    I did a lot of research because I wanted to put LED headlight bulbs in my 2006 Ford Ranger (9007) and 1999 Honda CR-V (H4/9003). Your videos and BulbFact Chart were very helpful. I also looked at the reviews of the various bulbs, both positive, and negative., premium, and budget. I finally decided on mid-range LED bulbs for both vehicles: Hikari Ultras, for $88.00 per set (thank you for the 10% discount code). You cover a of features, but you do not cover longevity, and customer service. A lot the negative reviews dealt with chips that fell off the bulb holders. This happened a lot. Some companies did not respond to customer complaints, others tried hard to please the customer. I think these two issues would be very helpful to your viewers. Thanks for all your testing!.

    • @BulbFacts

      Hey Scoop43! Thanks we appreciate that! The Hikari Ultra's are very popular and seem to work well. We are actually keeping track of customer service for each brand, and will eventually add some details there as well. Most have been good so far, both on Amazon/eBay and premium brands especially. We'll also do bench stress testing of the LED products in the future. Currently, we are working on halogen there. Great suggestions though, and we plan to continue to enhance our testing and results for you guys!

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Mukhalad, thanks I appreciate that! You certainly can leave the cover on, no modification needed. The LED runs much cooler inside of the headlight, but a bit warmer in the back. Random question, but my girlfriend has a 2021 Corolla hybrid with OEM LED lights? Any idea that oem led lumens or lux are? How easy would it be to upgrade the oem bulbs to even brighter LED after market bulbs and how much of a difference would that even make?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 года назад

      Hi PhaseSkater, we are not sure, but we plan to test OE output on vehicles in the future. the Corolla LEDs perform pretty well, but I would just check the aim as they tend to be too high from the factory and that light could be lost. To upgrade, you'd need to replace the entire headlights, which is something you'll want to consider if they get too dim or go bad, and the vehicle is no longer under warranty.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад

      Hey towheed Ahmad, the best LEDs for a halogen projector we tested are the Lumibright XT1 (link.bulbfacts.com/lbxt1), and the Hikari Ultras (amzn.to/2S6Zj81). They both provide a great beam and a very high output level. You can stick with halogen as well, and the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's are the best option for your projectors. Just keep in mind the lifespan will be about half of your original bulbs, so you may need to change them more often. Hope that helps!

    I have Techmax running for almost two years for high/low beams, no problems so far. Considering that one headlight had bad seal and for almost a year, it always had moisture and water in it until I got around to fixing it. Definately a huge improvement over stock halogens. Headlights are reflector btw. All these people can say what they want about spending more for "quality" on GTRs or whatever, in reality there may be options almost as good for a budget price imho.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  3 года назад

      Thanks for sharing L K! Glad to hear the Techmax kit is working well. We notice an improvement in quality going to the premium options, however you do add in cost for a longer warranty and better customer service, based on feedback we have seen. Just upgrading to LED from halogen though can make a big improvement.

    I went with the Katana for 2013 Prius, projector type. Great improvement over the halogens and I am satisfied! Wish I had this brightness 15 years ago.
    Next step up would be slightly brighter Hikari ultra and then HID bulb or HID bulb with kit/headlights.
    It sounds like around 5k color range looks better to the eyes although most are at 6k+, I'm getting used to the color change vs halogens.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад

      Thanks for sharing Greg! The Katana's can actually be better than Hikari if your looking for more overall light spread. The Hikari Ultra shoots concentrated light further. how is the techmax on fog lights? it looks pretty good for the price on the low beams reflectors, but not sure about fog lamp reflectors tho?
    what led kits would you recommend for fog lights reflectors?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад

      Hey Eddie! I would recommend the same, but we havn't officially tested all of the kits in fog light reflectors and projectors just yet. It's harder to determine for fogs as it's an overall light spread which is best, vs. a better hotspot for headlights, but they should be similar as the higher lux number should translate to more light to the sides and down lower. We'll release some official test results in the future though for fog lights.

    I've been holding for a review of the Hikari "Eye of Megatron" LED's. We've installed them in reflector and projector assemblies. To say the least, these were amazingly satisfying for light output (on the road). As we did the install in projectors, the skepticism was highly present. But we were daunted by the results. The Hikari replaced a pair of Auxbeam LED's--color temperature is actually whiter than the Auxbeam (which were too high into the blue hue at 6500K).
    To be honest, we pulled the Hikari LED's and reinstalled HID's. That added light output, SLIGHTLY higher current draw and 15 second warmup time are all worth it. Still, the Hikari is no doubt worth every bit of $89.
    Thanks for another informative and unbiased presentation!! Always awaiting more.

At 3:10 you said they have a little bit of blocking in the front and you don't recommend them for projectors. I have tried other leds you suggest but they don't fit under my dust caps. My question for speculation is, what if I were to remove/grind/sand off the blockage on the front of the led to make it look more like the Hikari Ultra? Do you think you would get better performance from the Techmax led in a projector housing?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Jordan, that's a great question. Yes the Techmax has the front cover which helps reduce glare in a reflector, but blocks a lot of the light in a projector. Theoretically if you ground down the front end to make it straight, it should product more light in the halogen projector, simliar to Hikari Ultra. Just be careful!

      Thanks Bashar! That sounds like a great combo. You may need to add a CANBUS adapter (error eliminator) in-line if you get a dash error is all. If you have the same DRL, we will be testing kits that work as DRL as well on a lower voltage, so stay tuned for that!

    Will the techmax work on gm daytime running lights, like 2017 Chevy traverse,they seem like the best for this application, being projectors.

      Hi Rodney! We haven't found many kits that work as DRL, but we will be doing some further investigating very soon to validate further. You can check our chart to see which kits work: www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/chart/ (See Dimmable as DRL), but I'll be retesting with some new equipment soon. Hope that helps for now!

    Do you Know if possible install the Katana on my KIA Sorento 2016 because of the error problems

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад

      Hey Orlando! I do believe your Kia uses a CANBUS system, so you may need 'error eliminators' in line to trick the computer so you don't get any errors: amzn.to/2DCvOqP

    I'd like to upgrade the LEDs in my fog lights (reflector). What is recommended for 2020?
    I've been rocking the Techmax LED for 2 years but one of the LED diodes has dimmed significantly.

      @BulbFacts  4 года назад

      Hey Miguel! We just recently updated and renewed our reflector tests, so be sure to check out the latest recommendations on our website; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/ . For fogs though, I would suggest the DDM Tuning SaberPro (50w) model, as they have the highest lumen count we have seen with a good beam, as well as a whiter color. Here is a link to the full review; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/reviews/ddm-tuning-saber-led-50w-pro-series-led-kit-review.html

    For projectors Supernova V4 or Hikari Ultra LED?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Julio, both are great choices but the Hikari Ultra's have the best light output in terms of the distance, but the Supernova's will have more overall light (side to side). Hope that helps!

    Thanks for a very informative video, especially the part for projection headlights. But no mention of Sealight LED, they have DOT certificates on most of their models?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Stewart no problem! We have Sealight in our bin for testing soon, so be sure to check back on the results for those. DOT requirements are strict, and most LED products won't meet the requirement, however some do like Diode Dynamics for example. They are much more expensive though as they have performed extensive testing for each bulb type.

      Sealight x2 series on my 2017 civic projector headlights are freaking amazing. I tried many different led lights and nothing came close to the brightness of the Sealight x2. They are $60 for the H11. Not sure when the x2 sealights led lights came out but I promise you they are great and have a awesome beam pattern.

    Would you recommend the hikari or the ddm tuning hids? Since they’re around the same brightness?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  4 года назад

      Hey KiddFpv, if you have halogen projectors, go with HID. For reflectors, LED is best. The beam is most important.

    Great video, but I have a question. I have a 2012 outback that use H7 bulb. I wonder if I can reinstall the rear cover over the LED bulb since LED bulb has a fan at the end. if not, can I just leave it open?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад

      Hey Ziyi! You'll want to re-install the cover to deep the environment out of your headlight. The fan's primary function is to keep the LED chips cool so they stay bright. LED runs much cooler than halogen and produces a lot less heat.

    What led bulbs do you recommend for highs and lows in a 2016 civic?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  4 года назад +1

      Hey Ben, check out our recommendations for halogen projectors here; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/#hp . It will depend on your budget of course, but these are the best options for a large improvement in brightness. Also consider an HID conversion, as that will have a superior beam compared to LED.

    I want to upgrade the high beam since they seem dim compared to other cars. Whats the best budget light for H9 high beam? LED or HID?

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад

      Hi Moises! The best High Beam upgrade is either Halogen or LED. You'll want to stay away from HID as it takes time to warm up and is not suited well for turning on/off a lot. A quick and cheap upgrade would be the Techmax LED kit. It's small and easy to install, and very bright!

    Congratulations for your awesome channel! I need your precious help though! My car came with stock halogens with a projector, so few years ago I upgraded to a cheap generic HID kit. However, it didn't last long and with minimal usage, so I'm up to buy something better now. I'm 100% lost though and I need you help. Should I go for LED or HID? My headlights (H1) got a closed housing that seals with a cap. LEDs should last longer but I'm concerned with the heat and the fan design and from some people's reviews that report early faults. So what should I buy? I'd like to spend below 100$ and I live in Europe. Thank you.

    • @BulbFacts
      @BulbFacts  5 лет назад

      Hi Kypriaka Talenta, thanks for the support! We have not directly tested H4 yet, however I would recommend sticking with HID as they will perform best in a projector. Since you have installed HID already, you know the work involved and components. It sounds like you just need a better quality kit. We have only tested a number of kits so far, but can recommend a few, check our recent video here on this: ruclips.net/video/cr7jdvJcWL4/видео.html. If you are set on LED though, check to see if either the Hikari Ultra or Katana kits are available in your area, they are very bright in projectors as well, but the beam pattern is not quite as good as HID. You shoudn't work about heat buildup with LED models that include a fan, as they actually produce less heat vs. most halogen. Hope that helps!
