How is it possible that a kitchen organization video TAUGHT ME more about my budgeting habits than all I have learned in the last 4 YEARS! I am debt free, but still struggling with how to budget accurately. I LOVE THIS!!
THIS is exactly what I did with my kitchen way back in October 2020. I emptied EVERYTHING. I took out everything off of every single shelf, out of every single cabinet and I took it out to my patio (covered patio) dealing with food first. I threw out at least 4 bags of trash/expired food. For the foods that were still good, unopened, I donated that to a good friend of mine (also on a fixed income) then I went back home, categorized everything in the food, put it up onto my 'pantry' shelves in my dining room and it felt sooooooooooo good to do. I did NOT buy baskets/bins, etc. until I finished all of that stuff. Then I bought baskets/bins and went back home and organized the rest the very same way. I will admit that I did go a teensy bit over board (but not by much) with bins/baskets, but glad that I did. By doing so, those extra bins/baskets, I was able to organize the rest of my candles, canning supplies, etc. I was thankful that I got extras because that meant that I didn't have to go almost 2 hours away to IKEA or a bigger store for those bins/baskets. (Ross/Marshalls/Home Goods) and so I saved money by not having to go back but by planning a little ahead. Either way, I would've used those extra bins/baskets for organizing. Now, it's so easy for me to find things, inventory it, etc. (Except my deep freezer, that one's a pain because the deep freezer is teeny. However, I did get it a few years ago for $25 on Marketplace.) :) Absolutely LOVE this video.
This was stinking cute! Thank you for the peek into your real life. With seeing so many nice kitchens all over social media it was great to see someone with a kitchen as old as mine...and willing to share it!
I LOVED this video! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this REAL LIFE openness. We also live in a small apartment with an old kitchen and as much as I dream about a big open kitchen (one day) it’s great to see an influencer who is also dealing with the same situation. Very relatable ❤️
What Wendi said about the back stock being your little 'store' to shop your back stock from *before* you go grocery shopping is why I started couponing in oh between 2010-2012. I still coupon but not like I use to due to my vision. (And my phone issues.) However, I do have 2 shelves in our building out back, as well as 2 shelves in our dining room (it's small, trust me. your entire kitchen is bigger than mine...lol) and I use the 2 shelves in our kitchen primarily for food and back stock food. I rotate it every time I add to it. I put the older stuff (not expired-that gets trashed) to the front (aka: front facing in retail) and the newer stuff in the back. Thank God I've done this for so long because it's truly helped to supply us with food and cut our grocery budget during the past several plus years but especially during the last year 1/2. And I make sure to also date my dry goods too of their exp. dates in my back stock. Can you show how you organized your back stock? I used bins/baskets from Dollar Tree, Ikea, (they had certain ones I wanted-$2.50-$10 but I didn't need too many from Ikea), Marshalls, Ross, TJ Maxx, Home Goods and a place out here called DD's. (Sister store to Ross). Now that I *know* which labels to use, I can now label my baskets. (Yeah, I haven't gotten that far yet...I left that for last due to other things going on.)
I highly agree on drastically cutting your food budget and end up failing. My happy number for grocery shopping is $60 for the week. I tried cutting it back to $40 and it was ridiculously hard and annoying lol. I could barely get what I truly wanted and I kind of just “settled” with what I bought and didn’t enjoy anything. So I always budget $60 because that a great number to buy my essentials AND get the stuff I want to buy for my meal planning and fun snacks for work.
I hope there’s a continuation for this, I really benefited from this video and I’m really curious about How Wendi would organize actual kitchen tools/appliances
I havent tackled my entire kitchen yet but I did spend half an hour organizing the cabinet where we keep our OTC meds, my prescriptions and I fill my pill box every week. The tip to use bins to keep like items together is a life saver 😁 I dont know why it didnt occur to me before. My weekly fill the pill box routine takes half the time and I have all of my extras in one place so I know when I need refills (some are 30 day supplies and some are 90 day supplies and I have run out before). Thank you so much for this video 🥰
Miko !! Mix regular, old fashioned oats to your sweetened oatmeal, I was doing exactly what you were doing, I would end up tossing the healthy version. So I went to Walmart and got the big tub of the regular quaker old fashioned oats. I throw about 2-3 tablespoons to 1 pack of the 50% less sweet variety. Way less sweet this way and so much better for you. Hope this helps !!💜💜💜💜
I was going to say the same thing. Just a baggie of regular oats + a bit of brown sugar. Can recuse baggies and for like 6months worth of breakfast its like $4.
I love to have my kitchen/pantry organized. Labels facing forward always. Fridge/freezer organized too Hubby thinks I'm nuts lol. I recently did a clean out and donated stuff we aren't eating. Having your pantry organized helps with food planning and grocery budget!
Such a strange (and late to the game comment) but I feel like a mirror over the sink would really open up this space. Thank you for sharing a real version of how to organize. I am so tired of the perfection.... I want to see a house like mine.
"Durable Brownies"... 🤣🤣🤣 I love it!!!! Ok, so all of a sudden this video is now super important for me because we are downsizing again! Ugh. I know. Hubby and I are moving into our FIRST EVER apartment!!! We're a blended family with SEVEN kids and still have a full house mentality in our kitchen. We went from almost 4000sq to less than 1000. I am super excited and proud of us. We will either choose a unit with a garage or (rent one or a storage unit)... still crunching the #s to decide our next place. Q: Where do we store our large Appliances? Should we purchase a storage shelving unit? We will have room for one.
Just stumbled into this and love the dynamic and the presence you guys showed. It was not tedious to watch it was more like two adults hanging out and having fun getting through your todo list.
Love this! Thank you, and cannot wait to see what you do with the cupcake baking drawer and how you will utilize Wendy's thoughts about showcasing some of those items! Also love your honesty and transparency! It's refreshing to see real perfectly imperfect people! So glad you're not afraid to show that! ~~Lisa
I liked this, thanks!! We are a family of 5 and live in a small 2 bedroom apartment. My kitchen actually has less counter space than yours! We do have a pantry though, so that is a huge plus. I need to reorganize it again. A year or two ago I took everything out of it and got containers on clearance at Target and it really helped, but it has gotten cluttered with expired items and things we just dont use. You hit the nail on the head when you showed things you wish you liked versus what you actually eat. I totally wish I was this super healthy person, but it just isn't realistic for me or my family. Everything in moderation is much easier and cheaper! Cheers to organizing and making small spaces more functional!😊
This is excellent!! I learned so much. Can't wait to go to Dollar Tree n get started in my own kitchen!! Unbelievable.. Thank you both soooooo much!!😻😻😍😍
Omg you are in Spokane! Me too (Spokane Valley) :). Just threw me off when I’m watching this and all of a sudden you say you live in Spokane lol. Great video. Love it because my family is also living in an apartment right now so I can really use these organization tips.
Loved this! It went so fast because it was engaging and extremely interesting! I like Wendy’s style....kind of Marie Kondo meets Do It On A Dime! :) :)
I have been thinking outside the box on setting up my pantry. I cut down a banana box to fit my daycare plates and bowls. I always save baskets or buy them cheaply when I find good ones. Where did she say she found those cat litter pans? I am not sure I have found any that big.
But in all honesty, to keep organized, purchasing a 3$ bottle of crushed red peppers and a $2 bottle of hot sauce will save you space and time and effort and is a little more decadent.
My daughter did not like those juice boxes either. Costco will take those back without the receipt, just with your membership card. You can return most anything you do not like at Costco, except alcoholic beverages.
Hi Kumiko, I love how this video was shot, however as a professional editor I wanted to color correct and light this so badly!! If you ever need a video editor, please let me know. I love your message and would love to help out a fellow badass lady! :)
Where do you get the huckleberry tea? I am originally from the area and my mom/relatives, etc still live in Spokane. I go home to visit a lot and would love to pick some of this tea up. Thank you!

You two are both awesome women! Thanks for doing what you love and sharing with us! Love being organized in finances and my space!💕🥰🌺
I use Dollar Tree wooden clothes pins as chip clips 👍🏽😊
Oh that's a great idea!!
Good idea!
I’m just now seeing this and I LOVE IT! I’m in a small apartment now and this is perfect.

I loved the content and the parallels with financial planning 💜

Katia Mottert hhhhmmmm i will try adding brown sugar to mine, never thought of that!!🤦🏻♀️ thanks for the tip💜
*runs to organize all the things*
She is amazing! Great ideas! I am going to tackle my kitchen today and work on my budgeting of course! Thank you for all you do!
Omg when I saw the teas laid out on the table 😅 story of my life!!

It's strangely nice to see the brands of the food being the same as what I have available to purchase. I can budget on the same groceries. Cool.

can you do a video on dishes, pots, and tupperware organization next please? these are great ideas!

I love this video! Wendi is amazing. Now I have more motivation to work on my own space! Thanks Miko! Kisses from Athens, Greece

So many great ideas! I couldn't help but think how much you could store on top of the cabinets!! lots of space for "backstock"
I do the same thing with my cupcake liners! It is such a cute way to store them!!
I love this, very real and great ideas, thank you for sharing!
This was so much fun to watch. It not only applies to the kitchen for me, it applies to my art space. Love your videos and I can’t wait to see more!
Now I am inspired!!
Great video! Learned some great hacks/tricks which will work in my kitchen. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I love organizing! Did you guys look at expiration dates? Perfect time to do so ✌🏽🧡
Great video! This is the next project I have had on my list. Now Im motivated.
I’m excited for this video haven’t seen it yet but I’m already giving it a thumb up cause I love Your video so much 😍
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ this and so happy it’s affordable options
This is excellent!! I learned so much. Can't wait to go to Dollar Tree n get started in my own kitchen!! Unbelievable.. Thank you both soooooo much!!😻😻😍😍
I liked this a lot. Loved the lazy Susan idea 😊
This was great motivation!! Thank you!

this was such a fun, interesting, educational video! I felt like I was watching HGTV!
Loved this! It went so fast because it was engaging and extremely interesting! I like Wendy’s style....kind of Marie Kondo meets Do It On A Dime! :) :)
I loved this thank you for this video !
Thank you for all the great ideas!
Awsome job girls!!!!!
LOVE THIS VIDEO. GREAT IDEAS.
Really really enjoyed the video from start to finish.
Omg. I loved this video. Thanks so much for doing this
You should hang some open shelves over your sink for more storage. I would put my frequently used dishes on the open shelves.
Hi!!!
Is the chai tea warm or cold? What brand?
Very helpful.
I have been thinking outside the box on setting up my pantry. I cut down a banana box to fit my daycare plates and bowls. I always save baskets or buy them cheaply when I find good ones. Where did she say she found those cat litter pans? I am not sure I have found any that big.
Wow! Very nice!
How dare her that she told you to throw out the crushed red pepper packets. Those are free at the restaurant. 😄
I ‘decant’ my red pepper packets into an upcycled spice jar 👌 save those pennies 🤣
But in all honesty, to keep organized, purchasing a 3$ bottle of crushed red peppers and a $2 bottle of hot sauce will save you space and time and effort and is a little more decadent.
Great video! But you dont have a small kitchen you have a big kitchen!
Thank u! Very helpful!
Miko tfs 💛 great job Wendy!
I hope you gave Wendi a cup of tea ☕️
Good video. The tea powdered tea took up less space in the sealed pack verses the jar though.
Can you link to that pen from Michael’s?
So I too have a ton of protein containers....Where did you end up putting all the protein powder? Is it in the clear container on top of the fridge??
This is so helpful! 👏
I am in the same situation old but I have to make it work
What do u suggest for food where the directions for cooking are on the box?
Rebecca Quayle you can cut out the directions and stick them on the container too.
Miko,Where did you put your pantry items?
Awesome! You e inspired me to tackle my kitchen! ❤️ thanks for sharing!!
My daughter did not like those juice boxes either. Costco will take those back without the receipt, just with your membership card. You can return most anything you do not like at Costco, except alcoholic beverages.
We have about same size kitchen and five kids....
You look so young and have accomplished so much how old are you if you don’t mind my asking
Learned a ton of great tips ... What a great solution to a lazy susan
Hi Kumiko, I love how this video was shot, however as a professional editor I wanted to color correct and light this so badly!! If you ever need a video editor, please let me know. I love your message and would love to help out a fellow badass lady! :)
Maybe I missed it.... but where can we find Wendy? Does she have an Instagram or other social?
Looking for someone to make me good peelable stickers for my plastic envelopes. Can someone help please?
Thank you! This was so helpful.
Where do you get the huckleberry tea? I am originally from the area and my mom/relatives, etc still live in Spokane. I go home to visit a lot and would love to pick some of this tea up. Thank you!
Thank you. We go to Greenbluff to get squash. I will have to put this tea on my list.
Could you tell me what the brand is? I am looking for a dry/powder tea to replace our expensive Herbalife raspberry tea.
I love this but 4'11" me is panicked over everything above the second shelf.
Such is life. You just have to get a step stool and deal. I'm the same height.
You can compost much of that stuff instead of throwing it in the landfill.
Your cupboards are fine. They look normal.
Thank you for this I try to keep myself very organized but I got a lot from this
Miko return the juice boxes to Costco! They will take them back and you will get your money back!
You women's are beautiful and are amazing both have great body and long beautiful hair
This is a great and helpful video. Why not throw away the JUNK food and *keep* the healthy stuff??
Decanting is so wasteful in my opinion clear box in original packaging for small things
I thought you did zero food waste 🤔. Sure doesn’t look like it 🤷🏽♀️
Please buy your son proper chocolate milk. That syrup is nothing but HFCS and nothing of nutritional value.
You shouldn't judge what kind of foods she has . Its the concept of the video that is important.
Oooh nooooo 😱😱😱😂
