    I always budget $100 for after Christmas clearance. I go to target and or michales and buy all my wrapping paper,boxes, bows, tags and other items. I have crafts, Christmas plates , activities and decor items for next year. I have Christmas Eve box stuff for my kids and my two nieces already for next year b

    Funny you mentioned the change in wrapping paper. I saved all the “stuffing” paper from all my packages from online orders. You know, the huge wads of brown or tan paper. Instant wrapping paper for 2021. Lol

    Cute llama shirt Miko! I am still using the $10 Christmas tree my mother bought in 1968!!! It will probably be the only thing my kids will fight over when I die. The only decor I have purchased in the past 5 years are new lights for the tree when the old ones stopped working. My biggest expense is food - we have traditional things we like to eat only once a year - plus the kids get to take home the leftovers and eat well until the new year. I stopped buying for friends and extended family about 5 years ago, and quite frankly they were relieved that SOMEONE said "let's not do this anymore". They do get a tin of my baked goods though. Happy New Year!

    Get your groceries in paper bags and use that for wrapping with fun ribbon. Recycling and can be pretty or rustic looking. Use pinecones from outside to also decorate. I am almost out of my wrapping paper (haven't bought any for over 5 years). I used to buy wrapping paper for .25 a roll after the holidays and ended up with way to much. I think 2021 will be the last year of wrapping paper. Also , one less thing to store in the house.

    Just a recommendation, shop after season for seasonal items typically used. You may save more than DIY.

    Only just found you! :D For the last 4 years I have been making re-usable Christmas Gift bags, in various sizes, using bits of material I had. Last year I found a supplier of beautiful bags & having purchased a Cricut last year I personalised them Inside I put a note, along with the gift that says please return to me if you don't wish to repurpose or reuse yourself. Many have come back to me with their gifts to me inside the following year which is great, they of course will be reused by me again. This has gone down really well amongst my family & friends & some people have started doing this also, the amount of single use paper this has reduced is amazing. Also i have to say it makes wrapping a breeze, takes seconds!!! Last year I started hand painting wooden Gift tags that can be re-used in the same way, especially with family so that's more reduction in waste & less time wrapping. I also make my own cards, that's fun, I like to do that in July (you know that whole Christmas in July thing). I actually do Rudolph Day too, this is where on the 25th of each month you do some actions towards Christmas, so for me because I buy gifts throughout the year I wrap whatever I have bought. I also check my budget, review recipes & plan spending, it means that come December most stuff is done & it's not so stressful. I do have 46 gifts to buy.

    Budget tip 💰 go to goodwill and get children’s books for super cheap! Since they read it and move on and grow and develop so fast it’s a perfect price in my state they are $0.69 for single chapter or picture books and $1.99 for all others!

    This year because if COVID my job is going to payout our unused vacation time. We will get that payment in February. I am going to put it in an online savings account for Christmas. Then the mass majority of our Christmas will be funded. We also get 26 pay checks a year but budget based on two a month. We use those extra third pay checks for Christmas and summer vacation. So I will add that extra pay check to the Christmas fund. We will have an abundance but we can save some for future years.

    You mentioned that you buy Xmas Decorations as a one time expense and will reuse them next Xmas and so on.
    Doesn’t everyone reuse their Xmas Decorations over and over and over again ??
    People don’t throw away and buy new decorations every year do they ?!
    That would definitely waste of money 💰 and wasteful to the environment isn’t it ?!

    • @ering4966
      @ering4966 3 года назад +1

      I know quite a few people who change their theme every year and so buy new stuff each year. Some keep the ‘old stuff’ for future use, a few sell it on marketplace, and one either donates it to a charity or drops it off at the local op shop. Seems excessive to me, but to each their own I suppose.
