to 60 and the murcielago sv does it in 2.7 second so rutledge should have reavhed about 186mph if he shifted in time and that says one thing ; hecant drive. tanner is the best cuz he knows wat hes doin
You still have to think about 0 to 100 and how much torque the car has because when you run out of torque your done and won't go any faster and if you have the guts to push yourself to almost 200 mph and when you get going that fast you have to be really steady when you drive because on small slip up and you more than likely die

What if i told you that TG:UK and TG:US aren't the same thing? TG:UK is more humorous and funny. Meanwhile, the TG:US is more informative and accurate about the cars that they drive.

These THREE don't know how to drive Lamborghini's! All of these cars are 200 mph super cars except for the Murcielago SV which can go up to 360 kph about 222 mph. If a race car driver is the one driving these Lambos it will hit 200 mph!

You've gotta understand that this was the first episode of TG US, and only Tanner is a professional driver. If you were given a $300 grand supercar I don't think you would want to risk it just for the sake of xxx top speed.

Depends on the course or road to show the cars top speed.
The Gallardo LP570-4 SuperLeggera can achieve 200mph 325kph, Are you joking me? The Murcielago LP670-4 SV can achieve 340 kph roughly 215mph but an independent road test by youngsters one of the videos here in youtube attempted 3 runs on a LP640 dangerously in a long stretch road and achieved 360kph in the third run and mind this is STOCK ENGINE! Yes These cars can achieve 200mph why doubt about it?
Well if the other drivers are novice they should have let the professional driver do the job.

There is one HUGE reason why Top Gear UK is 200000 times better than Top Gear US.
Top Gear UK is natural. Even if the sequences are scripted, the hosts often use their own words and sometimes I think write their own dialogue, and some sections like parts of challenges and specials are strictly improvised.
Top Gear US is far from natural. You can tell that these guys rehearsed the script a few times and went out there speaking someone else's dialogue. Also unnnatural body movement for the talk.
oh my friend i agree, this new "top gear" kinda sucks, REALLY sucks in my opinion but, it has nothing to do with a country, just the show.
You do know that this show is produced by the same people that do the original, right? This isn't some American scheme to rip off a classic British icon, this is the Brits expanding into the American market. It's like McDonald's in reverse. Now, of course we know that with different hosts this show is never going to be as entertaining, but dammit, I'm tired of seeing car reviews of Renaults and Peugeots. The US car culture is very different, and we need our own show, regardless of the name.
Much prefer the UK top gear but they both have different ideals. I feel the UK one is more for comedic value while the US series is an attempt to emulate the original, while being more tailored towards the American public that are interested in cars. Take what you want from my comment, but I'm sure you can connote what I am implying.

This show is GREAT! (Note to the Brits...see, it is possible to use another descriptive word other than "brilliant"). Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Top Gear U.K., but Top Gear U.S. is a great, great show too!

Check the specs. The Reventon under the skin was basically a dressed up LP640-4. A LP670-4 SV can eat the LP640-4 for breakfast. The Reventon makes exactly the same power as the LP640-4.
Dude, go to school and work on your spelling. And I think a regular European or Asian or Australian driver would change gear much better than a professional American driver.

i think it has more to do with the 3 announcers. TG uk had some bad ones too before mays, hamster filled out the ranks but listening to Tanner Fouste for some reason isnt fun
If you come expecting it would be as good as TopGear UK, it will suck. Think of it as a completely different show and it won't suck so much.

Well, I never said American was a race, what I meant was that people in the U.S. don't like it when our own brother races don't take the time to see our creation, as a Top Gear fan I find it unfair that I watched praised The U.K. version(even when Jeremy threw the occasional U.S. joke)

How to make a successful car-show:
- Get some guys that do know about cars history
- Get someone that has some respect of what he is testing
The Super Leggera uses compounds that compete the materials used in F1. Needless to say they are more exotic than what is normally used in the aviation industry. Additionally the amount of research spent on the aerodynamics of these cars is more than what other companies spend on the whole car.
In overall, their comments made me lose my respect to them
This can't be right, I really know my cars, especially my lambos. The SV is one of the fastest lambos out there, it won't simply be beaten by a gallardo, and lets not forget what the gallardo is meant to be, they call it the "baby lambo" which means a cut down, cheaper, smaller version of the real thing. These people are surposed to be professional car reviewers, but if they don't understand this logic, I don't think they are worthy of reviewing these cars.
u need to do a jet ski challenge each of u by a jet ski that u think is the best and put them to the test Test #1 push them to there top speeds and see who can go the fastest. Test #2 race through a course and u have to dodge obstacles Test #3 take them to the ocean and jump them over waves but u have to test whos jet ski has the most comfortable land. PLEASE READ AND PUT THIS ON THE SHOW AND IF U DO U CAN CHANGE THE CHALLENGES

I've not watched enough episodes of the US top gear to make a fair judgement, but thats because they use the same forumla, like u say, as the UK show, except its more contrived and no where near as well executed. I think the UK show deserves its worldwide notoriety and success, as much as the US show deserves to be slated.
programming will improve as a result of people pointing out the flaws in certain shows. one might assume you're defending it for nationalistic reasons.
OK, so if you're a tough gear head/car lover, you going to tend to like Top Gear UK better, but if you're looking for entertainment and just a laugh, Top Gear USA is a bit better. UK has much more useful knowledge but that also comes at the price of boring scenes. USA is just fun to watch, but don't come looking for advice or a way to compare options in the market.
Both have their appeal. Both great shows.
top gear america is great just everyone is afraid to voice there opinions here because someone may have there fealings hurt so the humor isnt as good as britsh cause they cant make the odd racist comment that if u have a sense of humor u find funny but not if they said something rasict on usa tv itd be all over the news the show would be shut down and everything else thats why its not done as well as uk top gear but its still a good show

I think they know alot about cars but I don't think they are the best drivers and are certainly not natural presenters.
While the UK version is a mix you have got a technical guy in James May and then there is "HAMMER!!!' Jeremy Clarkson. It makes it more unique and then the US presenters are too similar.
I don't see what the big deal was? 175, shit, I did that in my Pantera GTS back in the 70's. The euro-models had 200 mph speedo's on them, unlike the N. American cars. If you want an inexpensive exotic, that is the one to own. An American V8 running through the same ZF transaxle as that used on the original GT40.
I can't even understand why people complain about Top Gear USA. I watched lots and lots of Top Gear UK, but there is no point in comparing them with each other.

Everyone is too fast to jump on this American Top Gear is shit bandwagon. I am sure none of you watched the old British Top Gears like Seasons 1 and 2. Give the American version some time and I am sure it will be just as good. They still talk about cars and everything so any real car guy would stop talking shit on these guys and appreciate the show.
I don't know why TG USA get bad ratings, but I know for sure that if the show wasn't labelled 'TG' it would be significantly better. That said, it's still a fantastic show and you don't have to be a gear head to watch the show. Over time, this show will get even better once the hosts feel more comfortable with each other.

There is too much swearing in this show. I know swearing is never tasteful, but it seems that the UK crew know when and where to use some bleeps for added effect. These guys just say, "fuck fuck fuck fuck," until it loses all meaning.

Oh snap. This is so boring. I attempted to watch this thinking it would be similar to the British Top Gear, but this is just jackasses with cars. It's like King of the Hill, just some unfunny guys standing near a fence talking about the most boring aspects of the entire ordeal.
