  • The Leica M2 has been a camera which I have taken around the world with me, shot hundreds of rolls through and it has never skipped a beat. There really is something special about shooting with the M2.
    If only it had a hotshoe though.
    ‪@snappiness‬ has a great video on the Pixii rangefinder, you should definitely check that out too!

    I have a 1958 M2 and I absolutely adore it. No need for batteries. No need for a light meter. It’s a pleasure to use.

      What lenses do you have for it? I’m interested in finding some vintage Leica glass for it, from the same era as the when the camera was made.

    What a nice surprise by the algorithm this morning! Fantastic video mate, really well produced and I love your photos. I’ll be genuinely surprised if you don’t blow up soon, keep at it!

    I absolutely LOVE my M2. As a street shooter, the quick focusing, clean framelines, and quiet shutter are hard to beat, not to mention it's the best looking film M camera IMO.
    And only the real ones know just how amazing the Canon LTM lenses are 😉

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto  Год назад +1

      Agreed! I love the way it looks, there’s a reason the MP was designed to look like an M2!
      Just wish it had a hotshoe, my only gripe with the camera, but it is what it is
      And yeah the Canon LTM lenses are such little gems, I had the 50 1.4 for many years before buying the 35 and I’m sad I didn’t do it earlier!

    Wonderfully informative video. I have no real interest in cameras, but you kept my full attention from start to finish with the beautiful production quality and your own personal enthusiam.

      Glad you realized it wasn’t crooked, but this is why I no longer shoot in that spot, confused too many people 😂

    M2 rocks! Even without film it is a camera that enthrals with its whisper soft shutter and ergonomic shape that fits the hand like a glove. It simply asks to be used and often.

    Out it interest, which lens did you shoot the GT40 photos with?

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto  Год назад

      Thank you for the kind words! The GT40 was photographed with the 50mm 2.8 Elmar-M that I had borrowed off a friend - it was the lens I used briefly for around a month before I saved up enough to buy myself the canon 50 1.4 LTM!
      Great little lens, collapsible and super sharp but the 2.8 max aperture was a little disappointing. Would love to try it out again at some point though!

    I like my M2 also. I own 3 Ms, one digital and two film. Leica M is definitely the perfect system for me. I use Leica lenses, some are from the 70th, some from the 90th and two are from the modern line. I also develop my films, bw and color.
    The M2 is from 1964, witch is my year of birth. I change the leather, because it’s smells not very well. Now the conditions are perfect for the next 60 years.

    When I wanna shoot lens interchangeable rangefinder camera I'll grab one of my fathers Zorki's. HOWEVER, those lenses look interesting to me. Especially since they are compatible with my Zorki 😊

    Nice story. But the photos are even better. And the GT40 isn't your best photo, as I learned from your video. I'm a tad older than you, and I know that cars and all that (own an orange '71 Targa for 25 years) won't keep up in the long run compared to people and nature, perhaps cityscapes. Love that you use old Canon glass with your precious M2. Superb combo! In cinematography, Canon's over 50-year-old K35 primes are the most expensive vintage primes on the market. Vintage Canon lenses can be marvellous glass, holding up their own compared to Leica's primes at that time. Perhaps you might want to remove these ubiquitous Peak Design danglers and get an old-school strap 🙃. Nice channel! Keep it personal, and don't feel tempted to do reviews on the latest and greatest gear. Subscribed!!

      Thank you for the kind words!
      The photo of the GT40 I just personally really love - there’s something so pleasing about the colours and composition that it always brings a smile to my face when I look at it haha
      And yeah the old Canon glass has just been amazing! I’m planning on making a video dedicated solely to the old canon glass itself, how it performs on modern digital bodies etc too.
      The peak anchors are a bit unsightly I will admit, but they are convenient - although I really should get a more traditional strap for it going forward!

    can't afford leica glass, says the guy who wears limited edition james bond omega watch 😂 anyway, love the video, the watch and of course the camera

    • @rudermanphoto
      @rudermanphoto  Год назад +1

      Haha I meant I couldn’t afford it at the time when I was 19 ;)
      and now that I’ve used the canon glass I don’t really see a need to spend more on Leica glass! Not for a while at least.

    I got my M3 single stroke in '69 with 35mm Summicron for $250 ($2k today). I haven't used it much in recent years, but I intend that it will someday (not too soon, please) endow a much younger photog with Leica superpowers.
