As a gold 3 player, I love watching these videos because running into diamonds or even platinum is such a stressful experience I can't even imagine queuing with GM ranked players. As fun as it is to clown on these guys, I also respect the confidence and willingness to try to fight GM players.
Yes there are things that need to be fixed in his gameplay, like losing aggression when he knows he'll be punished. That doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve his current rank, that just means that he's bad in a vacuum with 2 disadvantages. Calm down with tearing him apart, we're better than this as a community. I've played with much worse DPS who lose aggression when in plat/gold lobbies on console. I've also played with people who pop off and look like gods. Confidence and consistency are why, these might have been his 2 in 10 games that are bad. We won't know if he deserves console diamond unless we see him in a lobby of console diamond players, but that's not the point of this series.
"I can do well" and "I consistantly do well" are very different things. Everyone has good games but if you can't carry in your rank *consistantly* then you don't deserve to be higher.
My dude was not only terrible at tracer but got countered every game he played her, he’s one of those players that forces to play a character just cause even if they’re bad or Bein countered

The one thing i notice in these lobbies, is that the people with the bad player on their team never seem to play quite as well as they typically would, and the enemy team always always always focuses the hell out of the lower rank guy. I would argue that if you had a team of 5 GM's target you in your lobby rather than play how they typically would you probably couldn't play the game either. They know that if they get that kill on the bad player a 5v4 is so much easier to win.
I've still yet to find one of those type of Jay3 videos where the person who "claims" to deserve a higher rank actually believe that and aren't just trolling lmao, still looks like it's funnier when they troll and are not serious
I actually believe it about myself. I've been trying for a long time. I'm usually somewhere gold/mid plat but I often get people typing in chat that I'm way too good for my rank, i've been called a god at the game, told to cut myself/kill myself by enemy teams because of the insane plays I make, last night I got put in a lobby with dia/gm players while I'm sitting gold 3 and they couldn't believe I was gold due to my plays; they said they thought I was at least Masters. I don't know and won't claim to be Masters or GM material myself, but I do believe I definitely play like a high diamond at the very least, I just doubt I'd ever get put on one of these videos to test it out. I practice super hard also; I do lots of aim training, lots of deatmatch warmup and have lots of different practice drills saved. I genuinely feel like my loss games are where my team aren't pulling their weight; or to be more precise, where the people I'm matched with are playing like golds while I'm playing like a diamond at the very least. I'll put some replay codes in the comments; 2 wins and 2 losses. I also comm all the time calling my plays and asking for support etc, and once again the vast majority of times my losses are because teammates aren't doing their job as well as I'm doing mine. I wish I could show the comms but obviously these are just replay codes so don't contain that. I do not believe I am perfect and I do make mistakes and dumb plays sometimes, as everyone does, but I will say that a lot of the times I make dumb plays/mistakes is because of being tilted/mad that my teammates are just being awful, or playing at the rank they should be at when I'm playing like I should be higher (tanks not taking space and hugging point, no one pressing an advance after a team kill with me and just waiting for them to all come back without taking any space, supports not seeing or ignoring the plays I'm making after I call them out on comms and just leaving me to die when I could get many more kills with heals and extra help nearby). Final disclaimer before replay codes, I believe this for all three roles but these will be for DPS only as it's DPS I'm most interested in achieving my goals with; I only play Reaper on DPS at the level of play I speak of, and while I know only playing one hero isn't ideal etc etc and how I probably will struggle to get into the absolute highest ranks like that, remember I only said I feel like I deserve at least high diamond which I believe is entirely possible by achieving a high level of hero mastery on Reaper. @@shadow_ow2 I watched the Dorado loss. In my opinion, you're at the right rank. You made a lot of mistakes that a diamond player would/should never make. You're standing out in the open in front of the enemy team when you teleport; you go in with no health or cooldowns; not you shooting the tank when he's the only one you can see; poor rotations; not waiting for your tank to initiate before going in; and teleporting right in front of three enemies among other things.
@@shadow_ow2 Just watched the first game, but the soldier is carrying your lack of presence hard there on defense. You honestly just feed 24/7 and hope for the best. Playing on console vs PC you already put yourself at a major disadvantage. Playing on a console vs GM players on PC puts you against impossible odds. Kudos for sticking with it, Mono.
I'm just playing ranked to get Hanzo's golden bow. I started like a week ago, and winning bronze games seemed pretty good for farming those points. I just hit silver and I'm kinda worried it'll be harder... when does the difficulty really rise between the ranks? Is bronze to gold a similar difficulty?
You likely won't notice tbh. Skill is a gradient. Going from high silver to low gold is like going from mid silver to high silver. You just don't feel it most of the time. Don't stress over sudden jumps. Some games you roll, some games you get rolled. It's the same for everyone is all ranks. It wont be the result of ranking up between a couple games. At the end of the day, no matter your skill level, the game tries to put you in a fair match so it's not like going through easy, medium, hard. It's medium the entire time.
You won't feel it until you get to about plat or diamond aslong as you are trying to improve, if you're bronze or silver you might just not understand the game enough or your hero. Around gold and plat is where most players get stuck because they think they are good but really aren't trying to improve. Watch vods of high elo, ask high elo players as many questions as you can about your hero(es), watch your vods, make a checklist of what you struggle with. It should be smooth but slow sailing but aslong as you are actively seeking to improve.
I felt i could often do good and above avarage and was held back by bad team mates most times unditl i hit diamon on dps pc and then i felt like. These guys are good, a cant carry anymore. Like im kot worse than them but im just as good if it makes sense.
It fully depends on what your skill level is. When you hit the rank you belong in you are going to just feel like its a balanced match. While each rank has better players, you will just end up where you belong.
Jay you should make a new series where you take people like me who never play ranked, and place their skill level. Put them in a bronze lobby - if they do great, move them up til they can't compete.
You guys help me learn so much. I’ve personally have been stuck in gold and am always looking for little tips and tricks to learn each character. There’s just so much to take in for every character so it can be a little much
its easy to get bad teammates, and sadly I think he might be one of them. I have hope for these players when I watch these but bro this dude barley deserves plat/gold nevermind diamond. I think he got boosted elo and can't hang with the dps who can aim so he blames his team. Truly hate to see it considering most of these vods they somewhat deserve the rank their going for.
@@ARUclipsUser1 no, in comp its not cross platform. i play pc and cant play comp with my console friends so youre only playing against other console players
The game literally changes from Diamond to GM on any role or method of playing (could be nintendo switch for all that matters), so when you're playing against tougher opponents, even if you do really well in your rank, you'll look far worse. You can't "identify" someone as diamond in GM because they'll look bronze with things that work normally getting hard punished As much as it sucks, the being bronze in a GM lobby is how you get better TLDR: The guy isn't bronze, just not GM
Not gonna work, the point of these vids is to watch the exact player, if no one knows who is the main player of the video, it's gonna be boring just spectating GMs over and over again
I mean if they put themselves out there like this they should fully expect people to hate on them. Overall its mainly just a learning experience for them, they can watch again and see what they are doing wrong and how they can improve from listening to the commentary. If they really wanted to improve without being on the spot there are private coaching sessions they can pay for.
I think a fun idea like this is to have kinda all the overwatch streamers find someone plat-diamond and have them like represent the streamer like jay3 found this guy and they had a match to see if he could hang but I think it would be fun to see a match between like people the streamer finds to represent them in a match
Probably pretty well. I one tricked Tracer to Diamond and when I played Support for the first time I got to Gold within a day. It's not hard to position if you watch how your teammates play as other roles.
As someone who recently solo ranked to GM 4 as DPS, I do not think he deserves Masters or GM I'm also on controller. His aim and positioning are not there. He's not listening to his teammates and not prioritizing targets. I understand he was nervous, but that was like gold-level gameplay. I'm not saying he can never be Masters or GM, but right now, he deserves to be in Diamond 4 or 3 at best. Keep practicing Mono.
I truly respect the balls on this guy, but I just hit diamond on mnk as dps, this dude doesn't compare to anyone in my lobbies, but he's also on controller and under a lot of pressure in those games so i belive it's normal.
watching ppl with a lower sr paired with higher sr feels similar to when you have a inexperienced player in a destiny raid group. they just kinda go around and move like they're doin something but really they just be tickling things lol
I understand the pressure from being spectated. But I cannot understand how someone like this can reach diamond as dps. I feel like he would do okay as a tank, maybe support, but the way he plays and his awareness is more silver/gold.
I wish there was more time assessing whether or not the player deserves to be in the ELO they say they do after the matches. Where you both talk to him about where he could improve but also where he did well.
I would want to participate in a match like this. And see what can I learn from it. I play sym and I got ideas to play her in, but I struggle in matches when I don't know what to do in it. By the way I hit platinum as the max rank. If I can hit with the team to learn that would be appreciated and know when to attack and turret properly.
@@emma6648 that's so stupid, i'm so sick of ruining master games because the game is apparently convinced i'm not plat. Then being sent to gold after a 10 sized lose streak and losing it too

I wish he would just straight up say “You’re bad” in the videos, the guy’s too wholesome. To be fair though Mono was actually pretty wholesome at some points too so I understand why he didn’t just call him god awful, at least Mono wasn’t a narcissist
You're like one of the few people actually understands honestly

The one thing i notice in these lobbies, is that the people with the bad player on their team never seem to play quite as well as they typically would, and the enemy team always always always focuses the hell out of the lower rank guy. I would argue that if you had a team of 5 GM's target you in your lobby rather than play how they typically would you probably couldn't play the game either. They know that if they get that kill on the bad player a 5v4 is so much easier to win.
Because lower rank guy doesn't know positioning so they get picked easy
@@ohaitoto8689 it’s easy to say that, but no they are being targeted lol.
@@imreallynothappy He really wasnt at all, literally the majority of the time his enemies were ignoring him.
I'm FELBLADE, playing Reaper in the replays.

@@shadow_ow2 aint nobody reading that essay
If the enemy pays any attention whatsoever they will punish you for it all day long. And the higher up you go in the ranks the least likely you can get away with playing the way you do. You seem to have very little variety in your play book. On top of that your aim is pretty questionable for someone that claims to be at least diamond.

Bronze is terrible, Gold/Plat is average skill level diamond onward is above average skill level
This is a gold player getting boosted to Dimond with the new MMR system.
Jay you should make a new series where you take people like me who never play ranked, and place their skill level.

The game literally changes from Diamond to GM on any role or method of playing (could be nintendo switch for all that matters), so when you're playing against tougher opponents, even if you do really well in your rank, you'll look far worse. You can't "identify" someone as diamond in GM because they'll look bronze with things that work normally getting hard punished
As much as it sucks, the being bronze in a GM lobby is how you get better
TLDR: The guy isn't bronze, just not GM
Any way you could disguise who is actually in the hot seat to stop everyone from targeting them?
As in no one in the match knows who is the lower rank....

You'd do great, 80% of HEALER gameplay is positioning
Probably pretty well. I one tricked Tracer to Diamond and when I played Support for the first time I got to Gold within a day. It's not hard to position if you watch how your teammates play as other roles.
Those 2x insta deaths knocked his confidence, straight away lmaoo

that seemed worse than plat. dude played like he was a day one player almost
As someone who recently solo ranked to GM 4 as DPS, I do not think he deserves Masters or GM I'm also on controller. His aim and positioning are not there. He's not listening to his teammates and not prioritizing targets. I understand he was nervous, but that was like gold-level gameplay.
