    I feel you on the kidney stones. I had never had any issues before and then one day, I was sick like I couldn't believe. I literally thought I must have cancer and was dying. I was calling family to tell them I loved them, because I didn't know why I was in so much pain. It's a pain I don't wish on ANYONE. And then, one day, I'm using the bathroom and "ploop", these little grains came out and fell into the toilet. And from that very moment, I was fine. That's when I realized what it was. And I also realized it was all triggered for me by drinking green tea.
    Hope you both are staying safe and healthy.

      aw, ouch! It feels awful and I wouldn't wish that on anyone! it's good that you figured out what triggers it for you. For me it's usually spicy liquids but still waiting on test results to confirm other details.

    Hi guys, I love your videos. You guys are very inspiring. My wife and I are planning to move to Mexico as well to get back to our roots and just get to know better our culture. But my family is not very supportive with my decision they don’t understand why I want to live in Mexico when they made a sacrifice to come to America. My question is, did you guys get any backlash from any family members When you moved to Mexico?Thanks!

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  Год назад

      We expected lots of backlash from family but actually didn’t get as much as we thought… more so they are curious as to why we made the decision. They feared for us but felt comfort in knowing (or perhaps hoping?) that if it didn’t work out we could always just go back to the US. They didn’t/don’t fully understand it but they now support us as they see how happy we are 😊

    Okay...lots of questions???
    How or what did you do to secure a job in the US? Use your Chicago address? Does employer need to know you're in Mexico? Any job recommendations that pay US dollars? What did you do with all your extra belongings that you are not traveling with? Storage unit? Family's house? Do you still pay for full coverage on your Jeep or is it storage insurance? Do you still have health coverage in the US? Did you buy health coverage in Mexico or just pay out of pocket? Did you keep your US phone number and purchase SIM in Mexico?

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  2 года назад +5

      Wow that is a lot of questions lol
      - found out about an opening through a friend for a 100% remote position
      - yes, we use our illinois address for the job and filing taxes (the house we lived in belongs to a family member, so dealing with mail and whatnot is easy)
      - yes, employer knows we’re in Mexico
      - don’t have any specific company recommendations but you can look into logistics, customer service, IT, etc depending on your skill set and background. Check Indeed and Google for fully remote job openings.
      - sold most of our belongings and kept only things of sentimental value, which we have stored at our parents’ house
      - jeep is stored in family garage. Only storage insurance. We’re thinking about selling it now.
      - no healthcare coverage in the US, currently
      - we pay out of pocket for medical expenses in Mexico
      - both, we still have our US phone service (international coverage for North America through AT&T) and we have a Mexican SIM card (just one). We use WhatsApp to text with locals and our normal phone service to stay in touch with fam/friends in the US.

    Another enjoyable video, and as Querétaro is high on my list of cities to explore once I get to Mexico (happening pretty soon!), I'll look forward to your videos on it. As I watched and you asked for ideas, a couple popped into my head: 1) Something you don't often see in typical travel videos is information about volunteer opportunities that would be suitable for expats (& you talked about getting more plugged in to the community). I know some people like to get involved with animal rescue, for example. I like working with younger people (teens & young adults). In the U.S. I spent a number of years volunteering at a local juvenile detention facility. When I was in Guanajuato I volunteered with the language lab at the university there and would do English conversation groups with anybody that would show up (usually UG students), and if/when I settle in Mexico I'd like to find similar opportunities. 2) I'm someone who thinks they probably can't dance, but maybe if I found a good teacher (probably starting with one-on-one private lessons) I might consider trying. So maybe you could look into opportunities for us dance-challenged people.

I visited there couple months ago and was able to fit in Puebla and Cholula in one day but I needed a couple days to visit the surrounding towns. I could also recommend a nice modern hotel in Puebla if you go there. I don’t know if you communicate via email but I can send you a message that way.
    Saludos y bendiciones a ambos ✌️

    Can you touch a little on cost of living there ?
    You have lived in Orizaba too, I believe….we understand that Orizaba is very inexpensive and Queretaro is a little pricier than most Mexican cities, correct ? Perhaps you could share with us the difference between the two in total monthly expenses ? Thanks very much !

      Yes, we were in Orizaba for a few weeks and really enjoyed it, and correct, Queretaro is one of the more expensive cities when it comes to cost of living. A comparison video is a great idea, we've already started taking notes on cost of living :) thanks so much!

    Is Orizaba still on your list?

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  2 года назад

      Orizaba we love but not for right now. While we're young and childless we like the idea of living in a beach town or a bigger city with lots going on. Orizaba could be an option in the future when there are kids in the picture :)

    I've watched all of your videos. You guys are great, very down to earth. I think you guys made the right move, moving to Mexico. I've been wanting to retire in Queretaro since early 2020. But I haven't made a move yet because of the Covid. Please talk more about best neighborhoods to rent in Queretaro and more about health care access. By the way how is the air quality? I've been checking on the internet here in the States; it may not be accurate though.

      Wow thank you so much for watching all of our videos, that means a lot! Renting, healthcare, noted ☑️. Air quality is very good in my opinion compared to other cities of similar size. There are some days where the weather app indicates a reduction in air quality but I haven’t felt a noticeable difference

    I have a question pertaining to your other video in San Cristobal! Do you think that an expatriate that isn't fluent in Spanish could live and make it there?

    • @EatBailaTravel
      @EatBailaTravel  2 года назад

      You won’t find as many English speaking people as you might in a bigger city, but I think it’s possible to get by with basic-intermediate Spanish.

    Hello, I enjoy your videos. Stress weakens the immune system. Trying to live off a new RUclips channel has to be tough. Give you lots of props for trying. If you want your channel to grow (blow up) you need more consistency and quantity. It's not even so much about what you say in your videos, it more about the energy you transmit. Your message needs to be inclusive and/or universal.
    Best of luck!

    Hope you stay healthy.

      Have you been to Balandra beach? A few hours north of Cabo and near La Paz. It might be the best beach in all of Mexico 🇲🇽 if you want more of a party scene, check out Mazatlán or Sayulita

      Hi Daniel, I don't have IT experience but I appreciate the thought! My background is in higher education, enrollment management and international programs. My hope is when we stop traveling and settle down somewhere in Mexico that I might be able to work with a university (Queretaro has lots!) 🙂

      Querétaro is actually known to have a higher cost of living compared to many other Mexican cities but having a USD income does help make it much more affordable for those who work internationally or remotely

    yo soy de chicago como vosotros, pero no vivia alla hace mas de veinte anos. cada viaje a chicago, yo traigo un pizza de lou malnatis a tejas.
    yo pase cinco dias en queretaro el verano pasado como un experimento para escapar el calor. este verano, voy a probar aguascalientes basado en mi investigacion. gracias por su opinions de aguasacalientes porque no es comun y facil para investigar de los estados unidos. sus videos son los mejores

      @@EatBailaTravel acabo de viajar a Aguascalietes hace siete dias este agosto. me encanto Aguascalientes. pienso que prefiero Aguascalientes a Queretaro (pero solamente lleve cuatro dias en Queretaro el verano pasado y no fue tiempo sufficiente).
      solamente mi opinion. quizas porque hay menos turismo y vendadores de calle que queretaro. pero todavia tiene arte y architectura muy padre. quizas menos musica que queretaro, pero no me molesta. prefiero la comida y vida noche de aguascalientes. pero no soy mexicano y no podia encontrar la comida buena de queretaro como vosotros. y aguascalientes es un centro de negocios tambien. por eso, es mas desarollado que la mayoria de ciudades de bajio. AGU me parece seguro, limpia y fresca, las carictaristicas mas importante por mi. y AGU es mas barato que QRO, por eso, mis dollares compran mas.
      este invierno voy a probar huatulco despues de zona mecca in D.F. y no puedo esperar regresar a AGU el verano proximo.
