Its been few days since I've been wanting to buy the Kraken X, but then i saw very bad reviews on it and decided to buy the V2 X because of the RGB, but your review really helped me decide which one to buy, and guess what *I'm buying the blackshark v2 x* for sure!
Chroma is definitely a selling point for me. I just love order and syncing plus I love visual and light design.
But blackshark v2x are better while cheaper
I don't care about price I care about chroma.

Razor is making too many different Headset. They will confuse buyers in to just buying another brand.. They should do what SteelSeries Does. With each Model Series there is some pretty big differences.

Just bought this in September 2024, and for $39 from Amazon new...this was a great buy.
I agree, don’t care about chroma or RGB. I care about comfort and sound.

I have the cheapest version Kraken X Lite and it was great with good comfort and sound quality. But until its plastic headband cracked and I cannot use it anymore (see, Kraken cracks...). I would definitely recommend get the higher quality versions over the Lite version. V3 seems great but really not much differences to the older X version I think. And yes, BlackShark V2X is very good, I will take it over any Kraken headset
The Kraken headsets are extremely durable, but for some reason the Kraken X in particular feels like it could break AT ANY TIME. Source: I have both a Kraken X and had a Kraken V2 which lasted me 4 years. Definitely go for a normal Kraken or a Blackshark V2 X

the kraken 7.1 v2 is the best headset i've ever owned. only one big enough that my ears never touched the drivers or earcups at all. for some reason no other headset seems to do that. and most importantly, you can actually turn surround off! surround makes me sick i way prefer a stereo setup
3:46, completely spot on on that one, that part of my regular kraken x’s broke in a couple of months which resulted in me having to super glue it back together. The design of this headset has many flaws.

For the people that looking to buy the krakens, i had the kraken x and it breaks easily be aware of that and i had the blackshark v2x and its a beast i really recommend the BLACKSHARK V2 X over the kraken x
Same here. Normal Krakens are extremely durable, they've lasted me 3-4 years, but the Kraken X has been with me for a little below a year and the clamping force is way too loose and I feel like it'll break at any time
Awesome review but seriously I had the older one which has the same plastic build and it broke in a couple of different places. My brothers do open them up a bit more than "usual" but still the build is what made then break as we had many others which didn't have issues
I don't know why the Chroma part would be of any excitement when we speak about headsets. I mean it's like a smile on the radio, it's not like you are enjoying the rainbow when it rests on your ears..

With the original kraken i can completely agree with your concern for the build quality. After about 5 ish months my has cracks in the headband where the plastic meets the headband cushion. So i would stay away from this headset considering its the same exact frame.
Hey man i know the video is not about this but i need a new mouse haha. The Razer Viper Ultimate is $70 dollars cheaper than the G Pro Superlight where i live, should i spend the extra $70 on the Superlight or the Viper is more than enough?

If the weight difference matters to you and you prefer the shape of the g pro x then it’s well worth the money!
The Viper has better performance than the g pro sl.But the grip and the scroll wheel are more satisfasing with g pro sl
Around the clicks the best is the viper and the problem with the g pro is that after 2 months of heavy use the clicks are moving around the mouse( the side buttons are kinda weird with the viper)

It's not very hard to understand. V2 and V3 are simply versions, iteration of the same base model. X is the code they use for theyr "budget" products. Stinking enjoyable videos as always, but the naming conventions of razer aren't really that confusing, other brands are far worse.

If Razer would put these into their high end tier, it would be amazing, I don´t like their big heavy design on headsets, and these looks nice and slim, 50mm drivers, tune it for use in music, gaming, watching videos, pulling microphone and propably make them wireless or open back, no crazy rgb, only simple over the logo, would be great

No, lol the one thing I do not like to have RGB, are my headphones. The last thing I want on my screen in the dark, is a rainbow flashing reflection on top of my head 😂 definitely not a selling point for me. Nice review though!
I bought 2 Kraken X in the span of a year. They both broke in almost the same position of the headband while I was trying to put them on. If you aren't extremely extremely careful while putting it on, this thing won't last.

The Kraken X is a great starter headset but the mic quality is a bit low, you have to put that mic really close to your mouth
so people can hear you, I strongly recommend for the extra 40 dollars you get the Blackshark v2, not the v2x.

im loving these reviews. i got a headset once for 20 bucks and i absolutely hated it. it felt heavy wasn't enjoyable. and after a short time it started messing up.
recently been looking at "lightweight" headsets found the kraken x first then heard more and more about the v2 x and im hoping to get one soon or christmas. so i just realized this was a similar price to so wanted to check out this but it still has the 40mm under the 50mm and the blackshark v2 x is still better. anything better or cheaper im not sure if it exists but i've learned alot about the technology out there now.

Chroma is nice, but unnecessary. The fact that the Kraken v3 X is USB while the Blackshark v2 X is 3.5mm, however.... that can be significant. A lot of people are PC-only gamers and still have inferior onboard audio (for instance, I had to update my system at the start of the pandemic when prices were skyrocketing and parts becoming increasingly hard to find, and my Q2'2020 released mobo has a low end 2008 audio chipset - ALC887). Of course, people using more expensive DAC/Amps or with higher end onboard audio can find the 3.5mm a selling point over the USB.
At least you know it being Razer the quality control will be top notch

I know a lot of you don’t think this headset is all that but for me? I used to have a $20 winners headset before this (😭) and I thought it was fine. Not even that bad. This comparing to my old headset? 10X better, easily. I never buy any expensive gaming accessories so to me this is a lot. This is all that I need for gaming and then some.
Ok, this is old but, I have razor chroma installed with a good keyboard and mouse, so it was nice that the headset has the color changing stuff. My 14 year old thinks its the beez neez

Sound and comfort is not really a marketing thing, its more like personal preference, so that means you like the blacksharks over the krakens because they sound better and are more comfortable in YOUR opinion. So i personally would get the kraken v3 x over the blackshark because in my opinion it sounds better, fits better on my head and i think the mic sounds waaaay better. But that is just my opinion. So it all comes down to personal preference.

Blackshark 100%. I have the original Kraken X and the clamping force is way too loose and the ear cups arent big enough
I’m getting that pressure you described behind my ears with the new Xbox wireless headset. These seem to have a similar build. I never thought not having swivel would be an issue, but it seems to be for me.

like, I got my headset and it's left ear cracked after like 2 weeks or less
thankfully, it still alive after a full year
but the problem is that I can't open it widely
plus, there's a problem with razer synapse where it doesn't give me full software control like the EQ and mic and these stuff

I never "hated" or "disliked" razer. I hated how every single razer product got praised, it was more commercials than consumer reviews. As seen with this video, I just like to keep it 100% real all the time.

Krakens are just bass heavy. Blacksharks is of both worlds. Bass and clarity.

Blackshark V2 X. If you have huge giant ears the Kraken 2019 edition might be a good choice.

I wouldn't spend extra for rgb. And the end of the day, it's a headset, you won't see your headset when you're playing, and sound is the reason you buy a headset. So no rgb for me

I've got an old Razer Kraken USB that has the exact same plastic part connecting the ear cup to the frame - and you were right - one day I think I took them off too suddenly or they fell from my head, and guess what? The plastic on the inside broke.
Other than that, the headset is pretty high quality and works for many, many years.

I think it is because the v3 comes with usb connection while the v2 has a version with a usb soundcard

This was unexpected! I own a Razer Kraken X, and it's a solid headset. But the headset suprisingly *snapped*. I think it's primarily because I gotten a faulty model and the fact that it has no metal reinforcement. Sound is very solid but not mind blowing but overall decent. 3:49 is very true, so keep that in mind. Mine did snap, so for long use I don't recommend it. The quality of the Kraken V3X seems unchanged but I don't know. So for those buying keep that in mind. Anyways love your videos Techne, keep up the great work man! 👌

Got my kraken x 2 months ago and they broke for the same reason. I used instant glue 2 times 1 time it broke again after a weak or so and now its been like 3-4 days so i definately regret not buying Blackshark.

Unfortunately the plastic build is an issue, over the span of a year my kraken x broke twice on the adjustable sections. (Never dropped/ threw them). Its a shame because they are really good aside from this.

Okay, what I understood is that the BlackShark's audio quality tops this small list with the 50mm TriForce drivers. Do you feel that the audio quality of the Kraken V3X is better then that of the Kraken X?
To answer you about the RGB selling point, with a twist. For the Kraken Kitty stream reactive kitty ears I would pay that extra $20 over getting the Kraken Ultimate that only has the light up earcups. For the Kraken V3X over the Kraken X model? Basing the purchase on having the RGB effect alone? No I wouldn't.

I actually broke the hinge after 3 months of usage. Not the hardest, not the most careful kind of usage.
right now the v3X is 47 on amazon. the blackshark v2 x is like 39.99 lol. must i say more. when the cheaper price is better sound from what i've gotten from the research i've found.
Btw they have the PERFECT spot to out a swivel mechanism under the adjustment WHY DO THEY NOT
3:50 the number side does not give away, but the top of the headset does snap. I have had the kraken x for 2 years now but it has unfortunately snapped at the top. And I still dont know the reason why.
Blacksharks is better than the Krakens. So get the blackshark v2 x. It's also cheaper 😊

Hey Techne, I find the kraken lineup really confusing and I cant find any non-outdated reviews about alot of the kraken headsets. Could you cover the kraken headsets and compare them to something like the Blackshark V2s?
Tbh all kraken are bad.... try a different line like the blackshark (much better) or my fav hs60 surround

@@ya7ioo It seems like you do know the models, so it all comes down to personal preferences. For example my FAVOURITE mouse is the deathadder while for othere those big logitech mice. Just try looking at different reviews (techne is the best quality reviewer) and see which one you like! (Be carefull from sponsored/bad reviews....)

I bought the Kraken X with the same plastic bracket and it broke after 1 month , don't recommend to buy these because looks the same .
so i checked razer's website and found out that it still uses the same 40mil drivers same mic but its $20 more than the regular x cause it has rgb? not to mention the blackshark v2x is $60 with 50mil drivers and a better mic and better sound quality...I own a razer kraken x i love it but $20 extra to get the same one with just rgb added when i can buy a blackshark v2x for $10 more than the regular kraken x...it just doesnt make much sense imo.

I understand what you mean with the swivel. Reason I chose the cloud stingers instead of the kraken x . Extremely disappointing as it makes the headset so uncomfortable .
I couldn't care less if my headset has rgb since I won't see it anyway when they are on my head.
