I'd like to sum up some questions we all have.
1) Can you use your cell phone in tandem with OEM features like entune system IF we wanted to?
2) Will the screen go black just like the phone when locked?
3) Will Entune lock me out if I'm trying to watch Movies, Videos, etc. while mirroring?
4) After installing this wiring kit will it effect the OEM navigation functions?
5) Will ANYTHING OEM be affected if Im not using mirroring mode on my phone?
6) WIll all OEM features still be available for use even with this harness?
7) Does the video and navigation at the same time only work on certain vehicles or will it work on all? 2018 4Runner owner.
1. Think of the phone mirroring mode as a separate source item in your radio. Just as Radio cannot be used in tandem with Bluetooth music at the same time, you will not be able to use Smartphone Mirroring mode in tandem with other source items.
2. Yes, the screen will go black when the phone is locked. Some apps may benefit with the use of Apple's Airplay and will continue to play even when the phone is locked.
3. Entune will not lock you out if you are trying to watch movies or videos as the kit comes with video in motion device.
4. The kit will not have any effect on the OEM Navigation Functions.
5. Nothing OEM will be affected .
6. One OEM feature you will lose is your 3.5mm Aux input.
7. Video and navigation at the same time will work on all vehicles. It's the matter of if your phone is able to multi-task, and all current phones are able to handle that.

Can you confirm how this connection affects Bluetooth on a USB C android phone? Do microphone and audio signals travel over the cable if Bluetooth is disconnected?
Microphone for calls will act normal but your phone has to be connected to vehicle via bluetooth. Yes, if bluetooth is disconnected microphone and audio signals travel via aux

Also, when you touch the mirrored screen on the 4runner display, does this manipulate the phone ?
The phone can only be manipulated via phone itself.
Since the answer is no, I see no real benefit besides maybe using waze or other navi’s from your phone but my 4runner has the Toyota Navi in it which works fine for me and I keep the waze on my phone just in case there are short cuts the Toyota gps doesn’t always show but everything else I wouldn’t need to mirror anything else from my phone to the truck display.
Will this work on a 2020 4Runner? We Wanna watch Netflix on our screen during long road trips. We have iPhones.

So is this basically useless for Android users since the phone screen will likely shut off anyway?
It's not useless as you can just keep your android on during mirroring
I know you probably have to leave the phone on for Navigation such as Google Maps but does the phone have to be on for any video like Hulu, Netflix, or RUclips. I dont want the screen on the phone to be on while the 4runner screen is displaying the video as well.
When mirroring using your iPhone and the Apple AV Adapter, you may lock the phone and black out the screen while playing videos such as Hulu, Netflix or RUclips.
Beat-Sonic Same with Android?
Unfortunately Android does not have the function to black the screen while the content is being mirrored.
Beat-Sonic that kinda sucks. Maybe there is an App that will allow it.
Is it possible to tie a chromecast dongle into your unit and send the video wirelessly instead of using the rocket cable?

Beat-Sonic I have a 2017 toyota 86 and my mother has a 2017 Corolla both of our radios are have the same menus as this but no av mode or built in gps will it still work.

There is no latency between Audio and Video.

when using this system how can you utilize the mirroring options such as waze, while listening to sirus radio if you have to activate switching between using your phone aps and the radio?
In order to listen to Sirius radio while phone is being mirrored, you will need to download the Sirius application on your phone. Unfortunately, both phone mirroring and Sirius radio from the car will not be able to be used together.
What kind of tires and size are on this 4Runner.
Why would you do this?
To be able to use phone features on your car's screen and audio system.

yeah, why would u do this, it's redundant
would only makes sense if the main screen was bigger, but the phone screen is almost as big as the main car system screen. It makes no sense at all for that 1-2 inch extra screen.
