I have a disco ball that reflects light like your sequin pillow (not sure if disco balls are whimsigoth or just '70s but I love it)! Super into Anna Sui vibes right now (black lace, purples, dark reds) since she feels very whimsigoth to me. Also highly recommend Sin In Linen for whimsigoth bedding and lace curtains! They have a dark/alt vibe and their quality is EXCELLENT (spendy but worth it). I got a dark purple duvet cover from them for a Practical Magic vibe :)
an Ofrenda Altar, gothic style lamps and rock art with dimmer lamp bulbs, warmer colors to contrast white walls. Most of my art has darker colors too. I have crystals and handmade wands too.
@@floofymuffin oooh I love all of this! I LOVE Anna Sui. And a disco ball can definitely be considered whimsigoth, in my opinion. Anything that creates sparkle fairies is whimsical!
Yes, I do. I practice mindfulness and read tarot. I have crystals, celestial items, and magical related décor. I love this style and have been moving towards it more and more.
I loved your first studio apartment. It's the reason that I started watching your channel! Your statement wall in your second place amazed me, and I'm glad you're thinking about using it in your current apartment, which is REALLY looking great! Thanks for sharing your visions with us, Steffi!
It’s funny because this has always been my personality/style for many, many years. And I always thought I was an oddball because I liked a mix of different aesthetics and that was me. Skulls, coffins, vampires, jars of herbs, crystals, witch items, dream catchers, fairly lights, hello kitty, plants and nature, cottage in the woods meets seaside cottage meets mountain top cottage with a sprinkle of farmhouse and mid century modern, and let’s throw in some vintage and romantic and a dash of nostalgic Hollywood just to keep things interesting. Like, I love it all and always had a hard time pinning down one style to decorate with. I always thought it was too much, mixing these things until it just kept happening naturally because I buy such an eclectic mix of things. My skulls in the kitchen but I have pink pots and pans, lol. And this video freakin nailed it, described me to a T! And the older I’m getting, the more I’m decorating however my heart desires. 💜
Very entertaining and interesting. Love Stevie Nicks style and her song Gypsy. Looking forward to your content each week. Wish you and your kitty the best. Thanks for the great video.🐱😊
THIS! This is the styling phrase I've been looking for! I thought it was dark cottagecore for a long time, but whimsygoth is WAY more accurate for me. I'm so happy you made this video. I feel very seen in the best way 😊
OMG! I feel like now, in my thirties, thanks to your video, I have finally learnt the name of the style I have been loving my whole life :D Your whimsigoth home decor style is beautiful. Thank you for lots of inspiration.
Hello Steffi, i enjoyed this video very much, I'm a fan of black, deep jewel tones and metals, love Stevie Nicks, also a fan of Abigail Ahern. You look healthy and happy 🥰. Thank you for sharing 🖤
I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to see this was the theme for this video. I love to look up whimsigoth inspo and dream about the day my place will look the same. Lol I obviously loved this video.
I first found you when I was looking for witchy design. Wimsigoth is my favorite vibe. Practical magic is the perfect comparison. Great video. Thank you.
Agreed SO much on the whimsical mirror! A few years ago, I got a white-washed cathedral-window mirror. I sanded it, painted the white wood dark brown, then glued fake moss to the edges. It's my favorite piece. ♡
I'd never heard of thay term but that's essentially my interior style! Well, maybe more dark academia but have all those elements. I think whimisgoth is a little easier to achieve as you can get relatively inexpensive trinkets and accessories, whereas dark academia I find it harder and more expensive to source antiques. Funny to see your office chair draping, I do the exact with mine - also a dark, fringed piece 😄 Thanks as ever for the videos. You cover some of my favourite topics that I don't really get to indulge in anywhere else!
Yaaay I'm so happy you liked it! And yes, dark academia can be trickier because of the antique (or antique-inspired) sourcing, AND I think that the existing architecture of a space can really help or hinder the dark academia aesthetic. Like, I could do dark academia in my apartment, but the fact that it's a pretty modern, builder-grade McApartment building is pretty antithetical to dark academia! It's possible, but an added challenge. 😊
Your explanation was spot on this has been me for 50 years and now i can put a quiet name to my home i find it interesting that it has name i have just always found this choice very soulful and connected to the world i chose to live in so i can peacefully survive the chaos outside my lil home thank you for bringing it to more people needing this peace!
Your mention of Stevie Nicks brought back so many great memories for me... I was obsessed with her in high school & lived in boots, leggings & vintage dresses! My parents even let me paint my bedroom walls black. I had no idea there was a name for this style. Thanks for the fun trip down memory lane! 🙏🖤🌿
Oh, yes, I have the glitter cushions 🙂 - Mine are pink though - But when the sunlight hits them - I just love the sparkle on the wall. I have captured it in a photo but also enjoy it in so much in the moment.
Thank you! This is exactly the style I want in my new apartment and the specific style shopping list helps so much! My only struggle is where to arrange/put everything. 😬 Love your videos!
Steffi, LOVE this and am obsessed with whimsigoth right now! Unrelated, but could you pretty please do a video on clutter? How do you hide it?! I have things like mail, a Goodwill pile, magazines, grocery list, winter hat/gloves and I know if I throw them all in baskets, I'll forget about them forever! lol
Haha I can relate! I did do a video about my storage solutions in my last apartment (which was a NIGHTMARE in terms of storage), so you might want to check it out! Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/T2kkE1oy4IA/видео.html
This is so fantastic! Definitely how I’m going to be decorating once we’re back into our apartment since it’s being upgraded. The only thing I’ll be doing that I don’t feel was impressed apon much in this video is the GOTH part of it, I’ll be using many many bones and skulls along with candles and a things of the sort. As always awesome video and it’s much appreciated ☺️ blessed be!
I love the idea of whimsigoth and that quote has me sold (I also totally need to look up grandmillennial). But my brain is craving a more retrained whimsigoth/dark decor--think like dark Cabin by a stream in the woods meets Mike Flanagan film set. Like is there a more simplified version of whismigoth? I am def not a minimalist but my anxious brain craves simplicity
I never knew it was called whimsigoth but I'm looking at my apartment like yep, this goth jungle is that. Edited to add: I showed my wife some whimsigoth examples on Pinterest and she looked around our home and said "yep." We're going to do up our kitchen in black, green, and copper. Thanks for the tips!
Are there other versions or subtypes of this aesthetic that uses minimalism? Too many things and crowded home gives me anxiety. Thank you, and I love all your tips and inspiration!
Steffi, I love the "Whimsigoth" Decor pillows and will probably order the green velvet one from Etsy. I do have 2 questions. Question 1. Can you recommend some whimsigoth rugs please..or tell me where you purchased your current living room rug and your other black rug from your former apt. Both rugs I love. Question 2. Is your gorgeous cat considered whimsigoth cat? 😂 He could be dont you think? 😆 Thanks ❤️
Could you do videos focusing on other interior design styles too? I LOVED learning about Whimsigoth, especially the shopping list aspect c: My own apartment style is Southwestern!
You titled the video. You described the aesthetic. Why did you have to say Whimsigoth 3 times a minute? If this had been a drinking game I would have died 5 mins in.
Thank you for watching! Do YOU incorporate any whimsigoth decor elements in your space? Tell me how!

This kinda looks like what hade's daughter would love as decor😅😅❤❤soo dark yet magical
Please, does dark green go with a beige wall please? I'll be painting the outer walls with a mold resistant paint in another colour.

I'd call this dark witchy boho. But interesting learning a new name.
Yeah it's all kind of interchangeable, with some differentiating nuances here and there. 😊
